Dancers twirl as Joe (reeds) and Paul (vibes) Midiri, the twin standouts from the Mid-Atlantic region play with Craig Gildner's All Stars for the Potomac River Jazz Club's September concert. On the bandstand with Joe & Paul: Craig Gildner (pno/gtr), Tommy Cecil (bass), Greg Williams (dms). A soft interlude in a hard driving afternoon.

channeling Bennie Goodman's small groups, the Midiri Brothers - Joe & Paul - performed for the Potomac River Jazz Club 9/21/2024. Joe is the twin on reeds. Paul on hot vibes. Back them Craig Gildner's guy: Craig on guitar/piano, Tommy Cecil on bass, Greg Williams drums.

Opened one of the stages at the H Street Festival in NE DC. Video capture parts of two pieces, Bourbon Street Parade and Bill Bailey. On the gig were Dotty Westgate on keyboard/vocals, Bob Vetter trumpet/vocals, GReg Murphy on banjo, Wes Biles on bass, and Joel Albert on drums. Thanks to our deputy sound guy, Curtis, who made the video.

I sat in on washboard with Ms Doreen Ketchens (clarinet) and husband Lawrence (sousaphone) just in time for their final number of the day, their set closer "Saints" (as in when the saints come marching in). During my week at the Traditional Jazz Camp in New Orleans, I always try to sit in with the wonderful Doreen Ketchens (clarinet) and her husband Lawrence (sousaphone) for a tune or two most recently on the washboard. I've discovered that simple board is a crowd pleaser. My camp pal Bill Genson from near Toledo sauntered over to join on cornet. We did it on June 28, 2024.

Venues won’t buy and maintain one. This very expensive board is lightyears better than house instrument. But great observation
