Valley View Mall, Dallas, TX 09/10/1995
Просмотров 34 тыс.3 года назад
This video shows the Valley View Mall in Dallas as it looked in its heyday in the mid-1990's. The video was shot on a standard 8mm video camera mounted on a Steadicam JR (if anyone even remembers that gadget!) Definitely not hi-definition but at least it gives you a glimpse of the mall from back then.

Norton Air Force Base 2008

This is archival footage of Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, California as it was in Summer 2008. I mounted my video camera (a Sony DCR-TRV340 Digital video camera) on a tripod and set it up in the passenger side of my car and drove around the base filming stuff. It's still standard definition shot at 4:3 aspect ratio. So for those of you who were stationed there this ought to be a trip...

Im surprised by how steady that camera is for 1995!
@@xthe.angels.h0rnsx582 Hi! Yes, at that time I owned a gadget called the Steadicam JR. There’s probably info about it on the internet. It was designed for the then-small camcorders in existence like the standard 8mm or Hi-8 camcorders. Getting it balanced was kind of tough for me and a lot of my footage suffered from a rolling motion unfortunately. But all in all it gave me some pretty good stabilized footage that beat the ol’ hand-held look that was prevalent back then.
Is this the oldest view before it got shut dowb
Anatomically modern humans have existed for approximately 300,000 years. Recorded history accounts for roughly 1.6% of this time.
going to future 6 years and wait under 2 skyscraper in new york=)
This is amazing. I never went to this mall but remember malls being like this in my childhood. What I love about your video is you shot this in the same style that many mall RUclipsrs do now, keeping the camera steady and facing forward & just walking through the mall and looking in some stores. I'm so used to seeing empty abandoned stores or places with minimal decoration when seeing this kind of filming, but being able to instead see densely decorated stores, and the food court full of tables and chairs, all while the mall is slightly empty at the same time gives it an extremely surreal feeling. You were way ahead of your time. Also fuck yeah Allen.
Right across from that Camelot store was an Aladdin’s Castle Arcade. I was the manager until I believe late 93 before I moved over to the newly built larger Aladdin’s Castle at the Irving Mall. Was there until 95. Great video and thanks for the trip down memory lane.
some say alans still standing on the escalator... for archival purposes
Still a superb aircraft widowmaker
I loved the AMC Theater at the top of the mall overlooking that big open area.
who khew this would become a big horror movie 25 years later...
Now this is the oldest view.
do you have any info about the el fenix like pictures of it or anything
It's so weird to see it without the AMC, I'm used to seeing the unique staggered escalators surrounding the elevator clock tower thing.
YEAH IKR!
Alan was so annoyed at the time
Great video . I was there. The SR71 was overstressed on this demonstration, and was flown subsonic back to the US never to fly again.
Now it’s Willowbend Mall dead.
I was there June 1981 to June 82. Lived on a daily farm off the end of the runway.
Went TDY there for two weeks with my Security Police reserve squadron. I remember the smog in the mountains. I do remember the flight line. After our shift was done we went to turn in our weapons. You made sure you cleared your rifle then fired it in a barrel to make sure you removed all the ammo. Some places they would paint the top round to make sure you didn't lose one. I cleared my rifle and fired it, just a click and was good to go. A Tsgt after me put his rifle in the barrel and bam he left a round in. Boy I will never forget how many people came running. It was a great base.
There is no Rolling giant in 1995 Rolling giant only 2012
There is no ( Four Escalator ) only ( Two Escalator ) with out no AMC MOVIE THEATERS
Where is AMC MOVIE THEATERS
AMC showed up like 2007 or something not 1995
@@VoidSillyFilms no it's only 2004
That’s awesome 😎 thanks for sharing this great memories I’m gone miss this mall it got me thru some hard times & days thanks 🫡
This was 5 days before I was born. Time really does fly.
Dude was vlogging before it was even a thing
My first military assignment beginning in May 1970. Subsequent NAFB assignments included the 63rd Transp Sqdn, 63rd Civil Engineering, HQ Aerospace Audiovisual Service (later Combat Camera) and finally, from 1977-1981, the USAF Clinic. Great base, great memories. Common 1st & 2nd stage smog alerts, but often crystal clear in winter...
If you go up that embankment on the south end of the commissary, you can actually look into the big window down into the old commissary it. I'm not sure what's in there now but they had boats stored inside for the longest time. The BX area did see some activity for a short time, but I believe they just couldn't generate enough sales for the business to stay open. You didn't go by the terminal behind the commissary. At some point they blocked you from going that way from the commissary, but you could double back and get to it. It wasn't running yet when you visited, but there is the small Norton AFB museum on the north side of the NCO club which eventually became the offices for the Inland Valley Development Agency. Also, San Manuel Indians bought the Air Combat building to store their artifacts. Something about the building being secure enough for storing top secret aerial footage originally... ;) However, that building too aged and they eventually moved out of it and it was torn down in 2018. Incidentally, they have had air shows under different organizers at different times over the years, but you had to pay to go in. March ARB still does air shows, but only every 2 years.
Mattel warehouse had a little store section that had a revolving selection of toys actually for sale. They even had a loyalty program too. Sadly, they shut down the Mattel Stores some years later.
if you guys are wondering why the giant isn't in the footage, it wasen't made yet until 2012
One of my favorite mall. Why will they mess up this mall?
this is as close to the time I was walking there with my friend as you can get. Last time I was there was 97-99. Walking in my jncos and looking at the yomega yo yo stands XD
THE ROLLING GIANT AHHHHH AHA
oh my god
he is restless and moving about
Why did malls look better in the 90s??
I grew up there, and it is not smog you are looking at - that is plain old ordinary haze. The Indians called the area the "Valley of the Smoke." Col. Washington surveyed the valley all the way to the Ocean by lighting a bonfire on the mountains so he do his work at night because of the hazy conditions during the daylight hours. Smog is an orange color and has a bad odor - you would know smog straight off if you had ever encountered it...
the giant... beware,,...
he wasnt made until 2012 (i think)
@@jonathanpermutationthe rolling giant has always existed. He was there when the earth formed, he was there when the pyramids were built, and now he's in a mall miles underground
@@tooneysailor i know this is satire but youre wrong, he was made for the parade of giants, which happened in 2012
Crazy how he said it was one of the better malls, and now, less than 30 years later, it’s completely gone!
anyone else here cuz of the oldest view
Amazing time capsule!
Should never of been retired, especially today, it would still be very capable with upgrades, awesome Aircraft 👌 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Here after watching Kane's and zeroxlulu's video's respectively. Camelot music reminds me of my 1st part-time job. Working at a record store in 1988 or 89.. Memories of the best job ever!
The lore thickens
no way guys the made the mall from the oldest view real!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /j
-_-
Uff referencia
This brings me back to the relatively happy times of the mid-90s. No smartphones, but in most other ways, it was better. I miss that era.
