Very informative review. Is not having a zipper wind flap on the Arc’teryx Cerium a deal breaker? I would think so when wearing the jacket as an outer layer.
Thanks! I have only worn it as an outer layer and I have not noticed the wind getting through the zipper. At the point where wind may get through, you'd probably want to put a shell over it.
Thanks for the feedback. I am trying to find the Cerium jacket (no hood) in size L, color black. Arc’teryx is out of stock. Quick google search, I may have found a few reputable regional online stores that have it in stock. REI is supposed to get stock middle of January.
The arcteryx outlets usually have some in stock, but not in great colors. They have an outlet section on their website too, try that also.
Only colors in stock are Stratus and Eden (yuck!). Black and Black Sapphire are out of stock. I’ll check out the outlet section of their website.
There are actually two versions of the monitor down on the site, the older version and the revised version - the revised version does have down fill running all the way to the bottom, and a double zip But they got rid of the goretex pro outer layer, despite the insulation reaching to the bottom it has the same amount of down (so its more distributed and thus less warm) and it has a more relaxed fit. The zipper is also exposed. I think it feels cheap overall, I'm not a fan
Yep, the version you're talking about is the 2024 version which I didn't want. A double zipper would be nice though.
The pockets are also much nice from previous version
Dude i am thinking to get this as well Is this super loose fit. I am in between L to XL thinking to get L Whats your suggestion
Thanks for watching! I'd say if you normally buy arcteryx, get your normal size. It also depends on how fitted you want it to look. I'd say try it on in a store if you're near a store or size down for a fitted look or size up if you want the ability to wear a base layer and sweater under the jacket. I personally don't think I need to wear anything other than a base layer, but that's my preference. Hope this helps you decide.
@FinancialFitness8 thanks, the nearest Arcteryx store is like 150 miles I am in Upstate NY. But thanks for your guidance i ll figure out.
@@relaxationchannel9458 They have a new revised version, where the down goes all the way down, the new version is fits a lot bigger, you need to size down if you choose the new version
Nice video man!
Thanks for watching! Were you considering buying 1?

I love Canada goose, but I would never buy one of their signature parkas. They are overpriced and show wear and tear within the first season of wear. Definitely not durable. I’ve had luck with their down hoodies made with more durable materials that don’t fade and are more wind/water resistant. They also have some pretty tough shell jackets that are great for layering. I wear one of their down hoodies under a heavy shell and I’m very warm while ice fishing. Both my down hoodie and shell are machine washable too. I also can add/subtract a layer when getting too hot/cold. I can definitely understand people choosing Arc’teryx over Canada Goose.
Great insight! Thanks for watching too. I'll take a closer look at the lighter pieces next time I'm close to a store, but definitely agree with you on the parkas not being very durable. Happy holidays!
Great video! Very informative. I wear a Hybridge Base Jacket, which is a down hoodie made with cordura fabric that is super durable but lightweight. Then over that I wear a Nanaimo Jacket that is fully waterproof and windproof. Both are machine washable and make a very durable combination! Check them out next time you’re near a store!
So is 850 goose down series good?
Yes, generally speaking. If it has 850 fill and has decent volume of down then it should be pretty warm.
@ thanks!
This is what the pic says. Arc'teryx Cerium Hoody, Men’s Down Jacket, Redesigned. Insulation: 850 fill European white goose down RDS down Lining: Arato 20 100% Nylon 60% bio-derived material FC0 DWR Insulation: Coreloft 100 (100 g/m) and 80 (80 g/m) 80% recycled polyester Arato 15 100% recycled dope dye nylon Origin of fabric: GERMANY. Also don’t understand why it says redesign. There was one for 400 but this one is 500$. “Redesigned”
Usually they will update small things like the zippers or the stormhood.

