    What is the purpose of the band

      great question! it's an external cue to not lift the back up off the ground. this allows you to isolate the core more. if you arch your back, the band will release and pop out. so you have to press you back down into the band to engage your core

    They say that letting the weight, in this cause the body, come down slower is more beneficial than the sharp upswing. More time and muscles in control, if that makes sense
