This was my senior year show. I started at Dunbar in 2000 as a freshman. We were eliminated from the state finals for the first time in school history on the WKU field that year only to come back four years later to win the whole thing on the exact same field for the very first time in school history. This was a special one and is something I will always remember.
This will forever be my favorite show! Watched it as an 8th grader for another county (family member played for Dunbar) and it’s now embedded in memory
Very common in this state during that time period. Either BOA grand nationals shows from prior years, or drum corps shows. The 3A champion came from another Texas band as well (Russell County- Exodus, bought from LD Bell).
Epicness54 we know this. What's your point? Ryle was awesome. PLD still had a great show, alumni are very proud. Tell me, what program are you with? Oh wait, I see Lafayette. Really classy comment there, pointing out the obvious.
Seeing this show for the first time at 8th grade band night was the reason I chose to do PLD Marching band...It still blows me away! Gives me chills! Ignites a fiery passion for this craft in me...over 10 years later...wow! love it! #ProudPLDAlumni
As a current Lafayette member, it's clear as to why they won and the second highest scoring show in all of KMEA. Great job guys! Well done, no excuses, only perfection
@Jimtwigg1 With comments such as "are band did this" and "u guy r going" I'm surprised you can actually follow the drum majors in the first place. Amazing.
lol. I saw ya'll this year perform at the Maurry State competition. How about our show this year!?!?! it was even better than celestial bodies.. Our NINJA one, kicked ass. literally.
You're a drummer now? When that exposed those hertas could be blown so easily, but they nailed it. There's no need for that stuff like that. What, were those 5 stroke rolls in Allure about a minute in much harder?
Dixie and MC don't "battle" for anything. Their dirty rolls and hertas impress the commoners like yourself, but the real percussionists don't consider these lines in the elite at all. Any drumline can play a bunch of notes, it takes real talent to play it clean. PLD plays notes as well, but it's written well so that it actually fits the music and doesn't overpower the band. Seriously, judging a line based on how "exciting" they are just shows how immature you really are in this regard.
I have the MP3 of this and the solo is perfectly clean. You can have your own opinion, but don't judge it off crappy youtube quality. Sorry that we're not Dixie Heights or Madison Central, who play a billion notes that sound like crap, but PLD's line always delivers by state in terms of cleanliness. I would highlight on the hypocrisy of that statement based the school you're from, but I'll take the higher road.
Hey! Ya'll were really good! Ya'lls band is huge... xD My school's band did Celestial Bodies too. They won 2nd place at Showcase. But as usual, Lafayette just HAD to win... >.> Whatever, everyone thinks we should have gotten first place anyways. :P
The point still stands, you don't us posting links to these videos and Tradition and Sheba because they were uploaded, because we know you guys couldn't care less about them and see it as gloating.
Nope, I've admitted a thousand times so far that American Times was a much better show and fully deserved to win. I just find it funny that you're calling someone jealous when you post the one video that LHS has won with in the last 5 years on the 3 PLD state championship videos.
First of all...most dunbar people that I knew HATED I-Motion. Secondly, the people old enough to march those years either liked Anime or Celestial Bodies. Finally, if the dance moves in our shows were so crappy then why did other bands INCLUDING Lafayette start doing them in shows. k thanks
Would love if someone posted a better quality version of this show along with some of the other older shows not available anymore
Our neighboring school WCHS played this the year before at Grand Nats our senior year. We finished 10th & 11th respectively.

Jeff hood is the greatest director in Kentucky
Agreed
@@taylorhendrichs3070 He was also my director at GRC from 87-91
Same. I marched from 87 through 90
91
The sound quality on this recording is insane
At 3:33 the show kinda reminds me of PLD’s recent show called KODO
I’m with the PLD band and we only had 60 musicians for our marching band show in 2019 and we still made state finals
I still don't know any of the songs that these dudes are playing.
The churchill band did this the year before at grand nats
GradientEye Yes, where do you think PLD bought the arrangement? Hint: It's from the same composer.

2017- PLD misses on finals for the first time since 2000.

>He assumes I'm from Lafayette
I’m in PLD this year and I have to say this is by far my favorite performance besides facade
Wayyyyy better sounding and cleaner drill than us (Haltom 2004) haha #Kudos

Video quits at 0:37 ...any way you could upload again?

What songs are they playing? I don't even recognize them
I hope no one ever forgets about the epic double flizz. Good times.

hehe nice reference to "marimba spiritual" in the "taiko" drum feature
My guard instructor marched that show!!!!! It was her senior year!
@Jimtwigg1 Faster doesn't always mean better :P
are band did this ... u guy r going way to slow it's mark at like 170
For this show, it was Mark Higganbothem, but they are currently using Aaron Guirdy, and I think they could really use a new one if you ask me...
Amazing!
hahaha
no they did it in 04. this band bought their show from haltom a year later
Best snareline Dunbar's ever had, no doubt.
This show was epic.
yay H-town did celestial bodies this summer wooo
I love this! My band is doing this show too! We just did our first preformance of Beyond at our first game!
what about mystic rhythms? the bad ass tenor solos
lol. I saw ya'll this year perform at the Maurry State competition. How about our show this year!?!?! it was even better than celestial bodies.. Our NINJA one, kicked ass. literally.
what school do you go to???

Cleanest snare line in PLD history maybe, 1:37 is jizz in my pants worthy. The recordings sucks ass though, it makes it sound fuzzy.
GRC alum here. This is still my fav PLD show from when I was student.
I saw them live at the Murray Regionals, and at state semis and finals.
Oh yeah, and if you're interested watching my school's band, just search under "Fontainebleau Showcase 2008"

I looove PLD! :D
Who cares, seriously. It's working. Just quit commenting on the videos, it just starts stupid arguments.
The point still stands, you don't us posting links to these videos and Tradition and Sheba because they were uploaded, because we know you guys couldn't care less about them and see it as gloating.
You posted Celestial Suite on the other Lafayette videos. Just stop, it's blatantly obvious and you're backtracking is just making it worse.

Uh, cool?

So is there a video of the indy performance? I can't find one anywhere.
The same thing happens on your videos. But is there anything more trivial than a youtube thumbs up/thumbs down option? I mean, c'mon now.
