Continued work on the cabin. Cut more trees for materials, roof construction continued, door started and hung. Temperatures went from -5 C to +12 C overnight in 3 days.

Cabin building, continued. Walls erected, started on a roof structure. Discovered remnants of an old structure in the field. Wet snow forced me to put up tarp and work inside. Started on a future bed/shelf.

Small log cabin building. Mostly hand tools. Bushcraft and improvisations.

The column in the back holding up the roof would keep me up at night if the roof ends up being heavy because if that thing falls your toast depending on how sturdy/heavy the roof is.
Very good observation. I plan to add another column in the back and strengthen the existing one for that reason. Might even add another one in the center of the cabin. Also, some cross-bracing will probably be added. Thanks.
This is a very neat build. Too bad the logs aren't peeled. And where is North Bay? Sounds like Canada but who knows.

Balsam trees? Sadly this year had a short tree peeper season. Love those little guys.

Id be peeling the logs first! They'll last a lot longer! Bark holds the moisture in and protects the bugs that will be eating the logs and attracting woodpeckers!

Awesome to find your cabin build bring back many memories. My dad was a trapper I would go with him as a child stayed in many little cabins such as yours. Love that you are local as well.
