A standard dust shoe probably has higher peak performance but prefer something that is less in the way and easier to use. I designed this for a 65mm Spindel. here are the free 3D print files www.thingiverse.com/thing:5971728

Building an Oak Hanging Chair

I wanted a hanging chair that makes me forget about all my problems when i lay in it and so I built one. It was inspired by seashells. There was so much that I learned with this project like for example steambending. Music: 1. Synthony performs Opus by Eric Prydz with Auckland Symphony Orchestra 2. Designing a wooden bicycle frame Mk4
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.2 года назад
About a year ago two friends and I started working on a wooden bicycle frame and this video summarises the process so far. There's still a long road ahead but I am convinced it will continue to be an incredible journey. thanks to you Cedric and Armin, without you two I probably would have never even dared to tackle this project.

Are you using a bandsaw to make those thin slices of wood or are you just using a handsaw? Been struggling to get my thin slices even.
Informative video, well done. The background "MUSIC" was a real irritation. I wonder why any video would use it. It just interferes with the purpose of the video. And the repetitive two or three notes compounded the problem.
@@retiredtom1654 thanks for the feedback
wowwww nice board
brilliant
Hello! Did you try putting carbon fiber between the sandwich layers? Possibly it would give the wood a lot of rigidity in all directions of wobble. Thank you for sharing your experience.
@@txemovil1636It would for sure be a massive improvement but we don't do it for the sake of sustainability 😅.
How do you know when your done sanding?
Can you explain what the minimal parts to print would be for a size 7.5 ring? Also, do you know the size of the screws you used to hold the arms? Thanks for this great resource!
Oh, an alternative to clipping the plywood could be to sandwhich a sheet of metal between the wood, I've seen others do that for plywood projects to give it additional rigidity But then you get into the problem of using metal lol
I’m intrigued to know what you did with the Ridged stacking toolboxes and if that had something to do with the solar panels? A very nice build that must be so inspiring for creativity and building.
I actually built myself a power station with a battery in the ridged tool box. But a year after I bought a car and put some of the electronics in there as well as the solar panel. Now I just use the boxes for transporting tools like intended.
Hello! First of all, congratulations on the project. I wanted to ask if you see these paintings or sell the plans? Or share them freely? Thank you
The project started with that intention in mind but by now the design got too complex. People would need to weld stainless steel and be very precise with the wooden connections, so I'm aiming to sell the frames locally. But we will continue to share our progress online for others to benefit from :D
It doesn't matter that you have to weld. I really liked the geometry and I find it more difficult to make plans than to weld. I'm not good with computers at all. That's why I was asking about the plans. I would love to make one with my own hands. Thank you
@@txemovil1636 i'll keep that feedback in mind moving forward 👍
Hey love the video could you please link your lathe. I would love to get a good starter one.
Yea same! i have a mini lathe i make wands on but i cant always use it for space reasons. I want to get a micro lathe for rings
Hi thanks so much for the videos am with the coment before have no 3d printer but would love to have a set for my mini lathe .
You were the vid I needed all this time, and I'm glad I found you. I use belt straps to hold my mini lathe down, and as for attaching stock, what do you use in the collet?
Hi would would you print a sale these as I don’t have a 3d printer but would love a set off these thanks
Cool bike mate ! I'm asking myself why did you not want to make the vertical axis ( seat tube ) in wood ?
Well the top section needs to be a metal tube in order for the seat tube to slide in. So the only way we see to do that is "surround " a metal tube in wood. It feels unesseary and adds a lot to the weight. That being said it forces you to make the metal to wood connection on the top and bottom of the seat post tube very strong to not lack stiffness. Now on our mk7.5 we finally achieved a really nice connection. I'm surprised that no other wooden bike frame we found online ditches the wood surrounding the seat tube.
Ciao posso chiederti con cosa hai trattato gli anelli alla fine? hai usato qualche olio?
Hi, do you sell this products ? Interested in buying a couple
What is the name of this blue wood?
Its a blue dyed kind of plywood. It doesn't have a name

Nice and Short Video, the Idea is also Great ! I try to do something Similar but instead of Triangles, I would like to change it to pentagons (wood plates) and a biger Size. To get a Dodecahedron for a Cat Bed =D Maybe you could try to Design a Connector ;) Keep up the good work!
Question when doing this is repainting necessary after use? How often do you paint?is there chipping?
only on the edges where my skis sometimes scrape on one another is the paint being damaged over time. the rest lasts a really long time 5 years at least I see.
awsome
Isn't it possible to build something like that just with permanent magnets? What exactly does this coil circuit thingy do? Looks absolutely unreal btw haha! :)
It's 4 electro magnets that are actively adjusted in strength so that the permanent magnet puck is balanced on top so it's quite sophisticated kind of like a Quadrocopter but with magnets.
Cooles wooden Bike! 👍👌
Awesome work!!! I've made some Kalimbas as well!! I love it!!!
Can you upload the STEP files as well?
Thank you so much for the files! Wanted to check quick on printing of them, do you have a recommended infill % and material?
i'd print them as solid as you can since they are tbig but you wan them to be strong
That music at the end was pretty nice. How do your tools adjust for concentricity?
I haven't had issues with the center being off too far yet. I don't see a simple solution for implementing such a function. When using sandpaper it's irrelevant but when cutting it's definitely needed to fix the spreading tool on both sides.
Please get a push stick--for the sake of your fingers. Despite that comment, nice work.
Awesome video👌, can i ask, how do you cut these wooden plates?
Very useful models! Amazing design! Can you say something about the recommended printing materials? Maybe some recommendations for efficient printing?
i wouldn't use a french cleat system to hold high traffic devices like these. someone WILL bump that while trying to dispense something. and it WILL fall (or at least rattle upwards)
Fair point. I thought of other solutions but wasn't able to come up with a sleak alternative so far. For myself it did work great up until now though. The weight when food is inside is really high so no chance to rattle it accidentally. An advantage of the French cleat is also that you can take it off easily which I do very often. Every time you want to refill it you need to take it off (unless you use the lids). Maybe there's a nice solution to lock them in place? Personally I am actually mostly worried about the French cleat solution because of it's very long term strength. Once PLA gets brittle after many years and you have heavy glass filled to the brim with rice, maybe it will fail.
You don’t need a primer before the paint?
It would certainly be the ideal thing to do but I find that it lasts decently long without this extra step.
Do you have a link of the wooden boards where you bought yours? I only ever find boring furniture colors. Thanks Daniel
have you tried acrylic paints instead of spray cans? Like acrylic paint pens to draw on them? I'm considering doing: sanding -> plastic primer -> acrylic paint -> clear coat
Did you do it and how was the results
Hello, please tell me where you get the thin wooden boards from ? Greetings from Germany
Such nach funieren. Gibt es in sehr dünn bis zu 3-4 mm ca
@@makermind2050 Do you have a link to where you bought yours? I only ever find boring furniture colors.
Well done. A great idea and clearly demonstrated. Not a criticism, but those gaps when closed would bug me if I made this. You did all the right things for precision: jig, a drill press, no sign of accumulated dust in the jig. Any idea how that variability snuck in?
Is it possible to contact you somewhere?

Where can i get the blue colored wood sir?
I bought it as a knife handle blank from AliExpress. Can be quite tricky to find tho.
