I don't usually fish with soft plastics... not that I don't believe in them; just haven't had the results yet. Thought I would give them another try. Some days you win... others you lose. Australian Salmon has a bad wrap... but if treated correctly it is delicious and juicy. Proper preparation is key. Too many people bag out this sustainable, readily available fish. Most of them haven't taken the time to prepare it correctly. This is just my preferred way of cooking Aussie Salmon, there are many ways. Fun session fishing for Silver Trevally. Lost a good dinner plate size one and had a nice double hook up - even if the gopro battery died for that one. A little windy but incredible weather for winter! Beautiful weather Sunday... so why not spend the whole day on the water! The plan was to catch some snapper and blue swimmer crabs. Threw a few fish back but ended up with a good variety for a few dinners. A few whales were around, good to see them passing through. When it's glass out there, time can really get away from you... next minute, 7 hours gone! That big snapper is still out there...

There have been some large schools of mac tuna around Windang Island, so I set out with this target. But the strong easterly would have made for a very uncomfortable session, so instead I tucked in behind the Five Islands. I was floating a pilchard and jigging the bottom to see what was around. At first, pulled up a Sergeant Baker A.K.A. Dragon Snapper. Then... monster squid! The first one pull...

Set out late in the day on a last minute fishing trip but couldn't get any decent bait on the way to the ramp. Settled for a bag of prawns and had a single pilchard left over. Caught some bait but it was only bringing in scorpion fish, so I jetted out to the FADS and landed a nice Mahi Mahi. The first two were caught on a lure. Awesome mate. Even if the fishing wasn’t on fire this time. We had a similar experience. Burnt a bit more fuel than you though going out to the shelf. How good were those dolphins !

@@timslifeonthecoast ahh only around 90 mins. Took a while longer to get back though when the conditions worsened.

@@thesaltybadger yep that’s me and I thought so, told my kids “look that’s my famous hairdresser catching fish” haha. I’m usually on the boat in the lake or ski in the ocean once or twice a week. Eventually planning to upgrade it to something that handles bad weather but for now does the job. The ski is a weapon for super convenient one person ocean fishing.

Hello how reliable is it. I do want one the same year ?
No issues so far 5 years on.
As a fellow boat owner, couple quick things. Carry a spare battery or one of those portable power boosters with jumper cables very helpful. Grab a decent pair of polarized sunglasses. They really help in shallow water and you'll see the "if its brown its ground" easier. A good coverage straw or bush hat for sun and one for the little guy.
Thanks, good tips! Depth wasn't an issue, I know these water ways well and have sounders on all vessels. The issue in the end was jammed/bent starter motor washer and failed coil. Didn't have a spare washer or coil with me unfortunately :)
@@timslifeonthecoast when thing just don't want to run they'll find a way. Glad it wasn't expensive to fix.
@@stunick1573 ended up replacing the motor, but only because I found the same motor in immaculate condition for dirt cheap!
You made that repower look easy. Was it the same model & year, just a different unit?
Couple years newer, luckily was able to use the same controls. Pretty straight forward, very lucky to come across virtually the same motor that day. The following arvo, had it in the garage ready to go!

Main crossmember, luckily the angle allowed for it, not a chance if you were towing on flat ground.

How did you manage to recover from the front of the vehicle? What did you loop it over?
Because of the angle (top of a hill, vehicle infront pull down) was able to get it around the front crossmember without it touching the front bar.

Hey mate, great vid! I’m looking at getting the Musso as the reviews in the last couple of years have been fantastic. I’d likely get it lifted with some AT’s, just wondering how this performs generally off-road for hill climbing and light rock crawling. The alternative would be a second hand triton (2013ish model) with around 60-70k kms.

Onthemark yeah that’s mine. Second ssanyong, wife has a korando, after sales is actually better than any other car I’ve owned. Only issue so far, headliner is a little noisy in summer. Australian sun expands/contracts the material used in the headliner and it makes a slight cracking sound over bumps. But I’m being pedantic, otherwise, it’s like a $100k car. Previously owned a Porsche Cayenne.
