Have you looked at the snow pack from prior years? You are parroting a line. The problem isn't a mega drought, it's over use. Snow pack totals in the Colorado River basin have been at or above normal. The year 2022 was the greenest I've ever seen Colorado. When they were screaming the Colorado River had dried up, I was rafting at Grizzly Creek. Lake Granby was 10 ft above normal that feed the Colorado. That was August. Both the Gunnison and White River were above normal. Climate Change is a convenient device to blame mis management on. Fire? Climate Change. Building houses in known tornado tracks? Climate Change? Insurance companies have maps of things like that.

The Desert South West is always in drought. It usually has a couple to a few of years of high snow fall along with some robust Monsoon seasons to replenish reservoirs. But some where around 2005 they finally managed to use more water than the average low inflow. Now wether anyone wants to admit it and do something about it remains to be seen. John Wesley Powell warned all those years ago that the desert South West can't support a large human population. They ignored him and reassigned him somewhere else in the Government.

So while every other reservoir in the South West has gone up, Lake Mead is going down, despite huge releases from Lake Powell and other reservoirs. The eco nuts in control of The Hoover Dam are just flushing millions of gallons downstream every day. This water is not even all generating electricity. A lot is just bypassing the generation system. They have a court order from a woke left wing Judge allowing this idiotic dumping of valuable water. And no one is doing diddly about it. Ultimately this is about trying to prove that there is not enough water to raise beef. Because the Peta nuts are against it. And they have many powerful Hollywood friends.

What's never discussed is the migration of people living in the Southwest compared to 80 years ago. The demand for water has grown a ton due to this migration, yet it's always about climate change that is blamed for the reason the lake level at Lake Mead is down from the early 80's.

This is great news but it is natural for this to happen, It makes global warming a hard sale, I never bought into that in the first place.
