    Awesome video - are you able to charge either of your 12v battery (garmin/livescope/bubbler) or 24v battery (trolling motor) in your ice chest with any induction from the seadoo? Or do you charge them at home? I have the 2024 trophy and was going to just add livescope +2nd garmin and power both with the secondary battery (the one that does NOT connect to the engine) since the 650watt voltage generator will power the battery when driving the seadoo, but wasn't sure if i'd need to get an additional 12v battery.

    • @One-offOutdoors
      @One-offOutdoors День назад

      Those are great questions. I charge everything at home after every day of use. I have never linked them together to try to get the ski to charge the additional electronics. I’m not saying that it wouldn’t work. However I have had my single battery on my 2021 and my friends double batteries on his 2022 both drained by just the key fob and livewell. This happens because now that you have a trolling motor you can sit for hours on end and fish without ever turning on your motor. As a result your battery can’t do any recharging. So every hour you could run your ski for 5-10 minutes which defeats the whole, I want to fish in peace and not move purpose. Now with that being said the livescope, additional 12 inch chartplotter and trolling motor use massive amounts of energy. I have had them completely drain, when all hooked together to my single 24v, using a 12v step down unit for the 12v units, after about 4 hours of use. So with my current setup I have had no issues at all. I get 8 hours plus. Now with that being said I always pull my key fob as it will drain the starter battery. What I have seen is the built in ski charger is pretty weak. So even with my fob pulls I still need to recharge my main battery after every 3-4 trips. Especially if it has sat for over 10 days. Sorry this was so long but problem solving this battery issue has been quite the task. I’ve been dead in the water more than once and it’s a horrible feeling. Or my extra electronics have died which is also bad because you can’t fish. LOL

  • @Thisismyyoutubehandle1
    @Thisismyyoutubehandle1 День назад

    Awesome, do you have your livescope/fish finder system connected to the same battery as the trolling motor? I was wondering if the trolling motor and livescope system are connected to batteries that are also connected to alternator(s), or if you have to charge the entire setup before you to out and “use what you got”.

    • @One-offOutdoors
      @One-offOutdoors День назад

      So my trolling motor is 24 volt because it has a trim/stow/deploy motor on it. But even if it was a 12v system I would still run a second battery for the livescope/chartplotter. Your livescope uses a massive amount of energy. Also the so called alternator on your ski only charges when your ski is running. So always leave it on its own battery system or you will definitely find your self stranded and dead in the water. I have multiple videos that show different configurations of my battery system over the years. The link here is my latest version for my batteries. It is definitely my best setup so far for all the electronics that I use. ruclips.net/video/KyYBdVI8ir8/видео.htmlsi=y-S7Qj3b8J08RIB9

    • @One-offOutdoors
      @One-offOutdoors 2 дня назад

      Yes, I developed this out of pure frustration with my ski. Words cannot truly express how this will change your ability to fish. Lower your stress level. It just solved so many problems. My product is the only Patent Pending mounting system that places the trolling motor directly over the nose of the ski. With this mount you are trying to solve problems, not create more by placing it at a different position on your ski.

  • @jhickox
    @jhickox 3 дня назад

    Does this keep the nose from standing straight up while at trolling and no wake speeds?

    • @One-offOutdoors
      @One-offOutdoors 2 дня назад

      You actually pose a very interesting question. The trolling motor actually has minimal influence on pushing the nose of your ski down at any speed. What can create that rise in your nose is typically due to your ice chest, being full of bait water. I have a modification video on my channel that will show you how to make an adjustment on the drain tower of your Livewell System. This will reduce the weight of your water by 30 to 40%. Also your VTS button can be used to lower your nose as well, when it is in the down position, this will help bring your nose down as the bucket over your jet will create drag therefore lowering your nose.

    Great information - would a small portable battery jumper kit be worth while for carrying out on the water? or if this specific issue occurred, the spark plug failure would essential render the seadoo "dead" until you clean the spark plugs?

