Could have saved yourself lot of grief at start finding oil bust oil filter housing first thing you should have dropped oil out the sump checked it & found engine particles instead of wasting time try getting it running
Do you plan on doing anything to the new motor since it’s already out? I would do rods and pistons and make it a track monster
I would love to but I have a R56 track car
Remember you’re learning something everyday 👍
@@jonathanwheatley1424 absolutely mate! That’s what I love about doing this stuff👌🏽
if i was you i would change all belts on the engine including timing belt/chain then you have piece of mind knowing it is all done. good choice to replace the turbo.
Did you scratch your watch face?why you keep it on?
@@Marcbolan1977 I wear it for work so not a big deal if it gets even more damaged its a old girl now 🤣
Great effort lads, think I’ve got this to do next on my caddy build 🤣👀👊
Nice workmanship chaps... Strongly recommend you fit a new Auxiliary drive belt whilst the engine is out. So much easier to do whilst the engine is out the car...
@@adrianmeredith6818 I thought that! Will do this!
Feelin them vibes 😉😂👌
Villa game 😂😂😂 only team in claret and blue is BURNLEY 😂😂😂💜💙😂
Good lad! Let's get that engine back in and fired up!
Glad you got it started but it dosent sound very healthy the engine on the video?
@@adamlittle4267 check out the latest videos to see !
Take out the oil filter first and inspect (open it up if it's a screw on). If you see sparkles then little point dropping the sump because it's screwed.
I took the oil filter out when I was buying the engine and it was sound👌🏽
Keep going bro, you're a good mecanic im so excited to join the apprenticeship in mechanic it's a nice craft
Thank you! Absolutely nothing more rewarding than working on something yourself!
Bro, Nice work! Before fitting (or thinking about fitting) the new engine - *do a compression/leak-down test,* then *drop the sump* & inspect the *"new"* engine. Check they're worth working on *first!* It's basically free, and saves some heartache + "open wallet surgery". :p
Just binge watched the Mini episodes. Great content. Personally I'd prefer no music and more of you talking about the work as you proceed. Good luck, subscribed 👍
@@rogerkretzschmar8280 thank you for the support! I enjoy making it so advice and find out what people enjoy is good! Appreciate it 👌🏽
no doubt the engine was run after the crash, annoying! A ton of work to do the engine but good for content!
Hey bud. Great video. Enjoying your journey. When making mistakes, dont swear or mute it out. I watch these with my son and have explaining to do when he hears lol. But overall. Looking forward to seeing it done
if the scoring on the crank not too bad you could get it refinished/polished and put new bearings in it....
Well done . Thanks for the uploads . Probably best to swap wiring harness over as will most probably be different connection
@@jasperj4607 thank you ! Will be doing a full swap:)
Nice work pal. Sorry it was the big end 👍💪
@@kotm3 thank you! Just think of the content that’s the way I see it 👌🏽
Most likely will have to swap looms over and also check ifnyou need a pilot bearing for the crank for the clutch dont wanna be waiting on that
Keep up the good work mate. I've just rebuilt a vw caddy cat s on my drive so know your pain of chasing daylight and being knackered after work.
Thank you mate! yep nightmare trying to balance it all but will be so rewarding when its done !
@jacobbaggott1 content is great mate, future Mat Armstrong in the making 👌
@@Foster_85 appreciate the support! Haha never know mate 🤣I’ll be honest I didn’t plan on swapping a engine out on my first series 🤣
@jacobbaggott1 I didn't think I'd have to teach myself to weld inner wing panels 🤣 Won't be long until your standing back and admiring your handy work, then looking for the next project 😉
Hi mate im pretty sure you need to fit a spigot bearing when changing an auto engine in to a manual car just check could save you a world of pain
@@colinpoole7641 thanks mate I will have a look into it !
Well done for taking this on you will learn a lot along the way 👍

£4200 what about fees from the salve company? Not worth £2500 🤷
Let's go, good luck with the swap 🫡

That engine's doing more knocking than postman pat😢
youre pretty clueless, please dont do anymore
@@pauloneill8912 I’d agree I’m completely clueless but unfortunately I’m gonna do more

Nice videos im a mini guy myself i shoukd put my project on i also built lots of damaged cars there always a gamble from copart etc looks like its going to be a engine out and strip down so all the hard work as to be done again 😢 but thats minis for you rich mechanic
@@richardsykes2315 love a mini when it’s working hahah! Thanks for support!
No offence pal, but anyone with ear for engines could tell the big end was knocking in your last video. I hope it’s not that sound. Enjoying your journey mind 👍
Rod knock bottom end is shot my friend
Yes, I had a BMW Z3M Coupe [Breadvan] that sounded just like this, it had 'spun' the big end shells on No. 6 cyl. That was a recon engine about £6.5K 10 or more years ago.
Thats probably either a cracked piston or rod knock
good video. you need tags as thats costing you views as someone else mentions. but overall, work through your issues and remain positive. you got this!!
@@kaisersoze6993 appreciate it mate thank you !
PRO tip from someone who has been fixing cars/Trucks for over 40 years.. if you start an engine and it is "knocking" do not run it to temp.. infact turn it off right away remove it from the car and take the sump off and rocker cover.. if it is the bottom end the more you run it the more damage you will do to the crank...
“Oh I Though “?
@@BullyBoxer 🤣 “thought” stupid mistake 🤦🏽♂️
@@jacobbaggott1 I’m still watching don’t worry .😂👍🏼
@@BullyBoxer appreciate it !!
Told you bro. Drop the sump *before you go any further.* Mweh, don't say I didn't tell you 😢
Ah bugger about the engine, hopefully you can find another and if not try win another car at auction just for parts :)
your videos need to be longer pal,and you have no channel tags which will be costing you hundreds of fews per day.
Great video mate. I’m looking forward to the next one. I can’t wait for you to work out the fix and see this car driving
this is why it was written off, because can be a can of worms to fix it and so insurance companies write them off. you have done a good job so far rebuilding this car. i think with the heavy impact and it broke the oil filter housing etc, the engine could have be subject to oil starvation, but nobody's knows how long the engine after the impact. like someone said about checking the timing chain and running gear. you might as well check under the rocker cover (valve cover) manually turn over the engine. use a borescope in the spark plug holes, check tensioners, VANOS, and all the usual.
@@sk8guitardrums thank you mate! Absolutely we recon it is down to oil starvation from the oil filter housing but the full inspection will tell us the full story !
As i thought. Crank probably shot, spun bearings i reckon.
@@garywebster6453 nothing that can’t be fixed ay !
@@jacobbaggott1 fair enough, those days are long behind me now. Older and no need to be messing under bonnets no more.
Sounds like really heavy chain slap mate, they have hydraulic tensioners so if it’s run without oil no chain tension, I would t run the car anymore until you’ve checked the chain, I’d definitely stop bolting parts on until you’ve looked into that chain.
