(She/Her) I make and release bass music under the name Arlie Moore, and IDM as Metraxen. This channel is mostly to show off what I'm working on and share some of the things I've learned a long the way. If you have any questions or want to see a breakdown on how I made something just shoot me an email (ruby@cxsey.com) or message on discord (@rubyjcxsey)💖
Chorus-Ensemble: Device of the Day (Ableton)
Chorus-Ensemble is a great device for thickening up the stereo image of a sound without destroying the phase or sacrificing mono-compatibility. The vibrato mode can also be very useful for creating more tension and unease in a sound.
If you enjoyed the sounds I made today, I'd appreciate if you checked out my music here: linktr.ee/arliemoore ❤️

Channel EQ: Device of the Day (Ableton)
Просмотров 2982 часа назад
Channel EQ is pretty simple but has many use cases. It can do some very quick and easy tone shaping, and it can be a great device to put before a non-linear effect for more precise gain staging. Cabinet: Device of the Day (Ableton)
Просмотров 2537 часов назад
This device is exactly what it sounds like, a guitar cab simulation. It's parameters are extremely minimal, however this device is surprisingly versatile. It obviously shines when paired with an amp sim on a guitar recording, but it can also be used on synths to create interesting tones, used on drums to create tension during transitions, and can apparently be combined with a stereo chorus to m...
Beat Repeat: Device of the Day (Ableton)
Просмотров 1149 часов назад
The Beat Repeat device is a great way to add some glitch-y sound stutters to your drums or other percussion adjacent sounds. It's a pretty simple device, but it can have a massive effect on the groove and feel of the source sound. Check out my released music here: linktr.ee/arliemoore TIMESTAMPS 00:00 Intro 00:56 Overview 01:58 Layering 02:14 Variation 02:54 Outro
Auto Shift: Device of the Day (Ableton)
Просмотров 13612 часов назад
Auto-shift is a great alternative to the popular Auto-tune plugins that comes built-in to Ableton Live as of version 12. It can both be used to create that crispy "robotic" sound popular in hiphop and pop today, or for a smoother and more subtle pitch correction. It can also be used pretty heavy-handed for changing the key of mono-pitched vocals or samples. Check out my released music here: lin...
Auto Pan: Device of the Day (Ableton)

Auto pan is a pretty simple device, but it's great for adding movement and interest in the stereo image of your track. It can also be used with the phase turned all the way down to shape the entire rhythm of a sound. Auto Filter: Device of the Day (Ableton)
Просмотров 30016 часов назад
Auto filter is a great tool for adding interesting movement to your sounds. In the context of bass design I think it really shines when paired with a distortion right after. It can also be used to clean up some other sounds in the mix and further shape your sounds via the envelope controls. Amp: Device of the Day (Ableton)
Просмотров 55619 часов назад
Overall, amp is pretty sick for adding some insane crunch to any sound, and I think it pairs really well with Erosion or any other noise layering technique. This video is a part of a new series I'm starting where I'll go through each of Ableton's stock devices (and maybe cool M4L devices i find in the future), make a beat with it, and talk about some cool uses I found for it. This is partially ...

i love using this
Hey Ruby, your videos are sick. So helpful! 🙏🏼
Thanks! Glad you find them helpful ❤️
Thanks for sharing. Is it like an advanced EQ3?
It does seem like that when you look at the UI, but EQ Three actually works less like a typical eq and more like a frequency splitter with gain controls for each band. This gives EQ Three some wild phase offsets (may be desirable in some cases) that has the potential to mangle your sound a bit (especially if used in parallel). I’ll definitely explain this deeper once I get to making a video on EQ Three, but Channel EQ is definitely the better choice for simple tone shaping in my opinion.
I think I'm gonna chill on the daily uploads for now, thank you guys so much for all the support this week though. We passed 500 views on the amp video today which is sick! I'll either try to do uploads on monday, wednesday, and friday, or just try to do a weekly thing. Either way this Ableton device series is a huge undertaking but I've already had so much fun working on it. Also the demo I made for this one kind of slaps, I might try to turn it into a full track.
Move at your own pace friend. I wanted to leave a comment positivly encouraging you to continue!
That was an excellent presentation of auto pan. Thanks Ruby!
controll space!!!!!
thank you!!
i still dont think it worth it. i prolly would not be able to distinct in blind test. and even if i would it is still too miniscule and too niche to waste disk space and processing power
Are the data sizes of the stems also bigger? It could be like video bit-depth in color grading
Yes, the bit-depth also has an effect on the file size. I'm not super familiar with the technology behind color grading, but in the audio realm the bit-depth affects the amount of digits representing the amplitude in a sample. I exported a 4 minute test tone from Bitwig as .wavs to get some exact sizes. 16bit 44.1khz - 40.3mb 24bit 44.1khz - 60.5mb 16bit 96khz - 87.8mb 24bit 96khz - 131mb So it can for sure eat up a lot of storage, especially if you work in 24bit or even 32bit sometimes like me. If storage space is scarce and you still want to store higher resolution audio files, using FLAC is another option, it's still lossless but will have a much smaller file size due to compression (Bitwig spit out a 12.2mb file at 16bit 96k using the same test as earlier), the only downside is it may not work with older sampling hardware or things like CDJs. (macOS also doesn't have great FLAC support in it's built in software)
i was a clown and recorded my voice at instrument level, oop also i use bitwig now sorry
Nice video bruh bruh.
Project file pls
Absolutely great tip!
*production quality has entered the chat* (i fixed my audio issues and stopped being lazy with video editing)
Fantastic job! And you're 1000% correct - simple is best. Subbed.
Subbed. Just found your content, your songs are great man im surprised with the lack of streams.
Man it's great track! Really love it. Do You have soundcloud?
No soundcloud at the moment, but I have a playlist of some of my released music here: ruclips.net/p/PLdzJL8S6Pg7FEkMr3NXvP4KW_XuvYv8y5. I used to release music under a few different names so it got kind of hard managing so many soundcloud accounts but recently I think I'm refocusing on bass music under a new name that'll be making a soundcloud for pretty soon here.
Hey, I know it's been like a year (lol) but I did end up finishing this and just put it out with a mixtape to launch my bass music alias. You can find it here: soundcloud.com/arliemoorebass/24s-arlie-moore-bootleg?in=arliemoorebass/sets/prefix
Great tips! Thanks to yt for suggesting this
very useful and concisely explained. thank you
I've been producing for about a year, these are all so helpful! Glad the algorithm threw this on my feed, hope you make more vids like these :)
youtube algorithm is a blessing me once again <3. feel free to join my discord (in the video description) if you have any questions or want to see anything else i do.
My god ur amazing. Joining the discord rn
Love this video. Appreciate how you focused on this one specific thing, and explored it fully with us while explaining how, and why you are doing what you're doing. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to more awesome content from you!
Nice tip! Operator shouldn't be slept on 🥵
I learned this technique from a classmate who makes neuro bass and other dubstep stuff! Such a great one, and the extra variations you show are sick
Unfortunately it looks like you can't automate patcher controls in older versions of FL, the closest thing to what I'm using in this video for older versions would be automating the "volume" parameter of Fruity Balance. Just make sure your automation doesn't go above 80%, and 80% will be 0db and anything higher will be adding gain to your sidechain group.
