That's where Qualcomm came from.....😊
Motorola always the best
@@SubtleReed thank you for watching

Just got the President Randy 2 looking for that antenna I have the other one but looking for the black one and adapter what is the hight of it like 42 inches good info video Ty RM260
If you check the description of my video, there is a Amazon link to the antenna.
Yes it's 42 inches.
Wow …I had no idea DC current would go so far on so little. Thx for the info
Voltage, not current
That’s pretty dang cool… how long of a wire run could you use?
@slapoutindixie7537 I've only tested it up to a few hundred feet. I don't see any reason why you couldn't get a mile. If it didn't work, just add another 9 volt battery.
You mean to say that QUADS existed during the Jurassic era? Had me going
“Radio Man/boys” are brutal in comments. They make great trolls. Although, there are some great guys with Ham channels sharing info freely with great attitudes 👍. We take the good with the bad.
I live in Boston. And I have no idea of dd. Next time record him and play it on RUclips. I’ll tell you who it is
@sirmister4411 we'll i wasn't the station hearing him. Funny thing is this station claiming to hear him multiple times in different days. Isn't able to record him, or get his contact information. Therefore I think it's BS.
I know im wayy late but the whole thing by the fcc saying that its illegal to swear on a cb is bs. Heres what they have to do They have to find where you are, They have to prove it was you and they need to have video evidence of you cussing on a cb. lmaooo goodluck fcc
You talkin skip to UK or what??? Lol
@@307radio We can talk to Europe almost daily.
@@radioman2602 Nice, I got a Am 880 bearcat for Christmas so hopefully i can talk skip. Doubt i will but who knows.
@reaper13223 yeah they are solid radios. You can definitely shoot my skip on SSB. If you can find one.
@@radioman2602 Pretty sure its my antenna mount. It's bad, Tilted to the left a lil and pressed against glass. Fixing it tomorrow though, good chattin with ya good buddy
Thanks for the view and comment.😅
Everyone had Moonraker 4s or 6s up in the 80s and 90s I know a guy here in Missouri far as I know still has stacked 4s up has for years! Yes do the work on putting your antenna up right the first time and you won't have issues!
Thanks for the comments and watching my video!
I have talked on 10-11meters using an extension ladder, yes a ladder made of aluminum and talked from coast of NC to Alaska on 50 watts ssb. The damn thing was leaning on a tree! Yaesu 991a no amps no preamps just ladder line and coax and a couple of roach clips.. 73
I know a few guys here that have used extension ladders secured to a building as a temporary antenna LOL
was it worth it.
Yes absolutely, added a lot of enjoyment.
Why concern yourself with other’s opinions of your system setup…ignore them and let your antenna sing!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
I do the video was meant to be a little fun; I get a lot of kind support for my videos. The whole antenna thing is where I saw some negativity.
we have a smarmy moneybags dude around here who seems to think throwing money at my folded dipole that sits 80' up in a tree, 200' of 450ohm ladderline, and a 9:1 balun at the back window with a wiiiide swr spread will net me better results. problem is im cheap and LMR 600 is not. i still have lower feed loss than that though. if you grab more than 1000' of 450ohm from davis RF it comes out to like 48 cents a foot. including the balun which i bought, im about maybe $200 in on my vertical system here. and its the best one i've had yet. the only people who complain will also say in the next breath that they have an s8 noise level like thats everyone elses problem
I see what you're saying, the antenna is all about what works for you. You have to find what's best for your setup.
yes. if you're rural and have tall trees, or if theres more than 150' of feed between the antenna and shack, messing around with a folded dipole on 450 is a good idea. it was an experiment that went so right that it became my main vert antenna
If you had two ice storms and 60 mph winds, you got a great antenna!
Thank you! Thanks for the comments and watching my video.
I think your antenna is awesome
I know me too! Thanks for watching!
I've been running a 5 band 4 element, long boom Cubical Quad (ham) antenna for years. The quad design can be more susceptible to weather than Yagis, but the performance improvement more than makes up for the additional risk (I made DXCC in 30 days back in 2000). I don't get ice storms here, but I do get VERY high winds. It has held up well to 40+ mph. But, a tree branch did get stuck in the elements at one point. (Luckily, my tower cranks down and tilts so I can work on it myself) Since your antenna is single banded, that should help in high winds. It is also rotated 45 degrees in roll, which should help with ice loading on the wires. Your weakest link is likely the horizontal spreaders. But if they are beefy, they should be no more prone to ice damage than a Yagi. Good antenna choice. You might even find yourself a longer boom and add a couple more elements!
I do make sure to point the antenna into the prevailing winds when not in use. I do worry about trees. I got one that I need to lower my tower down. Its a big pine, we got lots of those up here in Maine.
