do you think you'd consider making a video going over some common situations marisa starts combos in and what the max damage combos are for each situation? (e.g. midscreen, corner, counter, punish counter, light starter, medium starter, drive reverse bait etc.)
I could do a riff on this sort of thing. Just going over the best extensions from different starters. Not a bad idea.

fire! But man, the matchup meta has changed against Marisa and most everyone is spamming the jumps, its been driving me nuts lately, im so sick of it with no good anti air. I forget, do you have a vid on countering all these cross ups?? its all like as soon as im out of range after a string they crossup or jump straight up, which catches like everything marisa has, and if I jump to trade I get DP'd, this sucks
Jump back LP is pretty much all we’ve got on crossups. And I might be going crazy, but I’m starting to come around on crouch HP actually being decent as an anti air. It’s not good, but lately I’ve been thinking it’s actually okay.

Damn. Just like Bison, The worst shoto, Akuma, and Luke, Marisa is also the kinda "low tier" I like. I have to start playing, instead of learning how to deal with her. LOL.
Except unlike those characters she actually does struggle. I think she’s super fun, though. You need to hit them three times and you win.

What makes this better than the existing 5LP frame kill into 4[HP]?
I wouldn’t say better; to me it’s on the same level of good. But the thing that makes it worth going for is that after 4[HP] you’re not automatically in command grab range most of the time. IIRC, the 4[HP] setup will like auto shimmy/you’ll grab their whiffed grab, but if they hold still they won’t get grabbed. A big advantage that 4[HP] has is that they cant drive reversal it on block, but 5[HP] can be.
@ I didn’t know the 4[HP] was safe to drive reversal there. It definitely leaves you close enough to command grab, though… I do it all the time.
@ I just booted it up and you’re correct, it should be in range of command grab. However, on classic, the input for Scutum is quarter circle back, and if you don’t buffer it correctly in the recovery of 4HP you end up walking back a little bit and put yourself out of range. Obviously not a problem you have on modern since the input is forward special.

@@ZachHenke Instead of the charged 5HP in the mixup. When you frame kill with 2MP. It felt easier to time the wake up counter hit instead of charged 5HP. But I guess you're -4 instead of +4 on block.

Great vid as always. Can't we use OD Gladius to beat some of those DPs? I believe you have a video on that too about the medium target combo mixup.
Some of them yes, but it’s much more likely to be thrown for a few reasons. 1. It’s just slower. The fastest command grab will come out in 13 frames, although to beat DP you need to make it come out in about 15 frames instead. The fastest that OD Gladius can come out is 19 frames. 2. The number of armor hits that OD DP has is actually dependent on you charging the move at least a little bit, so you will often only get one hit of armor if you release it immediately.

How many frames of armor do you have against dp. Can you realistically delay it enough for slow reversals like ed?
Not and catch common delay tech timings, but you can hold the armor for more than a full second.

HK, DR double knees, DR LK HP-smash, something post bounce, is such an unintuitive bizarre ass combo and tricky timing but I got it on the very last match that got me Master last night. 24000+ was a slog though happy to be done with this character. Most of the time you see the worst in others, running away the entire match only whiff punishing you, neutral jumps, only offense a random DR low or jumping on your head.
why do the colors looks very washed?
I’m honestly not sure. It’s a recent occurrence. I need to look and see if something got wonky with some settings somehow.

the sequence is cool, but mashing super or reacting to that is quiet easy actually. As you don't go for any cheap damages, the gameplan is more or less obvious as a defence. I don't feel it to be consistent. Think about mixing mates !
There’s a reason the opponent has no super in this video, and that the scenario I go over at the end is about an opponent with no super.
