SHIN ULTRAMAN: Theater Review and First Thoughts
I'm surprised they started with this one for the Hensis era instead of The Return of Godzilla.
@@mr.sand7899 same here! They might have chosen it since it’s the one film that hasn’t been available in the longest time and fans haven’t been waiting for another HD release of the film.
Toho only has this, Return, and MG2 on 4K. I doubt CC will release each Heisei era film individually, but maybe they did this for Biollante because it’s the only one they got the 4K rights to. I think a box set for the rest is still in the cards though. And to be frank, Biollante is the film that would do the best as an individual release.
@@michaelyakiwchuk43 A boxset would be Criterion’s best route. Not only because they already did the Showa set, but also it’ll be easier to wrap the remaining 13 films into one set plus bonus material. Much lower cost on packaging
They already introduced aliens to the Monsterverse tho
Ghidorah is an alien, yes. I'm referring to the introduction of alien races. The Millennians in G2K are a race of aliens, not just a single creature.
@ they could introduce a species of ALIEN TITANS as an alternative. The same way we have our earth titans
I am DESPERATE to see a monsterverse adaptation of destroyah.
Same! I thought we would have had him already but then they shifted their focus to Kong predominantly.
4:15 I believe Doug is a foetodon like in Peter Jackson’s King Kong but way more fan favoritable
@@Garryzilla That’s what most of my research came back with for him as well. If Legendary does address it, I wouldn’t be surprised if they kind of change things up a bit with him too
You mean like Doug becoming zilla out of no where@
@ That’s a possibility. I was thinking more that he turns out to be some elemental creature similar to Shimo. Almost like a pseudo-GMK type of role. That’s a far grasp but I could see them doing something like that
Godzilla theme on guitar? Love it !
@@SamuelDautry Thank you man!! Be sure to spread the word about it!
Love it!!!!❤
@@alanbelcher1434 thank you my friend!!
Something unrelated, who does the guitar in the intro of this video? By the way, as an Asian-American, I like how you respect Yamasaki-san .
Thank you for the comment my friend! Greatly appreciated. That would be yours truly actually. Just something small I came up with on the fly. I have thought of re-doing the intro as of recently
@@TokuCentral_Official Your guitar sound has a tinge of Dann Huff. Slightly reminiscent of his intro to the song 'I'm a Believer' when he led the group 'Giant'. Love the distortion sound...crisp!
@@EvilTheOne thank you man! Appreciate it! Keep an eye out for another cover hitting the channel soon!
@@TokuCentral_Official Was that guitar intro a cover?
@ Nope! All original. Like I said, just something small I threw together
I think headorah would make sense for the timeline post nuclear age = smog monster?
I feel that’s the route they’ll most likely go to be honest. Yamazaki has already said that he’d like to bring Hedorah back.
6 out of 115 people liked😭😭😭😭 Noce video so underrated
@@Elite_kong sincerely appreciate the sentiment my friend!!
@TokuCentral_Official 😀
I prefer Godzilla
Same here. Gotta show Kong some love on the channel too though
Thanks for a great review of a great movie! Thanks also for not being simplistic like so many reviewers who get it wrong by saying Gorgo as just a "Godzilla Rip Off." If I may add my rationale for your viewers: Gorgo was NOT "Just a Godzilla Rip Off" and I say so for several reasons: 1. Gorgo is a totally different creature that looks nothing like Godzilla. 2. The noble character, purpose, and motivation of Mama Gorgo is the polar opposite of the randomly destructive character of Godzilla. 3. The plot of Gorgo is very original and not even remotely similar to the plot of Godzilla. 4. Gorgo is also very original in featuring a parent and baby monster, which Godzilla does not. 5. The human characters in Gorgo have no similarities to those found in Godzilla. 6. The photography in both movies is vastly different in tone, color, and atmosphere. 7. The miniature sets and destruction scenes in Gorgo are far more detailed and realistic than Godzilla. 8. The moral message of Gorgo is similar, yet quite different than that of Godzilla. 9. In the end, Gorgo wins, while Godzilla is defeated. So...Basically, the only real similarity is that both films show a giant monster destroying a city, but then again so do many other monster movies.
