Segway Ninebot Max G2 Ride - October 27 2024 Part 2- Final Ride for 2024 GoPro Hero 10 w/Live Data
Out for the last ride of 2024 on my Ninebot G2 Max scooter on a very windy fall day. This is part 2 of the video where we are exploring a new area on the North edge of the City in an area called Crescent Heights. The video was shot using a GoPro Hero 10 in 2.7K/60FPS, high bit rate with the max lens and media mods both installed. The live data is from the built in screen recording app on a Samsung S24.
The temperatures have started to drop, and snow is in the forecast. I have put the scooter away for the winter now and am looking forward to more rides next year. I do have some more footage from many rides this summer which I will be releasing over the winter along with other non-scooter v...

Great ride Neil. Thanks for taking me with.

Lol, toally and completely pro yes....👍
Hi bro. Is this sport mode or boost mode? Because it says 50 km for me in sport mode. But obviously it doesn't go that far, but about 35 km. I'm 108-110 kg at the moment.
I run in sport mode, the boost or "NOS" mode is part of the sport mode. Interesting tidbit that I have figured out: If you look at the battery gauge on the handlebar display, if the bottom segment is red in colour, then that means NOS/boost mode is available, and if the scooter decides it needs to use it, then it will kick in, if that bottom segment is not red, then it will not engage the NOS/boost mode. Also while in the boost mode, the speed display (again on the handle bar display) will turn red in colour. My estimated mileage used to say 52km in sport mode, but at some point it has corrected the number down to 40 which is much more realistic. I appreciate the support and taking the time to post comments on my vids....👍
@@NW1337_RUclips You know I told you the other day that I don't have boost mode because the firmware update was withdrawn by the manufacturer because it had a lot of bugs for users. It is supposed to be re-released. I can't update until then. Otherwise, what determines whether boost mode is available? You could also show other landscapes and terrain in your videos. I would be curious to see it.
@@liveinthemoment8965 Oh, dang I must have missed that, I didn't realize that the firmware was recalled. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with heat build up in the motor, it seems to kick in a lot when you first start out, but after riding for a while it kicks in less and less often. I agree that I need to change up the scnerey, after part 2 of this ride next week, I am going to edit up a E-Bike ride I shot rom back in July from a different area.
@@NW1337_RUclips How long does the weather last in Canada? Here in Hungary the cold weather is slowly setting in. I have to put the scooter in the cellar. I can get it out around April or May.
@@liveinthemoment8965 Pretty much the same here where I am. Looking at the short term forecast it looks like I might be done riding for this year, and it will probably be May or June when I can get back on the Scooter and E-Bike.
Hello my friend. How did you save the on-board data that you see in the left and right corners? Iphone screenshot? Because I tried that method, but every 8-10 minutes the bluetooth signal breaks and the phone doesn't record the correct data with the screenshot. Thanks for the reply.
I'm using the built in screen recorder app on my Samsung S24. It works very well, and have never had the bluetooth signal drop. However, one downside is that it does record at a variable frame rate, so when I go to edit the video for RUclips, I have to basically re-format the video for 60fps, which the editing program (shotcut in my case) will do for me. Not sure about Iphones, but the screen recorder on the samsung can also record the ambient sound at the same time, so when I start a ride I will honk the horn on my vehicle which gets recorded by the gopro and the phone, then in editing I sync the two videos up using the audio so the live data matches what the video is showing. I then disable or delete the audio from the phone as it sounds horrible from the rattling of the phone holder. Hope some of that helps you.
@@NW1337_RUclipsthx :)
Hi. I have a question. I put the scooter on 52% charge and in 3 days it was down to 42% charge. I have had several such drastic dives without using the scooter. The locator function is on, but it consumes very little power. That should not make it possible. Have you ever been like this? What do you think could be causing this? Is this a normal phenomenon? Because I don't think so.
Interesting, Yes, I have noticed that the battery level will drop a bit if I leave the scooter sitting for a few days, but I have not quantified it. I will pay attention to it and let you know what I find out. 10% drop in 3 days does seem high though. I do not use the locator function on mine though.
Hello my friend. Are you using a medium backfill or a heavy one? My other question is, when pulling the brake lever, is the backfill more effective than when rolling with the medium backfill?
I believe you are referring to the regenerative braking, I have it set to medium. I haven't tried the heavy one yet, but I find medium works well and keeps my speed down on pretty steep slopes. Sometimes I will need to use the brake lever as well las the regenerative brake, but as far as I can tell, the brake lever does not actually control the regenerative braking, I believe the regenerative brake kicks in when you let go of the throttle, which does seem weird because the scooter isn't able to coast. Anyway, sorry for the long reply, but yes I have got used to using it and I do like it.
@@NW1337_RUclips Thank you very much for your reply! I was very surprised that braking does not trigger regenerative braking.
How much do you weigh?
Well.......lets just say the weight limit for this scooter is 265 Lbs and I am over that by a fair margin...... 🤣hehe.
@@NW1337_RUclips Then I don't understand... I weigh 108 kg. For me, even in D mode, the mileage counter goes down much faster. For me, the actual distance I can drive in D mode is 35 km. Today was my first ride on the scooter. What do you think is the reason for this? Because I can see that yours is a much better mileage saver.
@@liveinthemoment8965 Not sure, but I have a few ideas. Sounds like your scooter is new, I have over 400km on mine, the battery will improve with a few charge/discharge cycles as lithium batteries all do. I do note that my scooter used to estimate my range as 52km on a full battery, but it now has changed that to 40km. I have been keeping a spreadsheet of many rides where I track %battery vs distance, and tried to come up with a realistic estimated range. To be honest I believe the actual true range of my scooter to be somewhere between 30 and 40 km depending on the terrain, not much different than what you are seeing. Also notice in these videos that I always ride between 100% and about 50% battery, below that the power and distance start to drop like a rock. I also have the top speed limited to 25km in the app, not sure if that makes any difference, but I just do that because I don't feel safe above that speed. Hope any of that helps....👍
@@NW1337_RUclips Yes, the scooter is almost new. But today I got more out of it in S mode than I did yesterday in D mode. So the battery is better. Otherwise, if I understand correctly, the range display is accurate and adapts to the user? That sounds great, because it will be more accurate over time. I really like the scooter so far.
Nice vid Bruh!!! Enjoyed that.
Thank you very much..👍

