great job!! I think the place you are departing from is at the core of what we should be doing on a world wide scale and I think that the aboriginal people have a lot to offer. The development that the globally leading western civilisation has taken is a swing of the social pendulum to an extreme corner point. It focuses on self-owned property, expanding ones own abilities and believing that one person is seperate from the other. The American philosopher Ken Wilber has analysed this extremely well, integrating the insights of Clare Graves look on socio-spiritual level of development, that we all go through without being particularly aware. All cultures that are not based on an agricultural structure have a lot to teach us after catching up on the rational development of the cognitive development, as well as we westerners can teach a lot to the spiritual people, after we have caught up on the spiritual development. As many people have learned, mindfulness is a central aspect of getting to this place of mutual profitable acceptance and fruitfulness. Back Pain might be the one of the main symptoms of all of us whose minds, bodies and spirits keep experiencing psychological and cultural strain and have not reached the developmental level that can heal us on a broader scale. Lets do it together!
by the way, I am a German physical therapist excited of moving forward in this way!

nearly 10 years sober here ... all around me I see people, my mates dying, killing themselves and poisoning themselves with alcohol...wake up noongar people for the sake of your children! RIP Jason, God is with you now mate! Your message will help many!
Aboriginal people are uniquely insulin resistant. It's a survival trait to make sure they can put on body fat during an abundant season so they can survive a lean one. The problem is that in trying to gift them a step up into the modern world, Europeans gave them weekly rations of sugar flour and tea and assumed that what took Europeans 70 years to become diabetic on would be fine for them too. Sugar, Flour, Bread, Soft drinks, Fruit and Juice, Potatoes and Rice ... all of these things make people who are insulin resistant sicker and eventually we get type 2 diabetes and lose their toes and fingers, kidneys, eyes, and if we live long enough we get heart disease. Alcohol is not necessarily the problem, the maltose in the beer is pure glucose, or the mixer in a spirit mix. Rum is not necessarily the problem in a rum and coke. Junk food is not necessarily the problem, a type 2 diabetic can eat Maccas burgers and not derange as long as they don't eat the bun, and get mayonnaise instead of the special sauce. The cheese and meat on top of a pizza are not bad, if you are insulin resistant then it's all the flour in the base of the pizza that will do the damage. There have been randomized clinical trials showing that a ketogenic diet (no sugar nor starch) reverses type 2 diabetes - www.virtahealth.com/research And there is a community of people online who have managed to do this fix1.2keto.com You can be vegan and ketogenic, but someone who is profoundly insulin resistant can not eat a diet full of grains like a seventh day Adventist.
Alcohol is a different problem, but my point was that it doesn't cause type 2 Diabetes. My HbA1c was 11.2% following the Australian Diabetes Association recommended diet, as prescribed by an Accredited Practicing Dietitian from the dietitians Association of Australia. A diet with a daily requirement of 300g sugar or starch ... for a person for whom the only differential diagnosis they had was that I was unable to safely metabolize sugar and starch. My HbA1c after not eating sugar or starch for 3.5 years is been 5.2% and has been for the past 3.2 years. The fad diet is the low fat wholegrain based diet which was foist upon us in the 80s, while type 2 Diabetes has since overwhelmed our people. The low fat diet has been the most tested dietary intervention in history and has never been shown to be effective. eg: the Women's Health Initiative DMT after 8 years and 50,000 test subjects, found no (or negative) benefit for heart disease, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, or weight - and all it cost was $700 MIllion to find that out 30 years AFTER the dietary guidelines told us to reduce fat and increase wholegrains. The take home message is if you are a type 2 diabetic and you want your disease to be progressive then sure follow a diet from Diabetes Australia who will medicate you and warn you to keep up your carbohydrates while telling you that Diabetes is a horrible disease that is always progressive. If you want your disease to be reversible then you might want to take a look at the results from the Virta study I linked above.