Is the wireless still working after 2 yrs?
Yes, it still works well. I just find the charging case to be really big. It does make it inconvenient a little bit to carry around daily.
What is the size in liters when it is expanded?
42L
I still don't understand this "Before and After" segment of the rule. The "After" I can understand, but the "Before" is unclear.
Hi Jay, I have 2 other wash sale videos that have some examples of "before". But the "before" examples apply if you currently own multiple bunches of shares. So as a random example, if you own a stock and you bought it twice, let's say 100 shares at $20 and 100 at $18 and you bought them 10 days apart from each other. If the current price went down to $15 and you wanted to sell 1 of the 100 shares, there would be 2 options if you didn't want to cause a wash sale. First option would be to sell all the shares that way you take the loss all at once on the 200 shares, the second option is wait 30 days from the most recent purchase date to be able to sell either of the 100 shares to be able to realize the loss without a wash sale (assuming you don't buy the same stock again for another 30 days). Does that make sense? Feel free to come up with your own example if you're still not sure. Hope you liked and subscribed.
Bait and switched cars? From a 488 Pista to a glorified Audi the F8? I would have demanded my money back. For people who don't know super cars I guess extra 2 laps is okay like buying a BMW and getting a Oldsmobile instead.
I probably could have canceled driving the Ferrari, but I already made the trip there for the experience.

