I can relate to losing your school friend group, I lost mine when we parted ways after tenth grade, as we all proceeded to go to different schools, I still have their contacts and I'm pretty sure we still live in the same country but it feels weird to just randomly contact them after like 3-4 years of complete silence. That left me without a real friend group for a long while, but thanks to DST I was able to find a long term online friend group and now we just play games together, having fun and all that. I did also meet someone in person who I ended up becoming friends with, though we mostly just play games online now, which is completely fine by me. But since I started working for the first time like 3 months ago it's hard to find the time to play games anymore as I'm always coming home exhausted, which sucks because I'm also an artist and now I find it hard to find the motivation to draw at all despite all the ideas that are in my head (I work as an Electrician for Automation btw). Also coming back to the game, Reign of Giants is essentially just Don't Starve but with more content (where as Shipwrecked and Hamlet change the entire world you play in) which is why I would recommend only playing Reign of Giants if you want to have the best Don't Starve experience, but after all, that's completely up to you. Using Monster Meat in the Crockpot is fine as long as you don't use more than one (otherwise it will turn into Monster Lasagna) if you're all out of options you can make Kabobs using multiple Monster Meats, Twigs and some filler (since Monster Lasagna doesn't accept Twigs in it's recipe. Also don't make Jam because 4 cooked berries combined give you more hunger than the Jam (and the 3 health and 5 sanity that Jam gives are usually not all that worth it).

So my assumption was right, in non Reign of Giants worlds ice doesn't spawn near pengulls, as a matter of fact it straight up doesn't exist without the dlc (sorry if not all my tips apply to you, but I've never played without Reign of Giants and I genuinely didn't know what was exactly included with the dlc) But I can tell you another nice trick for winter. You can use a torch to light isolated trees on fire for warmth (still keep stuff for a campfire incase there's no isolated trees around you) you can put your thermal stone on top of the burning tree for it to absorb as much heat as possible and you yourself can run into the burning tree in and quickly out again for heat (you won't take burning damage for as long as you don't stand too close to the burning tree for too long) Also you can passively gather charcoal for fire fuel or crafts this way. As for your food issues, I'd recommend hunting for Koalafants for their meat which will keep you fed for a good while. Finding tracks can be a bit hard but you will come across them eventually (actually reaching the end of the trail can be hard when you never rotate your camera, as tracks often spawn out of sight from your current camera angle, I'd recommend rotating your camera more often in general, I usually have my camera rotated towards the direction im currently going). Actually fighting a Koalafant is super easy (it's literally the same attack pattern as beefalo) however, engaging a Koalafant can be a little tricky, at best you can try luring the Koalafant to the edge of the world and then attack it when it's cornered. Also Nitre would be more useful if you had the Reign of Giants dlc, but yeah pretty much useless, it has some niche crafts in DS but usually even veterans don't touch those crafts. To answer your question, I enjoy most when you talk about the old times and how we used to play video games back then (like going over to a friends house to play games or inviting them to you) I can greatly relate to this and find it sad that as an adult it's hard to do this because it can feel awkward, especially because a lot of the friends I had back then probably don't even play video games anymore or are not that interested in them anymore. I also like it when you tell something about yourself, because it allows you to get to know the guy making the video a lot better and have them be more than just a voice commenting over gameplay, it also makes the video more lively and interesting.

So here's a couple things about Winter. Birds will no longer drop seeds and plants (excluding trees and cacti) will stop growth entirely until the end of winter. Also the trick to surviving winter is using 1 morsel (or any type of meat) and 3 ice to make meatballs, this is the most effecient recipe for meatballs (don't ask me how melting ice on a piece of meat improves its quality but it ain't stupid if it works). You will be able to obtain a lot of ice near penguins (unless that's different in non Reign of Giants worlds) and inside of the rocky biome during winter (please do not mistake the biome you were setting home in as a rocky biome, that biome is called the mosaic biome, you will know a rocky biome when you see it). Don't be afraid to use your googles, since you can still upgrade your googles even though their on 1%. And the best way to obtain Pig Skin is by giving 4 monster meat to a pig which will cause it to transform into a werepig which if killed always drops 2 meat and 1 pig skin (versus the 75% meat, 25% pig skin drops from normal pigs). Also Wormwood is part of the Hamlet dlc.

