Is the NaaS Hype Just Hot Air?
What if the hype around Network as a Service (NaaS) is just a bubble waiting to burst? In this episode of Cables to Clouds, Chris, Tim, and Alex critically examine a research report that forecasts the NaaS market soaring to $285 billion by 2032. We dissect the report’s broad and somewhat perplexing definitions of NaaS, scrutinize the inclusion of traditional networking giants like Juniper, Cisco, and IBM, and express our doubts about the report's credibility and understanding of NaaS. Join us as we ponder whether the authors truly grasp the essence of NaaS and its evolving role in the industry.

One very interesting item of note is that the updates are HEAVILY focused on sustainability-focused infrastructure design, in consideration of AI workloads. So when sorting through the specific details it actually makes sense that it's already making its way into the cert exam. From the viewpoint of considering sustainability-focused infrastructure designing, the necessary considerations and line of thinking aren't really all that new, it's just being massively accelerated now, with the boom of gen AI and the resource demands stemming from it...

At my job, they have been leaning very hard onto the excuse of "we adjust pay according to the your market value" when talking about raises. That's great for the executives, and bad for regular employees. I actually saw my company's name on a list of companies that paid zero taxes in the "Tax Me If You Can" documentary. Oh, and they laid off a lot of people last year while hiring heavily the year before and a good amount this year. Needless to say, the company has been doing very well... It's mind-boggling.

Makes sense for Frontier to work with existing accounts and extend into the campus. They already have people that go on-site and they're familiar/trusted. So, handing over some of burden of managing a network to them and Nile is smart. It allows the IT team to quarterback versus performing upgrades, tuning a config all night, replacing broken cables, etc.

Knowing the total cost of ownership of a cloud implementation is essential. Not only from a financial standpoint but people and time cost in terms of end user and IT support training, transitioning from thing a to thing b, etc.