@@step3892 Thanks for watching bud!! Thank you for the great compliment as well! Big fan of this movie ever since the first time I saw it. For Britain not really being known for doing giant monster flicks, they certainly knocked it out of the park with this one.
be gone, Satan
@@ak47vr18 Nice try, but nah man.
Why u hated on all monsters attack 😤😭😰
@@GhostGodzillaEditz Just not a fan of it. Far too child oriented for me.
Except for the return to the more child friendly formula, this is one of the best Gamera movies. Gaos is an interesting Kaiju design. The plot moves fairly fast and is fairly action packed. Gaos does actually reappear in a later film, Gamera vs Guirion. It's interesting to see the strength difference in Guirion and Gaos
Wholesome you still upload videos
Thank you! Still enjoy doing the videos. Kinda hard to believe I’ve been doing this for 10 years!

just to make sure, these come with (japanese audio with enlgish subtitles) as well as an english dub?
Yes sir! All of the Sony blu-rays comes with the English dub and original Japanese audio w/ English subtitles
@@TokuCentral_Official thanks!
I prefer the Mystery Science Theater 3000 version.
❤ ❤ ❤
cool
Happy anniversary to one of the best godzilla films!
I still can’t get over the fact that those warships were entirely CGI (with the exception of that small bit of the boat deck) that really surprised me watching the making of reel
Absolutely! The success that this movie has been is a testament to the quality of what the entire cast and crew of Minus One put forth!
@@TokuCentral_Official They put in the work, and it shows 100%! 😎 I need that Blu Ray NOOOOOOOOOWWWWW!!! 😅 ROTFL
@@jeremywoodfin2885 For sure! I hope they include the Minus Color version of the film at the very least
@@TokuCentral_Official They've got some absolutely wicked looking box sets that include both versions set for release in Japan, hopefully it will be released everywhere soon! 😓
@@jeremywoodfin2885 Agreed! I'm honestly tempted to snatch up the Japan blu-ray set. Looks absolutely wicked!
今あらためて見ると、チャチイですが、ガメラとギャオスのプラモデル買いましたよ、、映画のほうは、子ど向けとはいえ、だいぶ手を抜いていますね、、
It would be awesome if they ever made a cgi nature documentary of them eating, mating, taking care of their young instead of fighting each other all the time.
Comment
This "black and white" version was phenomenal to watch! It was also the 4th time to see this film. It reminded me of when I was a kid, over 50 years ago, and seeing the Godzilla films on TV.
Definitely had a feel similar to that of the original Gojira. Comparing this and the color version, they definitely feel like two totally different movies
I used to have them all on DVD
The Arrow blu-ray boxset was definitely worth the upgrade. Remasters were done extremely well!
@@TokuCentral_OfficialI just started collecting Arrow Video Blu rays. They are amazingly well made, lots of special features and the video/sound quality is excellent. I own 33 different Godzilla movies, 6 different King Kong movies, original Mothra and remake Mothra I and Mothra II. I had never seen Gamera but I got the full Gamera movies set from Arrow. After watching the first 4, already hooked. Great movies!!
These Monsters movies I have grown up with I still watch It to this day.
I think there great
Is the dvd dubbed in English?
Yes. The sources are split from the anniversary VHS and bootlegs circulated by fans
เป็นกาเมร่า กับ กายาออส ที่ยอดเยี่ยม
Aside from Cate, May, and Ken. I thought the show was pretty good. It's interesting to see the backstory of Monarch. Godzilla was cool, too. Didn't like the main trio. Thought they were too whiny. May and Cate, in particular, they just treated everyone like assholes. Liked the other characters, though.
I thought it was neat to see Godzilla before the Castle Bravo explosion, especially since we only saw snippets of him in the beginning of G 2014. I will agree on May and Cate. Reminded me a bit of Aaron Johnson's role in 2014.
I hated May. Poorly written and the actress really is bad at acting. The small amount of Godzilla was really good at least.