Suspicious dirt isnt beefalo, it's actually either a Koalefant, a Ewecus, or in reign of giants it could be a Varg. You interact with the dirt and it turns into a foot print, and you follow the direction of the foot print to another suspicious dirt pile. Do that until your character says something about a beast being nearby. Koalefants have two forms, and each drop a lot of meat when killed and their trunks. Their trunks are used for winter gear and are Very Useful. The Ewecus is disgusting and i wouldnt recommend fighting it without about 4 pig men following you. Also the eye plant cant spread on carpet, wood flooring, and rocks. You can kill it and place it again wherever you want. It's useful for when you want to get rid of an item cause it destroys whatever the eyes eat eventually. Where it is now, it's harmless. Also i manage an office, which is how i get to watch your videos at work :) tho right now I'm watching while holding my cat and playing Don't Starve: Reign of Giants. I hadnt played in so long i never knew Wagstaff existed, and I'm really enjoying playing him. Currently farming Krampus for his backpack.

I must apologize about yesterdays comment, as it included some false information which was mostly bc I remembered it from Woodies Pre Rework state in DST and assumed it worked the same or similar on how it works in DS. (I have not played DS or DS Woodie for that matter in a long time, so sorry that I must correct myself here) Now not everything I said was false, but I will note down my mistakes. 1. Woodies human form cannot eat wood, this was a Pre Rework DST thing, so in order to avoid Beaver form in DS you simply must not chop trees for a max of 2 minutes and 5 seconds. (assuming your Were-meter was as full as possible without transforming so the actual wait time might be shorter, at best pay attention to what Lucy is saying to you) 2. Woodie will turn into Werebeaver on a full moon even when going to caves and it might be deadlier than transforming on the surface, since you must rely on natural light to survive after transforming back since you'll otherwise be surrounded in darkness. 3. In Werebeaver form the Were-meter will actually not decrease from choping trees it will only decrease passively. Sorry for the mistake, I'll make sure to only grab information from very certain memory or fact check through the wiki as best as I can going forward.

This is how Woodie's transformation works, your Were-meter (which is hidden in human form) will increase every time you chop a tree (Lucy even gives you warnings about this) and when it's full you will transform into Werebeaver, in order to prevent this you need to consume wood which will decrease the Were-meter and maintain your human form, however in Werebeaver form the way your Were-meter works is reversed, chopping trees will decrease your Were-meter and eating wood will maintain your Werebeaver form, additionally the Were-meter will passively decrease and will decrease when you're hit (I advise to not die from mobs in Werebeaver form bc when you transform back whatever killed you might still be there when you tranform back and immediately aggro on you). It should be noted that Woodie will be forced into Werebeaver form on a full moon and will be forced to lose a lot of stats if they were in good shape when you transformed. I'm pretty certain this can be avoided by ducking down into the caves for the night, though this can be annoying to do bc you'd have to do that for 2 days in a row. I'm usually not one to watch unedited Don't Starve playthroughs, but it's also not every day you find someone play this game blind in 2024, so I'll just take this and try to help where ever there are questions. Also, I should say that this game IS best enjoyed blind, so if you ever feel like I'm giving too much information feel free to tell me.

Maxwell's door leads you to Adventure Mode, where you rush through either 5 or 6 (I can't remember) challenge worlds. The goal is essentially to meet and beat Maxwell. The world's can be Very Challenging, but if you die in Adventure mode you're spat back out the door to the normal world without anything lost. It could be fun but I think it would be very very hard without getting a good grasp on the average world first. Also the football helmet requires the alchemy engine. I think Woodie can only turn into a beaver in regular dont starve. The moose and goose are exclusive to dont starve together. A shame cause it would be cool to have all three in single player 😩 but the beaver is still very fun Edit: I'd rush getting a crock pot and a log suit since you're struggling with health and fighting. Also a football helmet. I'd recommend meatballs in the crock pot since you get so much monster meat.

For a quick sanity boost, find and cook some green mushrooms. You can find them at dusk. It's -1 health but that really ain't bad. Once you get a crock pot there are some recipes that are great for sanity :)