    • @One-offOutdoors
      @One-offOutdoors 9 дней назад

      We had a small jump pack but I have a bigger one now. But yes once plugs are fouled you are done. The main thing to remember is that your ski should start instantly. If it doesn’t STOP!!! Be patient and give it 5 minutes. Then try again with short wick cranking starts. Don’t stand on the starter. On a side note I’ve noticed that leaving the key fob in keeps all the dash going. So now I pull mine if I’ll be in one spot for longer than an hour without running my motor. Which I do all the time because I have a trolling motor to keep me anchored. Running your motor will recharge your battery but it’s very slow so pull that fob out brother. 👍

    I have this exact ski and a boat, why not just buy a boat?? I’d never spend this effort to modify my jet ski

    • @One-offOutdoors
      @One-offOutdoors 10 дней назад

      Well for me I’ve owned several boats over the years. At this point my wife and I are retired. We do a lot of dry camping on the beach so it makes an easy double tow as the skis travel nicely behind our 28ft camping trailer. Also we both enjoy our independence and this allows me to go and shark fish on my ski while my wife cruises the bay for reds and trout or just chills on a beach somewhere and reads a book. I can fish all day and travel/troll/fish 50 miles on 7 gallons of fuel. We also have atv and a dirt bike. The skis also replicate that same adventurous style but on the water. This ski allows me the ability to fish pretty much wherever I want as a multi purpose vessel. So I can freshwater bass, crappie, catfish. I can saltwater oil platforms, wrecks, bridges and bays. It’s the perfect multi tool. The price point on both skis is still cheaper than a boat. And for me the modifications are a big part of why I do this. I like the freedom of creating and designing a tailor made vessel exactly like I want. Which is probably why both of our jeeps and both our trucks are lifted and modified as well. It’s just a lifestyle and a life choice.

    • @One-offOutdoors
      @One-offOutdoors 12 дней назад

      That is my side mount for my livescope wand. Some will mount their livescope transducer on their trolling motor. That works for a boat just fine. However since a Jetski takes up such a small amount of space on the water this side mounting bracket allows you to fish 360 degrees around your vessel. A company called Fishing Specialties sells all of the hardware needed to create the wand, bracket etc. Here is a link that shows my whole setup with all needed parts and pieces. ruclips.net/video/_eN5YBifQzs/видео.htmlsi=jKXl4G3s5xIBAbC2

    • @One-offOutdoors
      @One-offOutdoors 18 дней назад

      Yes, it will fit the new Apex and it will fit all other year models of Explorer pro as well. There is a small plastic shield that is attached to that green grab rail. That just simply has to be unscrewed and removed. You can leave the rail in place. However, since my revolution model actually has a bumper system that serves as a real bumper system and push/pull bar, there’s really no reason to have that green bar on at all. So if it were me, I would just simply unscrew the whole bar and just remove it. 👍

    You’re not supposed to use grease on that because of the crap that grease attracts. Use a spray lube like corrosion x or WD40.

    • @One-offOutdoors
      @One-offOutdoors 26 дней назад

      I was also told the no grease at all just like you. But due to the wash it gets from the ocean, lake and the salt away I use to clean. The WD40 won’t keep it lubed and it will freeze up continuously. And if that 1/2 inch stainless steel worm gear rod wears down from the slow turn low repetition of stow and deploy well I don’t think I have that many lifespans brother to ever see that happen. LOL

    Not exactly a yacht but boy that looks fun What trim setting are you in riding those waves

    • @One-offOutdoors
      @One-offOutdoors 26 дней назад

      This is the first in a series of three videos. In this video I’m going basically wsw and the waves are from the south. When going directly into a wave or crosswave you want your VTS all the way up in rough swells 2-6ft. This will raise the bucket on the rear of the skis jet. This allows the rear of your ski to slip/slide and not drag. This will keep you light and nimble. This lets you change direction quickly as you are picking lines that keep you off the swells highest points. Your speed will range from 7-20mph. This keeps your nose up and let’s your keel work for you by splitting the wave’s energy. This also keeps the water from overrunning your nose. You will see that happen when you come full stop on a day like this so it’s best to gradually slow down. Thanks for the comments. I’ve never done the yacht but they do look fun. I still ride dirt bikes at 55years young. The ski has all the same skill sets but if you fall the water is more forgiving. LOL

  • @allans7281
    @allans7281 26 дней назад

    So bad ass I love how it just skims the water Did you say trim up with the big waves? that’ll raise the nose is that what you want?

