    Does the "circulate Mode" use the same fan to circulator as the fan that pushes the cold or hot air thru the vent system or is it a different fan? Whatever I select on my thermostat (Honeywell) I can hear a slight click when I select it. Bit when I select Circulate I don't hear a click and no air is moving. I have to leave the fan on 24X7 to circulate the are. Is there something wrong with the fan or my thermostat ?

    Yeah it would probably be at least 10 years before you see any savings after paying off a new one versus keeping an old one running. Not everyone wants or needs the fancy eco computer tech. Just give me a compressor, condensor, and a fan motor.

    Hello. I have a nordyne gas furnace and I can see one vent for sure going to the roof and I think the other one is what brings in Greg air. My pressure switch is stuck on and the troubleshooting said to check the venting for debris that might be clogging it. So should I try to get the tops off to see if there are leaves or something blocking the vents?

    We had to separate on the vents (the silver insulated tube) off our furnace bc of an “oversized” furnace. It keeps tripping like an overloaded computer. It’s run without problems for 3 years.

    Thank for the video. I had my furnace replaced 3 years ago and it was oversized. It countinued to over heat and shut off and turn back on right away. Ive had the technician out 7x now though out the install to try to fix. I was told by a different hvac tech that the has was tuned down to temporarily fix the over heating. Well now its in the negative cold snap here in Chicago and my heat cant keep up with the -10s and 20+degree windshield. Runs all night for few days stright sometimes dosent shut off. We went to bed and it was 74 degrees woke up and it was reading 68 degrees in the home. Had to buy a space heater to make it though last few days. Different techs who came out said the furnace installed was to large for my home. Also the return air duck was to small. They said the downstairs area could use a return because it dosen't have one. My question is, is this issue fixable and is the contract responsible for rectifying this problem with the correct size furnace. I have a warranty company that i use and they now said they aren't going to replace it, even though they admited to the contractor they used said the new units to big. My old furnace never had that problem before. Any recourse you can recommend be greatly appreciated.

  • @Nusremmus

    The bigger question is not the cost of the equipment, that's completely understandable. But charging 12 to 15 thousand dollars to replace a condenser and an evap coil on a basic 3 ton system, is where the math goes bonkers. And there is no doubt that collusion to price fix is occurring along with questionable financing contracts. It's easy to see what the cost of a top of the line condenser / evap coil cost. And at best that leaves the cost of labor around $3000.00 an hour

      @@juanalonso2743 Nope. I never found out what it was. These past few months were a bit chilly with the on and off snow, had the heat going on for 5 days total every month, and I have to say I’m not 75% sure since I haven’t been paying attention with the on and off snow certain times of the week, but it sounds like the incessant noises decreased well enough where I can tolerate it, faint compared to where it was months ago. But if the snow starts up again, I’ll get back to you with a 100% certainty of how the noises are sounding

    with restricted ductwork variable speed furnace blower motor will speed up to 1200 rpm unlike basic furnace 1075 rpm. with restricted ductwork it may use too much amps. but most variable speed furnaces are two stage what means they will operate in lower stage heat and blower most of the time. i think variable speed furnace will use more electricity in heat mode only if its wired incorrectly in high stage only. !?!? in cooling mode its different if anyone upgraded to variable speed furnace keeping 1 stage ac unit its absolute waste of money.

    Hi Tony - I have a 2006 80% downdraft gas furnace that from day one has produced vibrating noise from the metal cabinet itself. If seems like it is caused by the inducer fan which seems to be operating properly. The warmer the metal box gets the more vibration noise is created. I could deal with a constant sound but the noise I get varies in pitch making it more noticeable. Any thoughts on isolating the vibration noise would be greatly appreciated. I thought of lifting the furnace and setting it on a industrial rubber mat of some sort. Thanks in advance.

    HOW DO YOU KNOW IF ITS CRACKED

    • @GenuinecomfortUtah
      @GenuinecomfortUtah 7 месяцев назад

      To find a crack in a heat exchanger, it takes a camera in most cases. However, you can also know if a heat exchanger is cracked you can put a Low PPM carbon monoxide detector on a supply register and as the furnace runs if it stays at 0 you are just fine

  • @drwhoeric
    @drwhoeric 7 месяцев назад

    90%+ efficiency furnaces take longer to peak in temperature after starting and have a longer cool down time. For that reason, many never reach peak temperature as the thermostat reaches the desired room temperature when the furnace initiates shut down.

  • @shenmisheshou7002
    @shenmisheshou7002 7 месяцев назад

    I have a variable speed furnace, but in reality, it will only run at 5 speeds, even though it has the necessary circuitry to run at any speed. Mine is used with a two stage air conditioner and from the factory, it has two AC speeds, two heat speeds, and one fan speed preset into the system. Using switches on the unit, I can change the speed for any of these run modes, but it cannot be varied on demand by my two stage AC or the heater other than to select the different modes, which are esentially high and low for heat and for AC, and a setting for a low volume circulation only. Now with a two speed condenser, it really is necessary to use a furnace like this because once again, you need to have the ability to match the air flow to the different stages. I had an inverter based system where the condenser could change over an "infinite" range, then the blower would commicate with the condensor to match the speed of the blower and the pressure of the condenser (at least this is my understanding). Otherwise, my variable speed furnace can only run at one of five speeds, but I can manually set the speed for each stage using the controls on the furnace, but I have to go into my crawl space to do that and I think it is pretty complex because you need to be able to kind of get your drop in real time to avoid too low of an airflow to cause the evaporator to ice up .

    It is customary to oversize the heating system a bit for the extreme weather, old school.

    • @GenuinecomfortUtah
      @GenuinecomfortUtah 7 месяцев назад

      Yes, however, you want to make sure the duct system you have can handle it. That is where some contractors go cheap to cut costs, and if your duct system is small then you will burn out your new furnace faster. I've seen this scenario: the new furnace only lasted 5 years and the heat exchanger cracked. The heat exchanger may be under warranty but usually, the labor won't be and that's expensive

  • @user-oc2lx2qj7d

    The 95% furnace will feel the same as long as you get one set for the same temperature rise. Most come from factory set for low rise to achieve nameplate efficiency but are adjustable. It will lose a little effiency.. to about 93%,

  • @russdavis1960
    @russdavis1960 8 месяцев назад

    So pretty much like anything else... make it 'more efficient' so it will save operating cost BUT, it will cost you the same because of more frequent repairs and eventual replacement.....Got it.

    Hello, I have a Rheem, 2-ton, 15 SEER, heat pump system in a 1456 sqft house that was built on a slab (no basement). When the a/c is running, the downstairs is cool while the upstairs is hot. There are 4 ceiling registers and 1 Return downstairs and 6 floor registers upstairs. So what I understand from your video, I should have another Return installed upstairs in the hall, 1 Return for each ton, and/or 1 return in each bedroom. Please advise. Thank you.

    This is a hot topic for sure!😂 I have a 1” filter and I change it a lot since I live in an area with high wind and lots of dust. I’ve researched the topic and found so many different opinions about 1” (14x30ish?)filters. I’m just doing what our tech recommended which was no higher than an 11 filter for the one air intake in the hallway. Hopefully this unit will out live me and I will never have to deal with HVAC replacement again.😬
