The biggest difference would be the trucks, a lot of the riders use trucks like Ronin or Robot Oblivion which use a split angle. The front trucks turn a lot while the rear provides a lot of lean without turning. The term these days is called downhill slalom trucks as most riders ride slalom trucks that are built for downhill skating. If your looking for a more affordable option calibre have just started to offer precision trucks that provide these options. You’re going to want to look for a high angle at the front with a low angle in the rear. As for wheels they use magnums from venom. They are often 78mm. The length of the board definitely makes things more stable but stiffness makes a difference, when it’s flexi you don’t feel when the board begins to twitch but when it’s stiff you can control the twitches. A lot of info but there’s so many variables that you’ll discover as you ride more. Keep shredding 🤙

@@oneeyedpupproductions2821 Super response, thank you i'm sadly going into winter now, so i will be looking for the ideal days... and I have a wife and 2 kids :D life on the board has become less and less -- and when it's hot I don't want to dress up :/ my city's always windy; :/ but i love LDP for fitness, more than hill bombing, once I push I just go, I've got 97mm wheels from evo longboards - the road wheels; with wide caliber 2 trucks :? Never get wheel bite thanks to them, but the deck is the rayne nemesis :? from like 2010/2013 era; :) so it's very nice and thick- and stiff, but perhaps I need to tighten my trucks a bit more :? that's the only thing i have not covered; I love silicon lubricant for my bearings :D

A great insight haha, luckily it was parked on the inside of the corner so the chances of losing control and hitting it were lowered but we got the guy to move it when he came out to watch 😁

@oneeyedpupproductions2821 where I live in Detroit at 15 year old kid was getting chased on his four-wheeler by the cops and they shot him with a taser out there car window and he crashed into the back of a parked SUV only doing about 20 or 30 mph and it killed him. It doesn't take much sometimes. I've been longboarding for at least two decades and the fastest I ever go is about 30 miles an hour. I want to learn how to power slide so I can go faster. I need harder Wheels though, I think mine are too soft and grippy. I was thinking maybe practicing in the rain would be a good way to learn

@@cpt.oblivion practicing in the rain is definitely a good way to get comfortable with breaking traction but it’s a situation where you slide but have no control. I’d start with getting slide gloves and looking up how to Coleman slide. 30mph should be fast enough to break traction but wheels that are the wrong shape definitely stop that from happening. Round lipped 78 to 82a softness would be a great place to start. Check out www.muirskate.com/ for a pretty good selection of gear.

Safety is a top priority yes. We use radios and spotters to let the riders know of any cars on the hill. This hill is a mountain access road so there are no driveways or unexpected cars.