    • @One-offOutdoors
      @One-offOutdoors 26 дней назад

      There are 3 videos in this series. This video shows me headed north with the waves at my back. In this case you want your VTS down as this creates more contact and will keep you from sliding/slipping off the top of a swell and nose diving. This also allows you more forgiveness if you accidentally give it to much gas. When a swell plays out all of its energy, the water under your ski will start to get sucked behind you to form the next wave. It is so important to throttle away from that at the correct speed. Too slow and the wave will pick up your rear end and well that’s not good and you could sink. You’ve seen the Haulover Inlet videos!!! You really can’t throttle to much because the water has flattened out in from of you so no risk of jumping off that wave as it is gone. HOWEVER you are going to feel that wave pull you forwards as it plays out so go forward at the correct pace. I strongly suggest that you download a swellchart app like Windfinder. Go out on a 2 ft swell day and practice on all 3 types of directional swell driving. As you get more comfortable then gradually move up in swell height. For me driving in rough is as much fun as the fishing. Learn to read the water. You have to see and feel it’s power. It’s fairly predictable just put in the time. 🤙

    What is the distance from mount to waterline? Since we are not going to be in large ocean waves, seems that a 36-48 inch shaft should be a better size. Your thoughts??

    • @Johnnyreengo
      @Johnnyreengo Месяц назад

      36 is good for a kayak. 54 would be better for skis

    • @One-offOutdoors
      @One-offOutdoors Месяц назад

      According to the math a 54 inch shaft is perfect. OK so it is 16 inches from the platform to the waters surface. Depending on your trolling motor you’re going to lose about another 8 to 12 inches of shaft length because the shaft has to go through the actual unit and or trim motor. So that’s a total of anywhere between 24 to 28 inches. And so a 54 inch shaft would put the prop in the water 26 to 32 inches below the surface. And at 30 inches, that would put the prop just below the surface of the actual hulls deepest point as it sits in the water.

      Amazon. Just type in linq fastener. That will give you the male end. Then scroll down to the “frequently bought together section to find the receivers.

    You could modify that to release the pedal on the trolling motor without leaning forward. You could have a pulley attached below the release pedal on your mount. A second line runs from you forward thru the pulley up to the release pedal to operate it. I think the biggest downside of this set up is that reach.

      Great minds think alike. That was an option I looked at. It’s definitely reachable by hand. However each person will have to make their own personal adjustments. If they have some kind of handicap or mobility issue they can buy a TM that has a motor deploy/stow function. If they want to save money on a manual unit I’ve found over the years that those individuals are just crazy resourceful and are never short of great mod ideas.

    since we are talking weight here.. If you go with the ulterra its only 24v or 36v. So you will have to purchase 2 batteries for the 24v version. A manual deploy powerdrive is 12v... one battery. Now I have a rear mounted trolling setup with a powerdrive and 1 lightweight lifep04 100ah battery that i get 5+ hours on spotlocking. My whole trolling setup is 75lbs with motor, mount and batt. A full cooler is about 100lbs. Total weight ski is rated for is 600lbs. If you are a normal sized 200lb or less adult you are going to be near 400lbs with my setup, you included. If you have a second person, in my case a 160lb wife, now im at near max capacity...at max once you add gear and fish. The reason I say this is if you are going to fish 1up, a 24v 2 batt TM will be fine. If you are going to be 2 up.. id be saving all the weight you can and batteries are heavy. I will tell you on my 22 trophy handling is severely affected at max capacity. I would NOT go over 600 lbs total, that includes passengers, gear, trolling motor and battery. this is main reason i went with a manual deploy powerdrive. Plus they are more reliable with no chance of it getting stuck in stow or deployed mode and way cheaper. I gave $1100 shipped for my Powerdrive with spotlock.

