Florida Research Administration Conference FRAC
Добавлен 21 янв 2021
The Florida Research Administration Conference (FRAC) began in 2015 at UCF in response to a training budget cut. Rather than sending a few staff to conferences, we organized a local conference at cost ($100/pp) and invited sister institutions. Outstanding speakers volunteered. By popular demand, FRAC became an annual conference. Facing yet a second hurdle of COVID in 2021, FRAC went virtual for the first time free of charge via zoom. FRAC served over 1,000 registered participants that year. In 2022, we had the 2nd virtual, and 8th annual FRAC with 1900+ participants from 300+ institutions worldwide. The VFRAC sessions populate this channel. Please feel free to incorporate these sessions into your training programs, but be sure to give appropriate attribution to our excellent volunteer speakers.
To be notified of future FRAC offerings, please contact FRAC@UCF.edu to be added to the contact list. We do NOT share participant information.

Research Development Mythbusting
Although relatively “new” in the Research Administration world, Research Development (RD) has been around in varying forms and functions for much longer. Much of what “it” is depends on the institution size, needs, and experiences within an organization and the faculty. In this session, you will be provided information on what RD is, how it is different from pre-award functions (and the same too) and information on best practices from starting an office from scratch to evolving an office into something more.

No matter how busy he is, or what he has going on in his life, he has volunteered every year to help make the FRAC a success. Thank you so much for this session AND for all you have done over the years for UCF and the broader research admin community through your participation in NCURA, SRAI, FDP and COGR. Thank you!!
These speakers were able to break down some truly complex information related to cyber requirements for DOD research. Thank you for breaking it down into manageable, bite-sized pieces!

Mary D and Felecia S provide excellent examples and advice on the many aspects of post-award that can be affected by unanticipated or self-induced change.
Mary Stanley shares her knowledge and passion in the intricate details of asset construction (building equipment) in a way that is easy to understand and touches the many points to consider when pieces and parts are pulled together to create an asset that needs special treatment on sponsored awards.
Both parts 1 and 2 are very helpful in breaking down the many aspects to be considered to appropriately manage a subaward to a sponsored research award!
I always enjoy this knowledgeable duo. Thank you for your presentations at SRAI and NCURA, and thank you for bringing this two-part session to FRAC on this very involved topic!