The display looks great in shaded light but looks very washed out and difficult to see in full sunlight. Is that how it looks to you and is there any way to increase the brightness for daylight riding?
It is legible in full sun, I think the washed out look is from the camera. Also I still have the peel off screen protector that came with the bike on the display hehe. The display dims when you turn the headlight on, but other than that I am not sure if you can adjust the brightness. Next time I'm out for a ride I will go into the settings and see if there is a way to adjust the screen, but to answer your question, I have never had any problem reading it in person so far.
Hi, how do you like the bike so far?thinking of getting the elegant but still hesitant about some bad stories with ebikes in general...i also live in montreal and no way to get the bike fixed locally compared to people living in BC
I'm just a bit under 1,400km so far with this bike and it has been flawless. I will need new tires soon as I ride mostly on pavement. but that's really it for maintenance. I didn't really look into the elegant, but if it is like the Yukon, then it is a tank. I've never regretted getting this bike, I think it was money extremely well spent. Make sure you look into how to properly care/charge the lithium batteries, as the single most expensive part of the bike is the battery and you will want to take good care of it.
Nice video
Thank you.

Thanks Dan, yes I have always been quite impressed with the video coming from the GoPro for what it is. Just wish they didn't run so hot....👍
@@NW1337_RUclips I really liked my Hero 11 and the image quality was stable and sharp. It was the files I hated. They were big but not huge..still, even with reduced sizes the files would sputter and spit during editing. It worked best if I did short runs on the video and the overall file size was smaller (well split up actually lol). I got it to do full sensor and crop in post but that was a mess lol. Thinking back 🤔I never had an issue with overheating because I did short runs. On a bike or scooter, I’d do GoPro for sure! I’m hoping they release a Max 2 at some point. Insta360 is really the only one doing 360.
The GoPro will run off external usb power without a battery…maybe less heat? Fun to watch people shrink lol
Good point, and my E-Bike even has a USB outlet on it as well, hmmmm you may be on to something there....Thanks for checking in Dan, and I hope that X20 isn't giving you a blister on the trigger finger hahah.👍
@@NW1337_RUclips nope, trigger finger is fully calloused lol. I had a Volta grip with a hero 10/11. In the summer I would remove the GP battery and go with the juice from the grip. Heck, you could even leave the battery door off (might get dusty though). If I remember right the GP forgets the date when you remove the battery.??? Weird. Anyway, I would usually thumb past the enter date screen and shoot with default date lol. If I’m not mistaken GP will shut off the monitor while recording (with a set shut off time) if you didn’t need to monitor the recording that might help too. Either way, happy riding!!!

@@NW1337_RUclips yes I saw that. Thank you
Following along on google maps. It seems Police Point was named after the Royal Northwest Mounted Police. Their barracks were on the site. Had to be rough territory in late 1800's. Nice video. Just ordered a new Hero 10. My hero 8 keeps crapping out on me.
Thanks Richard, for sure Alberta would have been "the wild west" back in those days. Police Point Park is a beautiful ride in the fall. It's awesome that you are getting a Hero 10, I can attest that it is a very solid camera, and at the new low price point since the Hero 12 came out, its a steal. (Ya, I just picked up a second one as well...lol) The only issue I have ever had with my 10 was it overheating on very hot days when I wasn't moving very much.