Wasn't the biggest fan of May myself. Obviously Randa, Keiko and Shaw were the highlights but I didn't necessarily mind Kentaro or Cate. I do wish we had gotten more Goji but the moments we did get were memorable and he looked damn good to say the least
Godzilla-palooza the marathon All my favorite Godzilla movies I like Godzilla 2000 It going to be another godzilla on the 2024 Godzilla x kong the new empire Have you watch the first movie On December 2023 godzilla minus one?
I have. Saw it opening weekend. Phenomenal movie!
Saw it again for the second time today and honestly yeah, it really IS the best godzilla film we've gotten in years. I dare to say it beats shin for me by a mile lol.
I liked Shin, don’t get me wrong, but the pacing and approach to the big G in this film is far superior. Seriously hoping they consider doing a sequel.
Saw G-1 in Hiroshima November 7th it is the best Godzilla movie ever made ....to bad the US just ruins the Godzilla every time they touch it!!! Take the new 2024 Godzilla with King kong BS.....Japan make a masterpiece and the US responds with absolute GARBAGE
Personally I don’t have a problem with what Legendary does with the Monsterverse. It’s a different take on the character. I’ll always prefer Toho’s portrayal of Godzilla but the Monsterverse has managed to finally portray Godzilla in a quality style
I'm getting this for Christmas and I'm so excited because I've been wanting this since I was 6🔥🎉
Awesome for you bud! It's a great figure. Super glad I added it to my collection!
Geile zeit
I need to watch gamera sometime the special effects are hooking me in
For Daiei being a “cheaper Toho” some of their effects are absolutely top-notch quality, especially when you get into the Heisei era
@@TokuCentral_Official hmmm Ill look into
I’m new but glad you’re back and continuing the series😎😎
Glad to have you on board man!
@@TokuCentral_Official yeah! when's the latest video dropping?

It does! You get one English audio mix and 2 for the Japanese audio track
Thanks! We're thrilled to bring the Big G back with Exhumed Films. Gonna be a great weekend!
I’ll be there Friday for sure! Been looking forward to this for a while!
I read the Gammera interview in Monster Magazine in the early-mid 70s. I think I still have it. 🐢
I am 53 years old. Since my 5 I have enjoying this fantastic caracter along Ultra 7. THe best 3 of all ultra family: UltraMan Jack (returns) 1971, UltraMan 1966 and UltraSeven 1967. Thanks for all the guys from TSUBURAYA Co.
Hyped for this marathon! Also good luck covering super monster... That's gonna be a chore to watch lol
Yea not looking forward to that one lol Don’t know why it took me so long to get around to reviewing this series but hey, here we are.
@@TokuCentral_Official perfect timing just to get to rebirth as well
@@daikaijuguy5382 absolutely!
I haven't seen it but I will now. Ultraman holds up and is only made better with the graphic updates. I still get chills.
I wish either Toho or Legendary would commit to a full on reboot of Rodan. I mean a full trilogy similar to the "Rebirth of Mothra" series.
I'd be perfectly fine with that honestly! Love the tone of the classic film but I'd be interested to see what they'd do with a new story
Nah, the Bandai America MG is pretty on-point to how Godzilla and MechaGodzilla scaled in 1974. They were both 50 meters in the movie, and there are even plenty of shots that show G and MG standing at equal height. It was in _Terror of MechaGodzilla_ where the MG suit was beefed up in size to be taller than Godzilla, even tho, again, canonically, MechaGodzilla 2 is still 50 meters in height. Good review nonetheless, tho.
Looking at the ending, once Godzilla turns into a magnet, MG still seems taller than him. Possible that Godzilla was hunched over a bit but it appears that when he tries to take off, they’re standing on the same level ground
I can't wait to see it, but now I have to wait until June 23, 2023. Then it will available to buy. So disappointed that I missed it. But I can not wait.
Definitely worth the watch!
This movie was a fantastic experience, still like godzilla against mechagodzilla more but I enjoy this one on it's own too. Hopefully they celebrate the 20th anniversary of final wars next year
It’s looking entirely likely. I’d be surprised if they did it before then, especially since next year is the 70th for the franchise.
is it only the 22nd or is it other days?
It was only the 22nd
