Excellent video and instructions! BE CAREFUL!!!! When I cleaned my drum, the underneath was razor sharp. Cut two fingers to the bone and had to go to the emergency room. I recommend handling the drum with a good pair of leather gloves. Disappointed with Samsung but my guess is it's the Fabric Softener combined with the HE or low water usage. I have Samsung WA52M. A good cleaning and it looks and smells like new. Thanks.

Thanks Dave! You gave me the motivation and knowledge to get mine done today. The scrubbing wasn’t easy and getting that wash plate clean is near impossible. I soaked it and gave it a rigorous bath. There is still soap scum inside those plastic grooves. Nevertheless, it’s 90% clean and still had a little soap scum after the self clean, but minimal after the first load of laundry. Shame on Samsung for this product. We shouldn’t have to deep clean this beast every 1-2 years. Thanks again brother and thanks for your service!

Thank you soooooo very much! My son just bought a used set for me from a friend (the agitator plate on my whirlpool had a fight with a sledgehammer because it would NOT come off, LOL). I know not everyome cleans like I do, so I was prepared for muck and yuck. But I wasn't prepared for the muck and yuck after 10 wash cycles, and after removing the agitator plate (quite easily I must say), and cleaning that, so I came to youtube. You sir, just saved my sanity! I've watched so many videos tonight, and yours is the only one that shows from start to finish! I. CAN. DO. THIS! *my brother was a self made appliance repairman for years. Ive never called a repairman my whole adult life, and I'm 56. I would call him on the phone (I'm in AZ he was in IL) and he'd literally take his time and walk me through step by step of "how to". He passed in 2017 and then I had to find help on youtube. I've fixed my dryer, but that whirlpool washer plate was STUCK and I gave up and had my son get out the sledgehammer, haha. Anyway, your video is so very appreciated! I also appreciate that you didn't edit out the parts of video where you questioned yourself: that helps the rest of us when we get worried. I'm glad your human! I'll have my son get this beast outaide and ill tear it apart tomorrow. I'll come back and let you know how it goes!

Great video. Once you clean everything part of the problem is the agitator, the round disc at the bottom of the drum. Samsung made the agitator out of plastic cover with aluminum, the two pieces won't come apart and it collects water, therefore black mold builds up in between and can't be cleaned. If you have an air compressor you can use it to blow air through the holes from plastic side, it is better if you let it soak but you can only blow out whatever is around the holes. This is a screw-up from Samsung. This part should be replaced free 6 charged since it can't be serviced or cleaned.

Excellent and very helpful video. One issue I've come across is when I was cleaning the agitator I can see there is the grimy gunk between the plastic and the metal of the agitator and I don't see any way separate the parts to clean between them. I tried spraying water through the holes a bit and some pieces came out but not much. Any suggestions?
