Having just been on a live looping course with Steve Bingham I wanted to get a set up that I can use at home and potentially for live events. So I need to be able to play loudly and to be totally moveable (as in walk around a town, for hours, not just a few feet) so all battery operated high powered amps like the fender cube are no good for me I have to play against 2 accordions and percussion (at least) and be heard so this is what I'm working on though I've had a few troubles with strings and pegs on old violins! arghhh! long story...

My new (second hand German) mandolin - arrived this morning so wanted to give it a go and record something so this is what I did. Pretty pleased with the instrument so far. more soon! Backing / accompaniment written / arrangement by myself.

I recorded these pieces as my students are learning them and there are very few recordings available of them ( in these versions / arrangements anyway ) The idea is that students can hear the tunes so they know how they go to help with learning and getting the correct rhythm, pitch and style. They are deliberately under speed (Recorded in one quick take at home) The pieces are all around grade ...

thank you :-) when I recorded that I had been learning mandolin for .... 2 days! To be honest, I had a mandolin I bought a few years ago but it was unplayable, so apart from the odd attempt at playing an unplayable instrument, I've never played one. I am a violinist though .. (mandolins are tuned same as violin) so its not hard to switch... I saw this one on ebay and treated myself. so yes, literally 2 days... :-)

Hi Ant, Its Songbay, Happy new Year! Really like this its very very clever. can you use all the same images and opening theme and sounds, etc and turn it into a less 'experimental' and more commercial dance track, with a sort of 'Where are you now?'chant over the top? Gary x
