Would you ever consider relocating to Montenegro permanently? If not why not?
Hmmm good question! I would definitely live in Montenegro for a couple of months for sure but would like relocate and live there on a permanent basis probably not. I’m more into living in bigger cities with great access to traveling world wide. Also lifestyle, diversity etc.
@@philipperre Thank you for your answer and also for the very helpful video.
Istanbul is an amazing city but definitely affording these tourist traps would make your trip allot smoother for sure. Please comment if you have experience any other scams or tourist traps we need to know about.
Didn’t I was going to have this much fun in Malaysia! So much fun I might move there 😅
Cold and dry visit Mexico and live the real experience
Hmm I don’t know if you have actually visited Tuscany or the coastal part of Tuscany but it’s far from cold or dry! Teh Tuscany region is absolutely amazing, great food, good beaches, fun nights and better wine. And yes I’ve been to Mexico several times.
Italy is always so lovely. Didn’t know Tuscany had beaches. My favourite region in Italy!
Мне жить не где 😢
Have no idea what this means
Hope the cats are treated well at least, it's still a hard life for any poor stray.
Cats get treated like royalty. And they are feed very well, which is good to see. 🙌🏾
What an absolutely stunning city divided between Europe and Asia. A city you must see at least once in your life.
Wow I’ve never seen to many cats in one city in my life. But getting to know more and doing some research it makes sense. Cats are part of the alore of this beautiful city. Have you been to Istanbul ?
You need to see Grebaye Valey. The vieuw from Volusnica. One of the best vieuw in the World. Its a part of Prokletije national park
Yes I heard about it. Didn’t have enough time to go up there. But I will definitely my bext visit. 🙌🏾
Definitely watch this all the way through, cause if you’re going to Istanbul city for the first time, this will save you so much time. I toke me like 4 hours to get from airport to my hotel. Never again will I do that option again. Here’s some options for you. Hope this helps!
This city though. So magical when it’s not raining. Unfortunately it rained half the time haha. What’s it like in the summer ?
Re Booking Strategy: I want an KL apartment for 2 months, Dec,7-> Feb 3. But...is it smarter to book for three nights, scope out the complex and the unit first, and then negotiate, in person, to extend. Correct? Or if not, why not? What about dispensing with a booking altogether? I gather that these towers are generally 1/3 vacant anyway, so just show up, and see what they got... Good idea or a bad one?
Yeah advice you to book somewhere for like 3-4 days then explore different apartment blocks and see what suits your needs and definitely go directly with landlord and come up with an agreement. Going through Airbnb or hotels.com will be allot more expensive. Pictures look amazing but you have to see property for yourself in person and find out apartment laws and restrictions etc. Just shop around there’s so many nice ones in different areas/locations etc.
This absolutely beautiful city of two half’s, one European one Asian. The food great, nightlife is fun and lots to see and do. There’s even loads of cats if you’re a cat person hahaha
Prices are hell all year, do not come thinking off season will be different, off season they will just be closed. People here have a dollar sign in the front head
Oh wow so it’s like that all round of the year? Yikes!
@@philipperre here prices go up for the season but they never go down again, until next season when they go up again
Hahaha. He have not so much knowledge about specific things but his points are all correct. He got a very accurate review. Expensive, crazy car stuck, small roads, people drive like crazy, people not so friendly like many other countries
Haha I mean wasn’t trying to put down Montenegro. I still had an amazing time. But the prices definitely stood out the most.
totally get it. I feel the same way and i have to live here all year. Rent is a 40% of the salary even paying the lowest rent possible. now you imagine how tight we live with this current prices, specially food.