Awesome! Glad you found my review helpful. Let everyone know what you think of it after you use it on a couple trips or once you start packing for your next trip.
I think Patagonia has a down jacket like the one you got that is also windproof, eliminating the need for the two layering method. Or Just get the Therme by Arc’teryx.
Thank you for your video. It really helps my confidence in avoiding wash sales going forward. However, back on June 20, I had averaging down by buying several batches of an ETF throughout the day. Within 30 days, I decided to sell one batch at a loss in order to buy something else, thinking I had previously made enough profit in this account to offset the loss on this trade. Unfortunately, this triggered a wash sale on my second batch and the loss on this batch was disallowed. Anyway, I'm thinking of taking a loss if necessary by the end of the year to offset my capital gain but I just want to make sure there will not be a nightmarish domino effect of wash sales on the other batches bought on that same day. The question: If I sold everything now and not buy again for at least 30 days, would I be able to get rid of the wash sale completely and would I be able to use the full amount of the loss to offset the YTD capital gain in this account? Thank you in advance for your answer. Bests.
Hi, thanks for watching! Based on your example, if you want to sell anymore shares at a loss, either you'll have to wait 30 days after you sell each batch to record the losses or you can sell them all at once so you don’t have to wait in between to record the loss on all shares. Hope that helps, please like and subscribe if you haven’t already.
@@FinancialFitness8 thank you. Already liked and subscribed after the first video. Please keep up the good work. Your video was the best on the subject, on RUclips or on Google. Thanks again.
@@FinancialFitness8 Just to confirm my understanding: If I sold all shares that were acquired in the same day and not purchase again, I should be able to claim all the realized loss ( including the previously disallowed loss) to offset my realized gains in that same account? Thanks again.
That's correct since you would no longer own that stock, but you also would need to not repurchase that same stock for at least 30 days.
still not clear if i can avoid a loss sale deduction if I sell only the shares involved in the wash sale or if I have to sell my entire position even when my position is greater than the loss sales shares.
It depends on if you held the most recently purchased shares for at least 30 days. If you held the most recent shares for at least 30 days then you could sell the ones impacted by the wash sale at a loss and it would not be disallowed. For more clarification, I talked about this in my other 2 wash sale videos too. ruclips.net/video/BBRg5cP_wPg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/fl2vRtUkyoA/видео.html
@@FinancialFitness8 very impressive that you responded thanks. I did watch the other video but it seemed like you talked about exiting the "position" but I could be mistaken. So if I understand correctly, I have 1400 shares of stock x. 700 of those shares are a wash sale (per Fidelity). I have had them (the 700 shares involved in wash sale) for over 90 days. I plan to sell all of those specific 700 shares before year end. I can then negate the wash sale disallowance and take the full loss on those shares once sold by adding back the wash sale amount to the purchase basis and then calculate the loss (essentially negating the wash sale loss restriction), even if I keep the other 700 shares (not considered wash sale (per Fidelity). Appreciate your knowledge and response. I could not find anyone else on the web who knew about how to unwind a wash sale. Everyone seems to want to talk about what a wash sale is.
No problem! That's why I made this video series since no one talks about what you can do once you have a wash sale. So the scenario you explained, if the wash sale adjusted 700 shares have been held for over 90 days and then the other existing shares were also held at least 30 days either before or after the ones with the wash sale adjustment (whichever was most recent), then you could theoretically sell them at any time and take the loss. When giving examples of the trade, purchase/sell dates are important so include them in the future. But from what you said, it's likely you can sell them at any point to record the loss for tax purposes without it impacting the other 700 shares you also hold.
What happens if you average down on a position with a wash sale? Can it lower the average stock price and lower the cost basis overall? Is it a good idea to average down on a position with a wash sale? Thank you. New subscriber here.
Hi, thanks for watching and subscribing. I'm not sure I quite understand the scenario you're talking about here. So if you have a position with a wash sale already adjusting the cost basis higher, and then you buy more shares at a lower price, it doesn't change the position with the wash sale. It actually hurts you in a way because if you decide to sell the position with the wash sale, but you already averaged down, if you sold at a loss below the adjusted cost basis, you would actually create another wash sale if it was within 30 days of you buying the additional shares.
If a down parka requires dry cleaning it is not the fault of the down. It is more likely that the interfacings are the problem.
I would choose a cheaper waterproof outer jacket made from a quiet fabric. Noisy fabric is a drag. Gortex is not the best choice for "waterproof".
A "heavy" down parka is an oxymoron.
Catching the fabric or wind guard is not a zipper problem. It is a sewing problem. The fabric should have enough stitching to make it lie flat in proximity to the zipper.
If i sell all the shares above the wash sale adjusted cost basis, would I still have to wait 30 days if i wanted to buy that same stock back?
Hi Jeremy, if you sell above the wash sale adjusted cost basis then you should be at a gain even if it's small. So IF you sold at a gain, then no you wouldn't need to wait 30 days to repurchase the same stock again.
This is the most fucked up rule ive ever seen in my life.
Hello, what will happen if I sell a wash sale stock for a loss?
Hi, I talked about this in my wash sales videos. If you sold a stock with a wash sale for a loss, to realize the loss, you cannot buy that same stock again for at least 30 days and you must not be holding other positions in the same stock. Please like, subscribe and check out my other video on wash sales. ruclips.net/video/BBRg5cP_wPg/видео.html
Most of the items at the Tumi Outlet stores are made for the Outlet. The quality is not the same. You get what you pay for in general. But, at the end of the day is how you take care of your Tumi pieces to get the best lifespan on your investment.
Hmm, I was just in a Tumi outlet in California two days ago. I was told the materials are the exact same as the retail stores. Just the features are different as well as the model names. Outlet carries the same exact 5 year warranty as the retail store. But if your buying for warranty then you’d by buying a Briggs.
So far, my outlet purchases have been legit same quality and build. Bought an Alpha Bravo Intl Carry On for my wife for a similar 500 - 600 USD price at Sawgrass Mills mall in FL. In fact, some of the inventory is the same as the regular store. I’ve been to both to verify. Some colors or designs that are off season / retired are placed at the outlet.
Tumi does indeed make DIFFERENT products for their outlets, same as Nordstrom. They say the "materials are the same" but they lack some of the quality details. Wheels for example might not be equivalent on some product. The whole "outlet" model has been ruined since everyone is now making different products for their outlets.
I notice outlet stores have OLD models and look worn out sometimes, not same condition as those in the retail.
Nice!

