We finally say CU to the NT and make our way towards the East Coast!
We stay at some cool little FREE CAMPS along the way, throw in a couple campfire cookups and lots of exploring (and a lot of driving!) As boring as some of the driving days were, we had a ball seeing what this stretch of highway had to offer! See ya on the EAST COAST!

Cheers mate, just a short and sweet one this week! Basically just underwhelmed by the springs a bit! They were doing some works up the creek so it was very brown and murky, and even when we went back there were just people everywhere, it was packed! Much preferred Bitter Springs! 👍

Burn out is real. I backpacked the world with my wife for 5 years. So many times we became jaded, annoyed, frustrated, sick. Our fall back was to always remind ourselves....what is the alternative? Go back to our lives in Australia and work 6 days a week wishing we were backpacking the world? That was reality jolt we needed. Life on the road is much more fun and exhilarating than the alternative no matter what your headspace at the time.
Cheers for sharing mate! Definitely gotta remind ourselves what else we'd be stuck doing if we weren't travelling! Gotta make the most of every day 😊

The firepit was actually the farm's haha but yes they are super cool. The stand is our Oz Braai grill, awesome to cook on bigger fires or chuck our hot stuff on when we've had smaller fires like this 😊

We had the same problem in Darwin and NT. Got sick and hated it. We left NT and went to QLD and got our vibe back. That was 12 months ago and are still travelling now. Hang in there

How are you getting connectivity when just in your car. Do you take the starlink or did you have reception where you were.
We only set up the Starlink when at camp, in the car we only use our mobile data if there's signal. Have seen some pretty cool 12V Starlink conversions going around though!

We were there about a week before you guys got to 14 mile and was so perfect there. The weather was spot on, no wind just perfect. We were on site 21, but your spot looks good. Anyway safe travels.

Cheela Plains station stay is a nice stop if you are going to Karajini. You can stay at the station of they have their own gorges at another campground 20k from the station and they will give you a key to get in there. If you go site 53 is the best out at their gorges. Nice as out there.

Great episode guys. Travelling Australia is becoming a rich persons sport by the looks. Especially with kids in tow. The other side of the coin is that you're experiencing some amazing places.
Cheers mate! It is what you make it I guess. We've seen all different types of setups with all different types of budgets. Price of living everywhere is pretty crazy atm, so we'd honestly be spending that much for 3 weeks of food back home too!

If all else fails, everyone's willing to give you a hand out here! Few lessons learnt here! Yep 100% worth it! It's completely unseasonable and one day it could be bad, and then fine the next. We just wing it and hope for the best! 😁
If you haven’t already, grab the Weber fry pan or casserole dish. Soooo much better than the flat plate and more versatile. We don’t use the flat plate any more

It’s great to see an SA family on RUclips too 👏 We did our first ‘long trip’ from SA to Qld in March with a 3 yr old, we got to the Gold Coast in 4 days but also realised we really needed to slow down on the way home as it was a lot on everyone. Changed up our plans and it was much more pleasant! Thanks for sharing your adventures!

I noticed in a previous episode you had a mirror mount on your reversing mirror for towing the van. Is it a safety Dave and do you rate them instead of dash mount. Also what year and model Is your 300
The van didnt actually end up getting hooked up with a camera 🙄 but yes it is a safety dave, and actually dont mind where it's postioned on the rearview mirror mount as we dont use that mirror anyway since we cant see out the back of the car regardless The cruiser's a 2023 GXL mate, runs like a dream!
Can i ask what type and where did you get the clothes line from that you have hanging from the awning? TIA
Yeah mate, just a $30 retractable Sunfresh one from Bunnings... originally fixed our own permanent one on there but it collapsed after a few heavy loads haha but the bunnings one works well!
What was the town called where you stayed at the pub?
It was a small town called Watheroo, about an hour inland from Jurien Bay

Yep the east coast is just as bad. It cost us an extra $210 for 7 days on the Goldy and then we went to stay at a showground for $35 in Beenleigh and once we mentioned the kids it went up to $50... it's ridiculous! We spoke to another family that even got charged for a 2yo. Can't wait to get home to the Fleurieu peninsula and try and find a bit of land to start a hip camp and 100% won't be charging for kids.