It's ok to come in June. But early September is the best. April and May is OK, but the water will probably be pretty cold for swimming... Unless you are a Russian, in which case you might swim in December as well. But that's neither here nor there. Definitely avoid July and especially August. Even early July you can still have OK time. As far as prices, not sure what you are referring to, cause it's definitely cheaper than Croatia or any Western Country. As an expat Montenegro is still very cheap. Not sure for how much longer, since it's working on joining EU. Once that happens, the prices will really go up. So at least 2-3 more years it will remain relatively cheap. Never paid for 2 scoops of ice cream in Montenegro more than 3 euros! So again, not sure where you buyin this golden ice cream. But it's true, July-August the prices are higher. Not 6 euro 2 ice cream scoops higher, but again, 3 euros instead of usual 2 euros for 2 scoops.
Small Pizza, beer, water in 90% Restaurants during peak season should not be more than 20 euros, and in most cases it's around 15 euros. So again, where are you finding these places? There are definitely expensive places, but you have to know to find them. General, run of the mill coastal restaurants should be OK.
Thanks for the info. Next time I will definitely aim to go in September and definitely not July. As far as pricing like you said you have lived there, and obviously know your way around. For tourists like myself the prices were high, very high than expected. I did not make up prices unless I was scammed everyone I got ice cream or eat at a restaurant. Prices are high during the peak times especially in areas i visited on the coast as stated in the video. I yes still cheaper than most western countries in Europe but I found the ALGARVES & Portugal in general cheaper.
I went to various all restaurants and that were the prices, again mate I didn’t these prices up that’s what I paid. So instead of criticising prices I had pay, give up some good options so other travelers can try them & hopefully avoid higher prices.
@@philipperre I did not criticize. It was a legit question. And I did explain why I was confused too. Either way, feel free to reach out and let's connect. I'll hook you up with all the info you need next time you come to visit. I grew up in Montenegro till I was 17 and I moved back to Montenegro in 2016 after 25 years living in the US. So I can hook you up with all the info you need to know, and then you can share with your audience.
@@kilepesic4027 appreciate that 🙌🏾
and plaese no say montengro its expensiv only budva abd arount its expensive another city its better im life in city bar and for me eat and trinks not expensive its normal you go budva and perez thats not montenegro alone go norht its better price in bar you go restoraunt pizza price 10 or 15 euro and water 1.50 euro
Not only budva but kotor and tivat, places I visited as stated in the video. I can’t die so got places I did not visit and those are prices for places I went to. And yes was more expensive than expected. So give us restaurant options that may be cheaper, so other traveled can try them.
you not ride budva its expensive another city im montenegro man im life in bar when you trink coffe in bar you pay 2 .50 in budva you pay 7.50 normal budva its hot spot for summer time
Lisbon is more chill, Madrid is more bustling. Lisbon is on the seashore, Madrid is inland. Lisbon is more mature (one of the oldest cities in the world), Madrid is more youthful (there's always a party going on somewhere). But overall they are much more alike than they are different and both are awesomely charismatic and charming. The whole Iberian Peninsula is a treat.
Very well said! Actually couldn’t agree anymore 🙌🏾
I flew into Podgorica,at the end of june, and enjoyed my taxi ride to Kotor. Quite expensive, but absolutely besutiful experience ❤❤
Yes it’s definitely an experience that must be done. Next time maybe re book a transfer in advance, might be cheaper. Yes, it’s a beautiful country with great scenery.
@@philipperre awesome 👌 the black mountains ⛰️ ♥️ 😍
I know this video I might seem like I’m leaning way more to Lisbon but it’s my honest opinion of visiting both places several times and I’m going for an all round experience. Hsve you been, what’d you guys favourite & why?
I love your honest reviews!