woah which outlet did you buy this at?
In Vegas, I believe it was the premium outlet mall.
great video‼️
This review was very helpful, thank you
Great video's. Still a little confused even after all the comments. I get the wash sale rule but, say I purchased 100 shares of abc 6 months ago for $10 (lot A) , the stock drops to $5. I decide to purchase another hundred shares today for $5 a share of the same abc stock (lot b). A week goes by and the stock rises to $8 and I sell (lot b). Still holding lot A, no loss occurred correct? So no wash sale? Just couldn't find the right answer when selling a stock lot at a gain without losses while holding the same stock that could be a potential loss. Any clarity would be much appreciated.
Hi Ron, thanks so much for watching. In the scenario you mentioned, there would not be a wash sale for selling lot B at a profit while still holding lot A. Thanks for giving a clear example with your question. Hope this helps! Please like and subscribe for more content.
What if i average down my stock and sell it for profit is it considered a loss or wash sale loss! I buy 100 shares for 300 and buy another 100 shares for 100 my average price will be 150 a share and i sell all of them for 160 per share do i lose or gain?
Hi Mohammad, thanks for watching. I review an example similar to this in 1 of my other wash sale videos so please check those out also. Like and subscribe for more content. ruclips.net/video/JpQWtt0_6aU/видео.html ruclips.net/video/fl2vRtUkyoA/видео.html
I bought nvidia and sold at a lost. Then bought it back 1 week later where they added my lost to my cost basis and then sold again about a week after. I am now waiting 30 days. After those 30 days passed (in june 1st) if i buy nvidia again will they still add the lost to my cost basis or not anymore? What if I make sure to sell nvidia by November this year. Will I be able to claim that lost at the of the year?
Hi Arturo, thanks for watching! Based on your question, after selling the most recent shares at a loss with the wash sale, there should not be a wash sale afterwards on the next trade assuming it's after June 1st. Hope this helps. Please, like and subscribe for more content in the future.

Most people only have a jacket from the car to the house but for long term outdoor activities I would recommend Eddie Bauer because you can get them for 35% off on average and goes against Canada goose 🪿 for less money.
I had held 1441 shares of TSLA stock for a number of years. In March of 2024 the stock was tanking so I sold taking a 146,000 loss. Then a few days later repurchased 500 shares then sold those shares 2 days later for a small profit of 2500.00. I then repurchased 1450 shares on the same day I sold the 500 but at a slightly higher price then when I initially sold the 1441 shares. This helped increase my total shares from 1441 to 1450 shares. If I now hold the 1450 shares into 2025 what will be the outcome of that? You present excellent info. Maybe you could add some clarity to this scenario. Appreciate your help. Thank you in advance.
Hi Tao, thanks so much for watching. Happy to try and give you some clarity on your question, but you're missing all of the cost basis information that is extremely relevant for any wash sales questions. But just from what you mentioned so far, it sounds like you'd have a pretty big wash sale starting from when you bought back the 500 shares since that would have adjusted the cost basis by 146k.
@@FinancialFitness8 My current cost basis is $390,789.92

Ok, that's not the breakdown I'd need to be able to try and figure out what could have happened, but essentially it sounds like the wash sale would have kept rolling as you were buying and selling trying to make the quick profits.
@@FinancialFitness8 Ok thank you ... I think I figured this out. If I sell my open position on Dec. 30 then I will be able to take the loss on my 2024 tax return. Repurchase on Feb 1st. 2025. Thanks again for your help.

Thank you for sharing this video. I bought 100 shares of XYZ company with $500 per share on February 12, 2024; and sold these 100 shares with $400 per share on February 16, 2024. Totally, there is $10000 loss. Is this $10000 loss wash sale loss? And this $10000 loss can not be used to offset capital gains?
Hi, thanks for watching. Based on your example, did you execute another trade after Feb 16 and if so, when? If there was not another trade within 30 days, there wouldn't be a wash sale.
@@FinancialFitness8 Thank you for the reply. I did not execute another trade after Feb 16. Actually, I bought the call options at different time periods within one day, and then sold/closed these call options on two separate dates. On the call option purchase date, I also bought 13 shares of the same company. The detailed trading record can be found through this link: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MweDWJrR9SqCwxWP5xrWvhyilAmWXrTI/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=117169587240730690122&rtpof=true&sd=true. Could you help to take a look at these trading losses to see whether these losses are deductible or not (if these are wash sale losses which can not be used to offset capital gain)?

@@FinancialFitness8I did not execute another trader after Feb 16. What about this scenario: bought several call options at different times within one day; later, sold/closed these options on two different dates with trading losses (these two close date both are within 30 days from the purchase date). After that, no new trade is executed. Are these trading losses deductible to offset capital gains?
