Re: Is prepping fading out. Do a RUclips or Google search for any state Emergency Management. Most, if not all, states have an office of some kind. Some states have a great selection of informative videos, articles, posters, pdfs, training programs. I’ve noticed they run out of steam or topics but what they have is valuable. I have subscribed to Be Ready Utah, CO Disability Support Network (Oregon), EMDPrepare (Washington) and learned things not covered by prepper channels.

Wouldn't a well-placed ball point pen suffice as a weapon? Last I heard, knitting needles passed TSA. Don't know the logic. AND could't a bad guy/gal hide explosive/dangerous liquids in a baby bottle? I wonder about the lack of creativity in the rule-makers. On the other hand, there is no 100% preventive procedure. 🤔

My husband is a pastor. I've been on the listening end of phone conversations of survivors agonizing over funeral details. - What would Mama want? What kind of flowers? Music? Sit-down dinner or finger-food buffet? Then there are the awful stories of "Mama deserves the best ($10,000) casket, hearse, burial plot on the hill, etc." I don't want my children to have to be detectives (i.e. is there a safety deposit box? where is it? Storage unit? Which bank are they using? Are there annuities we don't know about? Is Rover on any medications? What do you mean only two of the three children are beneficiaries of the life insurance?) Horror story - children of the current wife's former marriage get all the husband's inheritance while children of the first marriage are left out. No will. I resist the "morbid" adjective of this topic. I love my family and want them to "suffer" the least by giving them as much information as I can - all in one place (i.e. a binder, special fire-proof file box, not the safety deposit box) so they can grieve without the possibility of money falling through the cracks. People who say "I won't care, I'll be dead" are irresponsible, in my opinion. It's a lot of work but should be done. I recommend a book "Get It Together" by Melanie Cullen, 10th edition, Nolo Publications. It's an education. So many things we don't think about because no one ever told us. There should be a required class in high school senior year. BTW, the binder/fire-proof file box is an excellent way to evacuate/bug out with all your documents since they are all in one place - two birds with one stone. AND your heirs can take care of you when the Alzheimers sets in because it's all laid out. Buy the book. Get It Together.

I can't speak for other states, but here in Pennsylvania the solar option provided by the power company is only worth it if you have a regular bill of around 300. My brother just got this installed with him his wife and his daughter, he was paying around 200 in the summer. His new bill is over 300, so he is paying more to provide power to the electrical company smh. Not to mention he has no back up power supply/ battery bank because it's fed back to the grid. Plus he will be paying for the install for basically the life of the mortgage and it shows as a lien on his house. So they advertise that you can sell back to the grid and make money towards your bill, but they forget to mention that unless your normal bill is under a certain amount you will be paying more for the install. I think he said that ppl (electric company) has a list of installers that you must pick from, or you will not be allowed to tie into the grid. That is the reason why there is more solar panels on more homes here, not because the price came down but because they made an effort to trick people into falling into this trap.