Thank you so much. Appreciate the comment 🙌🏾
Don’t think I’ve seen to many wild cats ever in my entire life in one place lol
Crazy times in Phuket. 😅
The ideal itinerary is 4 days (from london). Day 1 - fly to podgorica. Drive the old road to budva. Stay in budva. Use the rest of day 1 to tour budva old town. Day 2 - drive to Kotor. Day 3 - day trip to dubrovnik fro. Dubrovnik. Avoid the ferry for a nicer drive around the shore. About 2.75 hours. Leave at about 6am and youll be in dubrovnik by 9 the latest. Drive back at night to reach budva by 11pm. Day 4 - if its a late flight, finish off anything you didnt see in budva then head back. In my opinion, the mistake is that people spend more time in dubrovnik and do a day trip to montenegro. I visited in October and it was less busy and still warm. £425 for the 4 days including flight, hotel, car, fuel, food (did not eat much as food was a struggle for me)
Hmm good points. But we are taking about and focusing on Montenegro not Dubrovnik. So let’s focus on giving advice for people strictly for Montenegro. I was in Montenegro for 6 days and had an absolute fabulous time. So all depends on people and their preference.
My home country!
Beautiful country for sure 🙌🏾
@@philipperre thanks 😁
Algarve in Portugal is amazing but just make sure you avoid these tourist traps. Also experiment on areas to stay in but if you need recommendations of the 2 areas I stayed in then shout me in the messages. Hope the video helps!
Great summer get away spot in Eastern Europe. Definitely would go back.
Did you pay a tourist tax when entering Montenegro by car?, I was told they charge €10 per vehicle.
No I didn’t have to pay any tourist tax. I had the green card insurance from my rental company which I think covers crossing Croatia to Montenegro and back. I paid 60 euros for the green card insurance.
@@philipperre It's different from vehicle insurance. It's just because you are a tourist. So I get the impression you never paid it. Some do some don't know about it. Thanks anyway.
Tellement beau l’Algarve
Absolutely, so stunning. I’m definitely going back next year.
This video will prepare you and give you all you need for your trip to Montenegro. If I missed anything please let me know in the comments.
This has to be one of the most beautiful places in all of Europe!
Great tips! Thanks! By any chance did you have to pay a cross border fee when you rented the car in Dubrovnik and drove into Montenegro?
Yes had to pay for cross country at the rental company in Dubrovnik, was like 60 euros. I didn’t have to pay at border as already paid at rental company. So I’m not sure how much it would be for crossing from Dubrovnik for Montenegro and back.
Thanks for the information
Anytime. Hope it helps!
If you’re new to Thailand and especially in Bangkok, don’t make these tourist mistakes and you’ll have a fabulous stress free time. Let me know in the comments if I missed anything.
Man blessed to get see some incredible places on this beautiful plan earth we live on. Thailand really does have some beautiful beaches!
This video is very informative. Very good Thanks. Lot more history in Bukarest is not correct. The historical Buda castle and palace complex was built in 1265. Wallachia/ old Romania/ was founded in 1310. Mathias church was built in 1255. Parlament building was built in 1904 the romanian in 1994. Baths, churchs and many more buildings are more older than in Bukarest. Hungary is one of the oldest country in europe 425 years older than Romania. 950 years long was Kingdom of Hungary! 70 years long was Kingdom of Romania. You can see in Parlament building the 1000 years old Holy Crown of Hungary !(Hungarian: Szent Korona,[note 1] Latin: Sacra Corona), also known as the Crown of Saint Stephen, named in honour of Saint Stephen I of Hungary, was the coronation crown used by the Kingdom of Hungary for most of its existence; kings were crowned with it since the twelfth century. The Crown symbolized the King's authority over the Lands of the Hungarian Crown (the Carpathian Basin), and it was a key mark of legitimacy. Through the history of Hungary, more than fifty kings were crowned with it, with the last being Charles I in 1916. The only kings not so crowned were Wladyslaw I,[1] John Sigismund Zápolya, and Joseph II. Or in Bukarest the 140 years old Steel Crown! King Carol I of the Romanians was forged at the Army Arsenal (Arsenalul Armatei) in Bucharest from the steel of a cannon captured by the Romanian Army from the Ottomans during its War of Independence.
Yeah I miss some I actually meant Budapest anywhere. So yeah I agree, even though both great culture & history in both cities, Budapest does definitely come out on top.