Thanks Richard, yes fall has definitely begun here, and I have to get out riding as much as possible before the snow flies hahaha...👍
Well it's my ole buddy from Medicine hat! How have you been? Good to see you back out. Is that seat helping you?
Hey Richard, good to be back, and yes the new seat has been great, much more comfortable than the one I had, I appreciate the suggestion on that. I've been riding lots this summer but haven't been filming much, its been very smoky, hot, dry etc. up here and wouldn't make a very good video, but I hope to post some more going into fall and winter. Take care.
Interesting. I was briefly stationed at the military base nearby in the early 80's. I wonder what the story is with the black and white timber framed building on the left at about 10:05?
Very cool, If you were stationed at CFB Suffield, the base is still there and active today. I'm not too sure what the history of this particular building is, but it does stand out from the other buildings downtown with the timber framing. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Is there a big difference between the file size if you record the same length video between 264 and 265? My version came with 2.0 firmware, and they took out the 265 apparently. Wondering if I should put in an older firmware or not.
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. I went back and looked at a couple files from this outing. The H.264 used approximately 0.35 GB / Minute of video, the H.265 was running at approximately 0.293 GB / Minute of video, so maybe 16% savings or so on storage based on my test. Also I would suggest that if you are happy with the video performance I would not try new firmware. I had a lot of trouble with mine once I updated the firmware, and even though I eventually went back to the original 1.0 firmware, the camera was never the same again. Akaso has released a few different hardware revisions on the V50X so putting the incorrect firmware onto one can cause issues including bricking it.
@@NW1337_RUclips I see, so not drastically smaller. After research into this, I have found that I do have the newest HW version, so none of those posted firmware will work, and I'm stuck with the h.264. I'm not overly concerned with the new changes, as I only shoot in 1080, and the audio is not too horrible (and if I do underwater audio won't matter). Akaso did offered me 5% refund because of this....that's like pocket change.
Thinking about buying one, but top speed of 32kph is holding me back. Do you find the bike slow, boring? What top speed have you reached on it?
I haven't had it going over about 26 Km/H to be honest. I generally ride on the bike paths where there are pedestrians, other bikers, dogs, etc. so I have to keep it somewhat tamed..lol. I think there is a way to get rid of that limiter in the settings, but don't quote me on that. I am sure that information is out there somewhere, or I could take a look at the menus next time i take a ride if you can't find the info. I don't think the bike is boring at all, its a lot of fun. You can also go above 32km/hr any time you want, just by using the pedals, keep in mind it is pretty heavy. Thanks for watching a leaving a comment.

I'm not sure I can identify what 'issues', you're referring to in your video heading?? The imagery seems GREAT, short of a bit more contrast-ness..? A smidgen darker if anything but richer in color? Don't get it...
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. I did do a bit of a run down all of the issues in the description of the video, but I have to say the worst issue that really couldn't be worked around was the variable frame rate which causes the stuttering of the video. It might depend on what you are watching it on (phone, or tv, or PC) but when I view this video on a PC monitor, the stuttering is so horrendous that I wouldn't use the footage.
@@NW1337_RUclips Verrrrrreey interesting. I do quite a bit of photography and editing and the video I ‘see’ on YT shows none of your descriptive context (reason why I articulated). I watched on a 2015 MacBook Pro additionally and the vid looked perfect in that, there was no stuttering… I’ll re-watch it and review it closer but for what I can identify, zero issues from a ‘viewer’ standpoint. I’ll review it my brand new iMac on Safari and Chrome to give a response. Cheers. I just bought the V50x and it’s in firmware 4.1. No issues with these vids I can see either per se. (Full disclosure; been messing with it for only 8 hours…)
Hello, I like that idle sound of an ES44AC. Maybe I can put it on my Trackmaster Talking Edward, Trackmaster Talking Henry, and Trackmaster RC Hiro by adding the train audio on iMovie. Thanks for that audio.
Your welcome, glad you enjoyed the video.
Можно силку на прошивку 4.0
3.0 sucks compared to 1.0. Only thing needing addressed was audio quality.
May I know the Fireware is 1.0 or 3.0??
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. I am about 99% sure this was V1.0. I did try to update the firmware on the V50X as I was having some issues with the memory card. When I tried to update the firmware to either 2.0 or 3.0 (Can't seem to find the email right now) it basically bricked the camera. I had to hunt around the web and eventually found someone with V1.0 firmware available to download and was able to un-brick my camera. There is about a 1% chance this is on V2.0 firmware, as I cant remember which version bricked the V50X, but it was definitely 2.0 or 3.0 that bricked it. The videos I have up of the V50X using v3.0 and V4.0 firmwares are all from a different newer V50X which I ended up returning to Amazon.
Life goes on despite dead grass and neglected headstones at Alderson Cemetery. Thanks for the photos, Scott Alderson Poet, 9 books in print & 11 RUclips videos (Scott Alderson Poet)
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. It was a goal of mine for many years to get to the Alderson town site and the grave yard, and I am very glad to have had the chance to document and share it.

@@NW1337_RUclips no worries.
Unlike most foamers I don't care for horns bells and whistles. I'm all in it for the engines sounds. THIS video is so freaking awesome as it's sole focus is the engine. Bravo 20/10.
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it.
