Yo Yo Ma - Bach Six Cello Suites - The Odeon of Herodes Atticus Greek Live
In 2018, Yo Yo Ma started a musical tour around the world. He planned to tour in 36 cities in six continents around the world to play Bach's Six Cello Suites. The ancient Greek Theater, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens, was his first stop. Unfortunately, the Pandemic stopped Yo Yo Ma's world music tour. The performance in the Odeon of Herodes Atticus Greek was one of the most beautiful ve...

Maisky is much more expressive, and I find most people enjoy his romantic playing. Then again, you could always look up the "historically accurate" Baroque interpretations of masters like Anner Bylsma and Hidemi Suzuki, just to name a few. I find myself oftentimes listening to Enrico Dindo, as I feel he provides a perfect middle-ground, incorporating many Baroque elements in his playing, combined with romantic ones. I usually don't talk this much, but I feel Bach's Cello Suites are something of virtually infinite possibilities and interpretations.
Very helpful!

Thanks!

Pathetic.
He looks like he’s enjoying a lot 😊
I was there! He finally spoke midway through and is a witty man.
Mr. Yo-Yo Ma really know to play cello. 🌹🌹🌹❤
Hello how are you doing it’s nice meeting you here
Tiene algo especial Yo Yo Ma.
So proud that YoYo Ma is an American. The best musician we've every produced.
Weirdest comment ever. You know he plays music, right? His place of domicile is American. He is not an automobile. ‘We’ have no more ‘produced’ his genius than have the nations of composers whose music he performs. Maybe sports would be easier for you?
@@artysanmobile He's an American that plays music from all over, but his genius makes the music beautiful. I prefer to think he's an incredible example for young American artists. He's not domiciled in America, he was born and raised here.

"Noise is from cicada on microphone" is the single best subtitle I've ever seen in my life.
34:50 for those wondering.
Gotta love outdoor venues
It's a magical magnet 💚🌍🌎🌏💫
Sitting out in the warm late winter Northern Nevada sun, some beer and cigarettes close at hand, I listened to all. Best day I've had in a while. Thanks Yo Yo Ma, Thanks Bach.
Leonard Rose would be very proud.
The cello is the most human of instruments, and represents the closest to replicating humanity's vocal range. Bach's genius, was to lift humanity's voice, YoYo is his finest instrument. He seems inspired from a spirit we cannot see, but he does.
Obra cumbre de la música universal
cello is beautiful but it is the viola the one that matches the most the human frequencies (from a violist). That being said, Yo Yo Ma is an absolute master of his instrument and few if any can play like him at his best. Though in my humble opinion, his techniques shines much more in more virtuosistic romantic works (Listen to him playing Vocalise)
21:48 a dog?
There will never be another
😂😊
Siempre los chelistas comienzan con esta. Suit.
A cicada on the microphone (last movement of 2nd suite)!! That must have annoyed him.
how do you not have a fail safe? did they only have one mic? sound guy committed crimes against humanity.
💜☄️🌌
Dr Marsick is an exceptional role model and mentor. I felt as if I had been transported back to the classroom at TC. Sage advice. Powerful educator!
Shes my great aunt, shes just a really good person too.
Quelle merveille !
Oui, oui. Bien sur!
thank you, MAESTRO Yo-yo Ma. I cannot remember ever enjoying the cello suites so much as when i attended this concert ! You lifted my heart and soul. mlle. Lyon
Gracias por tan magnifica magnífica interpretación
Absolutely astonishing musicianship and Yo Yo Ma captures the spirit of Bach. He plays it exactly the way Bach intended it to be played. It's a spiritual experience to listen to this incredible composition by Bach. These six cello suites capture every aspect of life itself. The happy, the sad, the determination, and love. This is a masterpiece performance. May Mother Goddess continue to bless Yo Yo Ma.
Glib, abrasive, parochial, bourgeois, dismissive, abusive - all appropriate adjectives to describe this 'performance'. "Absolutely astonishing musicianship and Yo Yo Ma captures the spirit of Bach. " An astonishing public admission on your part that even at the age of 50-55, you haven't begun to discover Bach. "He plays it exactly the way Bach intended it to be played" 2nd public admission. "It's a spiritual experience to listen to this incredible composition by Bach. " An astonishing public admission on your part that even at the age of 50-55, you still struggle and paw at the word 'spiritual' to see if you can experience spirituality for the first time in your life. "The happy, the sad, the determination, and love. " The glib, the abrasive, the bourgeois, the dismissive, the abusive, the parochial. "This is a masterpiece performance" For a giant gaggle of extremely white, booze-addled Karens inhaling overpriced white wine by the boxload. "May Mother Goddess continue to bless Yo Yo Ma." Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand THERE'S the confirmation stamp - Karen is IN the house, sufficiently soused and clawing at the universe to discover Bach, the cello and spirituality.
Only another musician can know and appreciate the time effort sweat isolation and tears it takes ❤❤ the reward is. ECSTASY
