A DRUMMERS 30 YEAR CHALLENGE
This is a test of sorts for me. Can I re-learn a song I played 30 years ago from a style of music I haven't played in as long a time? Let's find out!

This is a short edit (sample) from a longer length promotional video for my project titled Jazz Now! LIVE. The intent of this video is mainly for agency use and EPK material for bookings, however, it is indicative of the Post Bop material I prefer to play at this time. John Perrine (Drums) Scot Miller (Guitar) Aaron Shaul (Bass) Steve Abrams (Piano)

Israel & New Breed is the best "Worship" band I have ever seen. The musicianship is sublime, and the drummer during this time period was Chris Coleman, first place winner of the Guitar Center Drum-Off competition finals. The song moves in and out of R&B and latin/salsa style grooves throughout. There's a strange suspended time bar during the second verse thats almost impossible to count. You ju...

Outstanding, just nutz!!!!!😎
Can you imagine that stamina? come on? Let’s be real
Hey fellas, that’s like 284 BPM’s
You certainly nailed it with such fluid playing Bravo.
Bad ass man great job
I never saw Simon Phillips do this song. Only Vinnie at Ronnie Scott's. This cover was incredible.
EXCELLENT!!!
I remember when this song was first released. Blown away by Simon Phillips's technique, I was determined to figure it out. Took me a few days to tear it apart, but I finally figured it out --Though I cannot say that I ever did it quite as cleanly as you, John. _Magnificent_ job. That's just beautiful stuff.
Do I smell a possible reunion?
I’m ready
WOW!!!!
Epic!
I got that cassette !!
I used to come to SS shows. It was always so fun to watch you guys.
Hi Rick!
I remember that song from a good friend of mine who used to play with you and you can still play it flawlessly. His name is John M from Cupertino
I'm diggin' it! Wrathchild America meets Ugly Kid Joe
Bravo
Note for Note! Crazy!
This 5 minute departure into nirvana might be my all time favorite RUclips music video. I’m a guitarist, a wanna be drummer and this sets me free. That John took the time learning every nuance is incredible, it makes me appreciate the album and particularly this song even more than initially. What Beck does is sensational. What Phillips does is stupendous and John has captured the drumming and true emotion.
I was here for a case ...Wow, amazing playing! Awesome drum cover!
AWESOME!!
I watched the Simon Phillips video right before this one and I honestly can't say which version I think is best. Amazing job on what has to be one of the hardest songs to play for a drummer. Bravo!!
Killin it bro!
Thank you!
Awesome! You have to be a pro to play this. Good job!
R.I.P. The Great Jeff Beck
Thanks a lot!
smoking ! Simon is in my top 2 of all time tasteful great tunings and thunderous ,I saw the there and back tour wow ! a highlight in live music foe still ,saw 2 sets in a row at palladium NYC i also love the way the drums are up on the mix on that album it's a little different when jan hammer plays the song lol but his writing and keys playing masterful more then makes up for it and it's cool drumming in an in the pocket way. nice job !!
Phenomenal drumming! I can play this groove . . . but I've never gotten through it w/o messing it up somewhere along the way. You nailed every one of those fills - perfection! Maybe one day I'll get it down. Awesome drumming man!!
Thanks for checking it out!
Wow I didn’t think anyone could play this as good as SP. Awesome job man!
Hey, thanks!
Nailed it! Well done, mate! This piece turned me onto Simon Phillips back in the day and you did it brilliantly. I can only imagine that it's quite the workout.
Thanks for listening

@@dogchowperrine i watched for the second time, you make it look so easy, and yet, this is a very complex drumming cover. Congrats again.
