Here is my soil mixture, and I guarantee it is free-draining material. I mix some compost, pumice rock, bone meal (for the roots) 1/4 to 1/2" coconut husks, river sand and worm castings as a soil enhancement. It does not compact after time maintains adequate moisture content, it works well.