      Great comments. So above you have a lot of variables at work all at the same time. There are all kinds of solutions to problems. However the goal is to mitigate those unintended consequences. Your current setup has clean solutions but some cleanup is required. Imagine your ski as a first class lever, a seesaw. Right now all of your mods are in one spot. So not only are you out of balance but your 600lb limit is actually reduced because all your mass is on the rear of your ski which also happens to be the lowest part of the ski. This creates your handling issues. With my centered, 100% balanced, front nose trolling motor mount some of that mass is shifted to the other end of said seesaw. This actually drives your bow down 1 1/2-2 inches giving you more stability when motionless and control while steering in motion. Your a very small craft so 12v or single 24v lithium is a must and plenty of power. Battery mass is mid-rear mounted. You can cut your live well mass, far-rear mounted, in half with my live well modification for like $10. Video is on my RUclips channel. With my front mount you can use the Terrova and Ulterra. You can’t use the power drive because of the front lever release. Like I said you can clean this up and spread out your mods and they will work for you and not against you. I have also fished two up plenty, in some nasty stuff and never came close to any kind of stability issues. This rearrangement has a price tag but the benefits far outweigh cost. Especially moving your TM to the bow of your ski. As you know that’s where they are designed to be. That’s where they function the best. That’s also the safest position as it keeps the front of your ski into the current. Thanks again for your comments. Sorry this was so long but hopefully it helps.

      @@One-offOutdoors - you are spot on with your comments. I was just making sure folks are keeping an eye on the weight. Yes, my setup is more rear heavy, but isnt exceeding the rear cargo capacity as when 2up i keep the cooler loaded very light. For me I do far more than fish off my ski. It is the pleasure craft for my whole family so i need it kept modular. With a few lever flips my entire trolling motor assembly with battery and even my livescope comes right off and im down to just a cooler if the wife and I want to pack beach loungers, umbrella and a grille for a day at the islands at Texoma. Ditch the cooler when I have thee kids and now I have the ultimate tubing machine for them when we go spend a day at Lake Murray. If all I did was fish on it id go with the front mounted setup. But for me not wanting a boat and being able to "de-fish" the ski for other tasks makes the ski perfect for us. Thats a heck of a nice mount you make for the front and if my needs ever change id have one in 2 seconds.

    Can you really use a manual deploy and stow trolling motor with this new mount at the bow of the ski? I'd like to see an on-the-water demo of the actions.

      I have a video where I stow/deploy at my house under the carport. No problems whatsoever. I do show some modifications you could make if for some reasons you can’t reach. My friends wife is 5’2” and she can reach. I also have a second video where I use it crappie fishing all day with no problems. August 7th I’ll release a third video using the Terrova where I actually deploy/stow manually on the water. Which to nobody’s surprise works the same way as on land. 😂😂 But on the water is actually easier because the water catches the weight of the motor and slows the deployment down. So it’s a winner all day long. Great question and watch the three videos I mentioned and give me some feedback. Have a blessed day brother.

    Looks nice, but I do have a question, I see power wiring going to the trolling motor hanging off to the side of the ski. What is that?

    • @One-offOutdoors
      @One-offOutdoors Месяц назад

      My trolling motor has a plug on it. I have the receptacle on my ski. This allows me to easily unplug my TM and remove it using a quick release puck that is the base to the TM. That puck is then screwed to the Revolution platform. This is the same setup you would see on a boat. The length of that electrical power cord from the TM is determined by where you place your receptacle. Great question thank you 👍

      It all comes down to the platform of the ski. Do you know of a Yamaha or Kawasaki that is more of a cruiser style??? Meaning not only is it wider and longer but that the storage compartment is accessible while you’re sitting on your ski. A properly self balancing system like mine has to have a strong front end. If the storage is right on the nose then a mounting system is not advisable. The Seadoo platform checks soooooo many boxes and really is just lightyears ahead of everybody when it comes to the fishing jetski. Now Yamaha and Kawasaki are ahead on motor, performance and electronics but that is their market. Which is performance like in their motorcycles. Seadoo is your large cruiser family style craft. Just my 2 cents.
