Brutalism is an architectural style that emerged during the 1950s in the United Kingdom before spreading to other places of the world including São Paulo.
Brutalism focused on developing functional buildings with no ornamentation. Its distinctive architectural language is characterised by exposed raw concrete surfaces, heavy geometric forms, small windows with a minimum amount of solar exposure, rough and unfinished surfaces..