Some great insight and tips! Brilliant video and your honesty is invaluable. I am going next April 25 with my wife and 2 teenage boys 14 & 16 so this video has been so helpful. Your comments on night driving made me laugh ( I ain’t doin that shit) albeit a serious subject. Thinking of hiring a car too to see the sights so any further insights on recommended places to go would be good. Keep up tipping too as I’m with you on that 👍🏻 Top man 👊🏻
Glad you liked the video. Actually like I’ve been told by locals, April & May is a greyer time to go. Hopefully the prices are allot less than peak times when I went. Also fly into Montenegro and rent a car there. I flew into Dubrovnik, rented a car and drove into Montenegro. I will definitely not do that again, and next time fly dowrdctoy into Montenegro and rent a car from he airport. I used ok mobility and did it via their website. Allot better. Traffic should be allot less in April.
Rent your car with a local company called sitngo in Montenegro. Unlimited mileage, no deposit, easy process, no extra cost to travel across border from montenegro to Croatia. Podgorica is the recommended airport to fly into.
I mean what can I say about Montenegro, it’s definitely a vibe. Allot more expensive than i thought but I vibe regardless!
Man it was hot and humid in KL, but as long as you’re prepared for it you’ll be fine. And don’t forget to dive into all the amazing foods.
Man ,sorry ….but you are bipolar 😂😢😮😊🎉❤
I would love to visit both .I haven't made it to eastern Europe yet .that will be my next vlogs when I go back to Europe again .thanks for the information tho .
Yeah you definitely have to check out both cities, will not regret it. 🙌🏾
This was a super tough one for me, as I absolutely loved both cities. Hmm what do you guys think, did I pick wrong ? I hate your favourite Eastern European city?
Bucharest is becoming Eastern Europe’s top destination. I’m struggling to come up with 3 better cities. Help me out guys!
Bucharest, most fun and cheapest european city right now?
The number one mistake tourists make in Montenegro, in my opinion is taking a trip to Montenegro. Trap a fart in a blanket and cover your head with it while viewing landfill images on your phone, same effect but less expensive. Have a friend act rude and dismissive towards you nearby for increased immersion.😊
Im from Montenegro, this is true. Our summer traffic is horrendous especially on the coast. Now I visit my family in Boka Bay once a year and they always tell me DO NOT COME FROM MID JULY-SEPTEMBER. This is because we dont really have freeways and highways on the coast, so if you go to Dubrovnik you must first cross Croatia/Montenegro border which can take hours and then if you are going past Boka Bay you must either take ferry (which causes huge traffic jam and you can wait for hours) or go around the bay. I would always suggest to go around the bay because you get to see 2 Montenegrin gems, towns of Perast and Kotor which are must see in Montenegro! But I will give you local tip 😉 there is a "secret" border between Croatia and Montenegro, known to only locals. It's called - Kobila (on peninsula called Prevlaka) It's between towns of Dubrovnik and Herceg Novi, and its not on the Jadranska street that everyone goes to. You can put in google maps "Border crossing Kobila", you gonna wait 0 minutes on this border, it's unlike anything you've ever seen, 2 border officers play cards and chill on this border. We, locals use this border in summer. Takes about 20-30 min longer to get to this border but since there is no cars and no wait you will get in Montenegro faster. But I agree with you, it's better to go to Tivat 100%, you will avoid border and ferry, it will definietly save time. Hope you had a good time in Montenegro :)
I was planning to go to Montenegro next summer, untill I saw this video 😏 Now I'm doubting so much cause I don't wanna be stucked in the traffic all the time and thought it was a cheap, less known country to visit.... Thanks for the tips, I am confused right now 🤔
Hey, hmm thought the same. But il be totally honest is wasn’t cheap like i thought. Matter fact it’s like being in Greece price wise. Plus very busy during peak summer cause of it being a damm country and one lane roads. But honestly I would 100% still go but in the less busier times, try to avoid peak times. But if you do go during peak times, just be prepared in advance etc.
Hmm yeah think need to do another video with a voice over, but it’s ac close one, but for all round I would go with Bangkok.
