do you feel the cognition problems were due to the breakdown itself or could it be from medication side effects? (sorry if you covered that)
@@deadendrite I think it was a combination of both. Today I am off medication and managing pretty well as I've been able to heal over time. Cognitive issues have improved but not 100%. I'd say I'm 90-95% recovered.
Do you get intrusive thoughts too? I got a saltwater fish tank and its helped me, I can focus and obsess over something rather productive in a way. Goodluck though its always a battle. How have you been since this was recorded?
I used to get a lot of intrusive thoughts, these days it's no so bad. I've been doing well. Meds have been adjusted so that might be why. Back then I was using chess as my focus and escape. I still focus on chess for slightly different reasons. Thank you for your questions and comments!
Thank you for sharing your experience!
Any time! Thanks for watching 😊
now you can have alot of fun my friend blessings and best wishes have an amazing day stay safe stay conn thank you
Thank you!
2feet of snow. Send it here. Just don't knock out my electric Lol
Trust me, friend, you can have it all! Lol
very nice. Thank you. And I just posted a video of snow on a beach from the north of Russia. Happy viewing
Fabulous ❤️
I'm type 1 bipolar and I understand what you're living. Tell you that spring is coming and with him the hypomaniac and or manic phase.
Yeah I tend to get hypomanic during the spring/summer. I hope it's not too bad this year, lol.
This is the best video I've ever watched of yours
Thanks bro! Might I ask, what was it that made it good? Do you think I'm improving?
Sorry about your Dog I hope they feel better soon. I like how you flipped it to what is it like to not have Bipolar
My dog is back to 100% now. She's doing really well. Energy is back, she's eating again, no infections. We're happy to have our family member back! Yeah, flip the question around and it makes you think. Thanks again man.
@@northpolarcoaster1465 I'm glad your pup is great
Hope tour doing well. Listening.
I am doing pretty good right now, thanks man! I hope you're well as well. Keep on keeping on.
Hope your doing alright man and remember your not alone
Thanks man. I'm doing pretty good at the moment. Nothing to write home about. In any case, your message to people about not feeling or being alone has always stuck with me since I've seen your videos. So thank YOU my brother. Hope all is well you.
@@northpolarcoaster1465 That's great 🤟
Thank you for making these videos!!!! -Rob
Any time! I hope they help someone in relating to bipolar or as education for someone supporting somebody with bipolar. Your channel helps to inspire that mission. I'm like 5 uploaded videos but they'll eventually get put up. Thanks, Rob 😊
I'm like 5 uploaded videos behind*, that is.
Glad your doing good man. Enjoy MineCraft
Thanks man!
Morning!
Hi there! Good morning! Hope all is well.
he said my name!!!
Just for you buddy 😊
Hey I just now saw the comment you left on my channel regarding this video. Sorry I'm just now seeing this. The comment was in a folder for me to review. I think it's awesome you opened up and started a channel. Thank you so much for the shout out and support. New sub here
Thanks for stopping by! You definitely helped to inspire my channel so I wanted to help fight the stigma. Hopefully my little piece of youtube can contribute to that. Thanks for all you do, Gary. Cheers!
@@northpolarcoaster1465 I'm glad I was able to inspire you to tell your story to help others know they are not alone. keep it up
good insights brother, on thinking and thoughts
Thanks brother.
awe you need to let her win now and then :P
Maybe I'm just getting lucky or something, I don't think I'm particularly good at mancala... So next time I'll try to lose and see what happens hehe.
I have a friend who is happy to out me to everyone but I began by sending a detailed email to those close to me, with phone calls to the very closest
Oh gosh, that's not good. The preemptive coming out letter can be quite effective. How did that go?
Vaccines cause autism not bipolar ;P
Oh, right, what was I thinking? :P
Take yourself and love yourself as you are, where you are. You got this.
Thanks a lot, Forrest. I strive for that often. I just have to accept that I am that I am, and that's what matters. Thanks for your support, man.
You are not a narcissist you are learning about yourself
Thanks man :)
Repeated camera malfunctions make for repeated laughs :P
Lol, it's still a learning process. I'm glad you enjoyed that debacle.
You learn a lot about yourself looking back on gifts of creativity like this... thank you for sharing your journey with us, Jon :) I forgot I had the player on 1.5x speed and thought "Yes Jon, you are hypomanic dude!" :D How do you tell the difference between the beginning of hypomania and just feeling good from self-care or lots of extra sunlight? I think about my experience with not knowing when to stop, especially with jokes and topics. I've often been asked to stop and I'm having to apologize but I get it now and appreciate the help with boundaries. You are much more organized today... but it didn't help with the moose lol thank you for the safety tips and moose poo painting tips and the Alaska history :)
Lol! Good times. You're welcome, Forrest, I'm glad I can share some of my experiences and I hope they help you and others. :)
Have a good one!
Thank you!
NOTES! You are an evolving youtuber :) thank you for this! So helpful
You're so welcome bro!
Yesterday I couldn't do ANYTHING to feel better... hot bath, coffee, food... sleep. I could barely move. I wanted to be alone too, stay away. I feel better today and hope you do too. Learning to be patient and let these days pass... You are awesome and entertaining too lol My kids don't know Akira or Ninja Scroll but watch anime they don't know what anime is lol
Yeah, sometimes we just feel like crap and can't get out of the funk. Just gotta ride it out sometimes. The next day I was feeling a lot better tho, so that was good. I even made a couple of videos too. Worth it. Ah, Akira. Those were the days. Don't forget Ghost in the Shell, Ranma 1/2, and DBZ lol.
