Drag Tutorial: You have to finish the race as fast as you can. But you have to manually shift. When a blue or green arrow appears, that means you have to shift. Blue is good, green is perfect and red is bad. If you need, you can use nitro to pass the opponent in front of you.

If the shift is green, that's the sweet spot.
Here's what Rog actually said: Drag's all about hitting the perfect shift. When the shifter turns green, that's the sweet spot. You'll reach high speed in drag speed so don't try to steer the car. Just tap in the direction you wanna go, and your car will automatically change lanes. Time your nitrous burst well to get the jump on the other racers. When you have the lead, try to watch the racers behind you, and if possible, run an interference by blocking their lane. Btw, this soundtrack is for speedtrap and bounty tutorial, not for drag tutorial, and don't forget to memorize the traffic pattern (this is the main key!)
