Why are people playing this and not the much superior game, Fishing Planet?

Can you click the buttons with a mouse below the wheel etc without bringing up a menu? Can’t seem to do this with controller

one of the best summaries of the demise of the angler i've heard. But a few points, RF4 is the market leader and has no bass 😃 Don't get wrapped up with the north american market being vital to success, its still a good market but Asia is bigger, just look at the chinese version of twitch, its rammed packed with rf4 streamers and viewers. Open world is all very nice with huge maps but irl fishing just isn't like that for most around the world,, there'll be a fence behind you or the opposite river bank out of bounds as it belongs to someone else, so open world is lovely fantasy fishing but not of huge importance nor a big selling point to many, the water in front of you is what counts not land. Besides, most fishing games allow you to roam pretty freely and fish wherever you wish on a map.

After you adjusted the seat, how did you exit back to driving?? I just downloaded it and i adjusted my seat but now cannot get out of the blasted menu. Keep pressing triangle to no avail. For the record i am in tutorial still

I loved the game and have 1000 XP at Spain and Norway maps. No need to save up XP and money for future upgrades anymore. Sad news indeed. I figured it would always be around.

Hey man, I came across another RUclipsr's Fernbus videos yesterday, and apparently, the developers added Heidenheim and Bochum as stops to the game now. I believe this is on PC?

RF4 = most realistic fishing experience with environment physics accounted for, everything has weight and form that takes effect + most unrealistic predatory p2progress mechanics where your gear breaks down way too easy ,snagged, often you're grinding hours only to spend it on repairing your reel and buying a new line. FP - arcade version of RF4 , feels very programmed, fishing is not so random but defined by your level and "where you should be at" , in order to entice you to spend in cash shop for skipping the road game forces you to take. COTW the angler -> graphics and map size is amazing, puts the above two to shame. Everything else is a cartoonish downsized version of a fishing experience. No skill progression, gear options are very few and linearly progressive, total takle and bait options are less than what you'd have available in RF4 at level 1, no wear and tear , sell back so whatever you do, you can't loose money. No actual physics or anything involved in fishing besides the barebone reel, make sure to downsize drag when red. Snapping your line just resets your setup, you don't loose hook and bait. When a fish bites, it just does, there's no enticing, playing with the food, no fake bites no nothing. Once the game signals an incoming bite, it will bite, the only way to loose that fish is if you don't reel at all. Bottom fishing is a joke, if something bites but you're not striking within next 10-15 secods, the fish will always get away. In RF4 you could let your 3 bottom rigs, go for a coffee and cigarette and when you get back if it caught something, it's still there fighting your line tension. Wind and water flow doesn't affect anything, it's just for the eye candy. You could float fish under a waterfall and your float sits whilst rushing water waves and currents go over it, not moving with the current at all. Worst of all, your character is stuck in place with some 80degree arc for movement so if the fish goes sideways, you'll be stuck with your camera snapping left right uncontrollably, half screen covered by overly sized arms and reel so you can't even see what you caught and where it goes. COTW the angler did amazing with visuals and atmosphere unfortunately it's just eyecandy and nothing that affects your fishing experience. Also the fish spawn the more you fish so you can see people farming a 20 meter wide pond in some remote place for a while, they'll start pulling 10kg cat fish one after another out of it which is completely absurd. If COTW the angler team would actually implement physics in this game, it would be 100x more better as a fishing experience. The forced map exploration is boring, nobody wants to go around hunting for dead plants and trees for hours in a fishing game, wtf was that. Remove that silliness and improve the actual fishing simulation. I still remember as a low level my legendary fights with bigger fish in RF4 . How I was trying to steer it against the current, force the fish to change direction, avoid snapping my line by chasing him around half the lake because I COULD MOVE . One time I spent a real time hour to fight some carp only to end up dragging him out of the water by moving back on the terrain after getting him in a place where water flowed towards the land because my reel/line wasn't strong enough to pull it out and physics worked. Or the float fishing where fish would keep toying and playing with you , you'd never knew if it's a bite or not until you strike. COTW = sound alarm = 100 bite , strike, press one button to reel until you pull it out.