"I was born a ramblin maaaaaa-aaaan. Tryin to make a livin and doin the best I caaaa-aaaan."
And when it's time for leavin', I hope you'll understaaaaaaand, That I was born a ramblin' maaaaan. This was a good start for my day. At least I'm not alone, lol. Thanks man.
She is hilarious
She gets that from me ;)
Was such a good idea
Man, you daughter is so smart! She's got a good handle on it. My son is an only child too.
Thanks so much!
@@FreeMeLife Thanks! Yeah she is, I can't keep up with her anymore sometimes. I try my best to teach my daughter what's going on with me, and I was pleasantly surprised she was paying attention! Ha! And, how does your son like being an only child? Does he wish he had siblings?
@@northpolarcoaster1465 mine is pretty introverted lol
These are important steps
If you can think of any more I'd be happy to redo the video (cuz of the microphone) and add them. I'm all ears!
I think writing notes help me too!
Yeah I don't know how I've been able to do this channel so far without notes. Maybe I really do have something to say after all :P
Still low but like you said its like a roller coaster.
And it never stops (the roller coaster). You're just along for the ride and hoping your meds help you not get sick on the ride. At least we're not alone! <3
Also meant to say that I hope you feel better soon!
@@northpolarcoaster1465 thats right! We all need to stay connected somewhat.

Thanks for checking in 😊
Would your wife be open and talk about being on the other side of bi polar?
She might... I doubt it, but I'll ask her. Good question :)
I always get in trouble for forgetting important days like anniversaries... ugh... you are not a POS dude we just forget things... I stopped holidays years ago, thinking lately it's because I just have not had the capacity to plan for and prepare for all these special days and just causes me a ton of anxiety!
Thanks man, I appreciate it. I hear you on the anxiety part, but for me mostly I think it has to do with being disenfranchised with holidays in general. I can't get over how holidays are all about money these days, so I choose not to participate... which probably bled over into forgetting my anniversary, lol.
My little pony.
Hehe, aren't I good dad? I do what must be done! :D
@@northpolarcoaster1465 does this mean you are a "brony"?
@@northpolarcoaster1465 Yes...i remember names from the cars movie. He watched it like crazy!
@@healingwithforrest haha, naw
Wishing well for your friend!
Thanks, I'll let him know!
You dont do holiday's either? Same.
Yeah, I've sort of lost the holiday spirit, so to speak. When I see holidays, I see businesses trying to get people to buy stuff for those holidays and I choose not to participate in that too much.
@@northpolarcoaster1465 yup....same thinking here.. Some are judgemental but ehhh.
Not a shitty person, dates are hard to remember...but I understand her side too and I know your feeling.
Thank you for saying that. Yeah I'm definitely not a date person, but I don't have much of an excuse (I could set myself some reminders).
@@northpolarcoaster1465 i can understand that.
Its pretty there! I love curry and egg rolls...love thai food!
Thai food is the best! We've got really good Asian cuisine here.
@@northpolarcoaster1465 jealous lol
Nice to see you!
It's nice to see you too :) Cheers!
OMGoddess I love you, Jon... it's SO painful when kids are a trigger... my overactive thalamus kicks into overdrive and takes me into the depths of despair and ruminations of my failure as a father. It's so good though that you notice these triggers and can see it coming. Do you still sometimes miss the trigger like you don't know what did it? My triggers can just be a simple word or phrase, or the way someone touches me or a song... it usually catches me off guard, brings up a painful memory or just intense feelings I don't know the origin of, but if I'm prudent I will examine that feeling and try to remember the very first time I felt that way and usually I can find a time in my childhood when I felt that way and I can then go back in time and comfort that child in my mind to try and heal from it but that can be a long process like how could I do that when I'm in the middle of something and want to start freaking out, worse when anxiety is a part of it... then I have to have a time out or just go home for the rest of the day ugh I get your 4 hour limit too... bosses don't always understand... I don't understand your computer programming stuff lol Happy belated birthday!!! Your focus problems are identical to mine... takes a lot of energy to get refocused when distracted. The tunnelvision is a gift when you are interested in something constructive but would you maybe forget to care for yourself when that happens? Internet rabbit holes oh my...
I'll reply a bit later, but thanks for all the love, Forrest!
Sometimes I'll get triggered and I don't know where it came from. This happens a few times with my daughter, like some stressor that I didn't see before or see coming. I've been pretty good at recognizing them as they are after the fact though, and I try to learn from those.
I 100% understand the hypomania... I'm lucky I have friends who help me question my choices when I'm in these states, and I'm grateful to more and more have the wherewithal to catch myself before I get into too much trouble but it has been a journey figuring this out. It's so bizarre to "find" yourself in the midst of an episode, or better even still to believe wholeheartedly "Oh yay, all of a sudden I am well!" It sucks the hypomania feels so damn good... then 13 hours of sleep with no relief from crashing... all greatly effected by the weather! Thank you for helping us feel not so alone in this world, Jon :)
I agree, it's so hard to figure out. Hypomania tricks us into believing things that aren't technically true, but they are reasonable at the moment. Bipolar is a difficult mental illness because of this and how it changes your perception and your thinking. It's messed up! Oh yeah, I totally feel you on those crashes. Not a problem, Forrest. Thank you for watching this video and I hope you stay tuned for more. Cheers!
This is so encouraging Jon thank you SO much for sharing and being brave :) we need you
My pleasure! Thank you for watching my video and I hope you have a great day!
