No Offence to Anyone that Likes XDEFIANT But For Me Its Not Great. To Many Issues with the Game and a Lack of Polish. Yes its Free But just Because a Game is Free Does Not Automatically Make it Good. Yes Fun can be Had with this Game But for How Long. For Me it Got Stale Very Quickly. Maybe in the Future when they Update it and Add More Content, Better Maps and Modes, More Weapons and Weapon Balance, More Factions and Faction Balance, TTK and Hit Reg Improvements, Improved Net Code, Plenty to Improve on Which i Imagine will Not Happen. If the Game Does Not Improve in Short Time it Will Drop Off. All it will Take is Another FPS Game to Release that's Slightly More Engaging to Kill this Game Off. Dont get me Wrong this Game has Potential But Sadly that Potential is Yet to Be Realised or Shown In-Game ( Poorly Executed ).

Ah Elite, the game that out of all the space sims had it all and had it first. It was not the most complex, but that kept the core gameplay simple and solid. Its galaxy had, functionaly, very little diversity. But those kinds of things can be the canvas of emergent gameplay in the hands of players with a stake to claim. But, of course, Frontier's dev team is basically filled with nothing but the best artists and designers and the worst gameplay designers. At this point they have declared their long lasting love to grind walls and progress bars that would make a mobile game blush. Hells, even as all of their remaining effort centers on the thargoids, read upon any of the communities holding that effort together and you will find nothing but players BEGGING to participate, but turned away by the brutal and needless grind to get to even attempt such activities. Even in games based on horrendous grind, like destiny for example, one may access a good chunk of end game activities relatively early on. With team support of course. But in elite? You are in an MMO that tries its best to restrict player co-operation, in a living galaxy that actively dissuades engaging with it, and the few instances where actually having an impacts is possible, the game will try to kneecap you are every turn. To the point where nearly every single means of having acceptable progress is through any exploits the devs have not patched.

About halfway done with the video and I think that’s where I’m gonna stop. I hope you didn’t buy this game because it just sounds like it’s not for you, and that’s ok. If you want to understand why me and many others love this game so much I recommend you watch so other reviews. I do recommend fire emblem three houses if you want to get into SRPGs.

I’m curious about how many tactics games you actually played because you don’t directly control your units in most of them.

I think you entirely missed the point of the game. The Tactics system can lead to extremely complex and creative builds that (on higher difficulty) are necessary to even beat the game. The idea that this game is lacking in depth is baffling because I’ve spent more time build optimizing than I probably have on the maps themselves.

Have you played Fire Emblem games before, or Advance Wars or Shining Force? This game is mostly inspired by the game series called "Ogre Battle" but also utilizes newer features from the Fire Emblem series. Controlling every single character's attack in each battle, in my opinion, didn't really become popular until Final Fantasy Tactics. If you don't like the genre that's okay. Now you know :P

So from what i gather from reading the video description and comments that you havent played a squad based tactics game before this is how that style of tactics game works you dont control the individuals but the squad

Im findinf this game very fun, and i think the main fun part about it is being able to try different strategies and comps, optimizing and building your units. You get to just kinda barrel through the start like in most rpgs since there isnt too much enemy variety nd most of em just hit you then wait for your turn. But then later you start running into more things that can screw your teams over, like flyers who can block arrows, enemies start actually using their overworld skills, they start throwing more debuffers or start comboing together more. The fun is in trying to make teams to be as effective against everything as possible, especially since u cant just switch em out on the fly before you fight, and once u encounter em, u have to fight. While im not totally done with the game yet, i also really like the characters, story, and am enjoying running around to try to optimize my units as much as possible

I honestly thought this video was a joke, it seems like you barely took a single step of the starting line yet review the whole of the game from its tutorial. If the gameplay is not your thing I can understand since it sounds like your more into action oriented games, but I would suggest you take the time to watch multiple youtube reviews of the game. I hope you didn't waste your money on this since you didn't like it, but if you did I wish you'd give the game an actual fair try.

I'm going to be extremely generous and assume either you're unfamiliar with the genre or, alternatively, you're more familiar with more modern takes on the genre. Which is fine. Not every game is for everyone. But writing the game off entirely either because you don't understand it or you don't appreciate the way it plays is, frankly, childish. As others have already said, you do not have direct control over your units in combat. However, you do directly control what your units will do in combat. You can change the order of their move set and modify under what conditions certain moves will activate. Equipment can add skills or modify existing ones, and it requires a lot of digging and experimentation. This doesn't even take into consideration the various activities required to bolster your units compatibility, rebuilding towns for resources, exploring the map or the gorgeous graphics and well written and well acted dialogue and story. Given your other videos seem to focus on FPS fair, I'm going to assume this is ourside your usual wheelhouse. Good on your for trying something different, I guess, but maybe just stick to...ugh...Redfall. Seems like that's more your speed.
