Beautiful!
Thank you!
Looks great wish we heard how it sounded
Makes me want to take my boat out again!
When I watch it again, I get the same feeling.
Awesome video! We went out fishing last weekend. Caught 4 smaller fish.
Use the small ones for bait. Little fish catch big fish, so they say
Big fish!❤
Yep
🎉❤awesome fishing trip
Yep
No soundboard?
No, not on this version.
Damn!! Big boy!!
King of the pond!
Enjoyed this video. Video got me into turning my own calls. Appreciate it!
Thanks, they're fun to make!
Really I didn’t see you measure the thickness of the bottom, sides, or pedestal, or height or gap, REALLY you are totally messing these folks.😊
Nice job but I turn calls also,
You didn't see it because I didn't do it. I guess if I wanted them all to be exactly the same, I'd use a computerized machine to do it. I believe the users technique has more to do with the sound produced than the call It's self. But they sure are fun to make.
Turn off that stupid motorcycle
It is kind of annoying
Nice work ❤
Thanks 🔥
Thank God for gifting us our beautiful honey bees …for without them , EVERY LIVING THING on this planet would eventually DIE.
I'm just trying to help them out.
The guy didn’t seem like he knew what he was doing.
You're probably right. Just giving it my best shot.
And 2 weeks later, they're still in the box.
Looks like they’re from South Carolina
Florida
How does she know she got the queen?
When all the remaining bees on the branch flew down and went in the box I knew the queen was in there.
You must've been in heaven!!
Felt like it.
Good numbers there. Also nice that they landed in an accessible spot, not at the top of a power line or something
You're right about that!
Where are you located? I would love ti buy fresh honey
NE Florida
Can I buy some honey 😂
No, I'll just give you some
God is our Potter and we're His clay. We should be ready and available to be molded for His glory. Shalom 🍾 🙏
God is good! Beautiful honey!
Questions from a fellow wood turner trying to figure out how to make turkey calls. I haven't done one so explain as much as possible, Barney style if need be. 1. Roughly, how wide is the final call? What is the width of your marking template disk? 2. Why do you use the quarter one top? Is it to hide the worm screw hole? Can you use a decorative piece of wood instead of a quarter? 3. The 5/16" holes, are those basically centered between the outside rim and center hole? 4. Where does one get slate from for calls? How thick is that slate insert? 5. The finale depth of the call, is 7/8" your rough estimate or an accurate point to hit for the echo? 6. Is not using a sounding better or more of a preference thing? How big and thick would a sounding board need to be? 7. Why do you use 3/8" ish for the top thickness rather than thinner or thicker? Sorry if these seems like a lot of questions, I seek to understand everything about projects. Knowing the small details allows me to make a better finished product.
Thanks for the questions. I'll answer in the same order. 1. The call usually is around 3 3/4" in diameter. The template is 4 1/8" 2. Yes, it covers the hole. The 2015 Louisiana quarter has a turkey on the back. I use that one if i have it. Anything can be used. 3. The holes are 1 3/8" out from the center 4. I use grassy creek game calls for most of my supplies. The slate is .080 thick 5. It's what I shoot for. 6. The sounding board is a preference thing. I usually use a 3" diameter piece of glass when I put one in. 7. 3/8" is just my target. Mostly, if you were to put a tape to my calls, you'll find that they all vary slightly dimensions. The sizes I mentioned are just target sizes. The sounds produced will vary. I find the sounds produced mean more to the caller than the turkey. I've made some weird sounding calls, to me, but the turkeys are still responding to them.
If I didn't give you what you were looking for, let me know.
Gnarly
It was a very exciting hunt
Looks nice! How long does it take to make something like this?
Hands on time, maybe 3 hours. But this was a very wet piece to start with. So I roughed it out, then set it aside for about 6 months to let the wood dry, then re turned it and then finished it.
❤love love
All for you
So beautiful
Thank you!
My husband turns and I am always amazed at the beautiful creation from a piece of wood