I wish I had one like that. Mine is just okay, but not really up where it needs to be.
You gotta do what you can do and what you're comfortable with.
Your just bragging.
Quads can survive hurricanes and are 2nd to none
Yes and if it gets real crazy I'll lower the tower.
Yes and if it gets crazy I'll lower the tower.
Antenna reminds me of the Avanti Moonrakers. They where great back in the day. Wish they were still made.
I love my moonraker still working like new...
Yes, I thought about building one some day.
There are a few guys running them here in Maine.
What is wrong with it? I’d take it any day.
Not one thing at all and if I can hear them, I can talk to them.
BTW disregard criticism from ignorant radio monkeys. The ones that have to learn which side of a mic to talk in.
Yes, the radio monkeys, time to release the trunk monkey to take care of them.
Quad looks OK. How long is the feedline? Hard to tell but the tower seems to be quite a distance away. But the views from the phone are difficult to discern. I once took a new CB delta quad that cost me 60 bucks and retuned it for 10 meters, put it on a pole with a TV rotor and worked nice DX with a barefoot rig. Actual 10 meters, not the CB version in between no mans land.
Tower is about 120 from the house. Takes about 190 feet of coax and of coarse two runs one for horizontal and one for vertical.
LMAO!!!!! It works, who cares what the "EXPERTS" think....or do they?
I don't I was making a fun tongue and cheek video, the criticism is real, but I really don't care. I do what I do and enjoy.
You know the old story. The best antenna is the one you are using right now. Make do, experiment and create.
Yes, story as old as the mountains. LOL
The reason you don’t get more views could be potty mouth.
@JohnEasterling-e7b wow, your a sensitive cream cake.
Yes thanks for the view and comment.😊
Well bro there's a lot of nuts in this world and it's what you like so don't worry don't listen to other people's comments you're the number one
Thank you for watching my video.
Radioman loves the chicken band. CB is a POS.
I’m a ham and your antenna looks great. It’s all about experimenting. If you’re happy and it works then that’s all that matters.
Thanks, that's right I am having fun in my own little corner of the world.
that's is big antenna system.
Yeah, it's physically large, so assembly can be a challenge and moving it around. Fortunately, it's light.
Nice radio. antenna UDX-362 from tn waving to. you i just got my beam up few weeks ago on sirio sy27s4 it took me 5 months get setup mast bought all these pipe at lowes it's 22ft i been making contacts to Hawaii with it for last 6days here in tn.
Quads are great antennas especially in dry high altitude were the ends of beams produce corona. I take a quad over a beam any day.
I think quads are quiter, too, which helps RX a bit.
We NEVER have enough, as a matter of fact, at this moment while watching this, Iam making room for another rig, a BC-348 shortwave receiver! Then i have to engineer a long wire antenna stretching across four 40'f palm trees !😂🤠👍
Yes YES!
I've seen quads up for decades. Never had one. But those that used 'em loved 'em. I'd like to make a Grey Ghost Special. An end fired cophased Antron beam. Edit I guess it wouldn't be called cophased if it's an end fire😂. But haters are gonna hate. Thanks for the video. I'd like to see some pictures of all of the odd, wild, crazy old antenna designs. Been quite a few that looked really kewl. Probably talked like a wer shoe string, but they looked kewl.
Thank you for the comments and watching my video.
Nice and good Quads matey take no notice of the dumb dumbs.
Thank you
Awesome 🙂👍
Thanks for the visit
My dad was a radar engineer for Lockheed aircraft in the 50' 60's 70's and designed radar systems on the SR-71 with the inventor "Kelly Johnson" as well as many other War birds, also was an amateur radio operator , Dad built many cubicle quads and swore by them, Ill take a quad over a yagi any day.
My uncle worked on the 71, I bet he knew your dad.
Yes, they are quite too!
@@GoonyMclinux That's cool, most likely they did, my Father worked at Skunk Works location , in "Palmdale" also at the burbank site but Ontario was his primary location!
Ive had my home brew 4-element 50 ft up, for three years (OHIO), same with weather it still works great.
I'd like to build one. My friend has a set of hubs he said I could have.
@radioman2602 I invested in the ARRL ANTENNA book, an Rothammels, they have information about any type antenna system.
That quad looks badass. Up high. Dual polarity (I think). Directional. Fed by low-loss ladder line. What's not to like?
Yes dual polarity, works great!
It's better than my antenna. I wish I had your setup.
Just keep trying the best you can. I've been at this for a long time.
We all know… It will get bigger. LoL
Yes, I just need a few more minutes..LOL
I want a hater antenna 😅
