Scriabin - TOP 15 PIANO WORKS (Third Period : Op.57 - Op.74)
Purely subjective rankings of Scriabin’s pieces from his third and finale creative period, generally defined between op.57 and Op.74. From then on, Scriabin developed a totally personal harmonic system, based on octophonic modes, as well as the so-called “mystic chord”, built in fourth and creating colors of a whole-tone scale with a leading tone. The harmonies have no more functions, and the music can be claimed atonal, although Scriabin still seem to axes his pieces each time around a defined note. Musical coherence is assured by motivic and harmonic repetitions. The writing style get more and more extreme : impossible note (D above the piano in Sonata No.6), extreme polyphony (up to fi...

Scriabin - TOP 35 PIANO WORKS (Second Period : Op.29 - Op.56)
Просмотров 37128 дней назад
Purely subjective rankings of Scriabin’s pieces from his second creative period, generally defined between op.29 and Op.56. His music here could be summarized as “Post-romantic”, expanding the limits of romantic harmony and slowly shifting to a modern new language. Extreme-chromaticism, chords extensions (up to 13th), abstract polyrhythms, voicing in fourth, long appogiaturas … Above all, the o...

Purely subjective rankings of Scriabin’s pieces from his first creative period, generally defined between op.1 and Op.28. Where is my Op. 13 No. 1 WHERE
yay
No second piano sonata? Arguably one of his top 3 early piano works alongside the concerto and fantaisie (or third sonata)
@@manzoh2248 The beauty reached in the overall colors of this sonata are to die for. But as a whole, I feel it's not effective and memorable as the others sonatas. The first movement is too elongated, and the second lacks a real build-up and reach for climax. I recognize the beauty of this piece but it really does not stick with me as the others (well, it's all subjective ! )
@@ulyssebelette.remars I don't really agree, though I can understand the criticism for the second movement having an unclear climax. That being said, I think it's pretty much unarguable that it's better than the WoO Fugue that you put in the video, and a number of other pieces which is why I was confused.
My top 3 would be : 1 : 6xth sonata 2 : Prometheus 3 : Vers la flamme
@@alexs1504 6th sonata used to be my favorite for years !
No Allegro de Concert? Imo his best theme is from that piece.
@@yanivhristoforov Despite its beauty and sence of dramatism, I feel it's still a bit too ankward and showy, just like the Allegro Op.4. The Fantaisie is more succesfull in this late romantic style
Salute. The first music is incredible in the way it just becomes meditative. He probably made these so others can also learn.
Where's op 28 fantasy? It's his grates piece
7:00 !
Op 25 no 1 has an incredible b section
whose recording was it for poeme satanique
Margulis. The articulation and phrasing is wonderful
Can some create time stamps
I’m simple - see Op. 15 No. 3 in the thumbnail, I click
Besides the Sonatas, probably his most charming piece of the early works !
Op. 10 No. 1 plays twice
Indeed, thanks for noticing. It supposed to be the second playing, at 5:25, sorry
Somehow Prometheus isn’t on the list. It’s no 1.
I didn't include the orchestral pieces in those lists, except the piano concerto. Prometheus is a gem on his own, but i found it too absurd to compare less than a minute prelude with huge extended orchestral piece. If I had too chose, it would be number No.3 !
