Thank you! The rich know quite about this, but I find that the middle class is obsessed with paying off housing debt - even if it's at an interest rate of 3%. Not necessarily a bad thing - but I like to offer another perspective in case it serves them.

@@dylanbly3468 increasing in value is one thing. But over what period of time? Will the property be cash flow positive? Will folks be able to evict non paying tenants? Will owners be free to charge market rent or will they deal with rent control? What impact will prop 33 have? For my hard earned money, there are far too many risks in this state. I’m an investor not a gambler and I go where I don’t have to fear an endless barrage of crazy laws impeding my ability to make money. To each their own. But I have no desire to deal with all of CA’s nonsense when it’s easier and more profitable and less risky to buy in TX, IN, AL, KS, etc

Congrats on owning your home outright! That's a great accomplishment. Those expenses can be annoying for sure. For some people it's still worth owning their home - just depends on their goals. If their goals involve not having to trade their time for money in their 30s, 40s and 50s, homeownership may not be for them.
