Trying the hybrid brew of Tetsu, though an iced version so I’m not totally following his recipe. Trying to see if by doing so could salvage this old beans… and so what is the verdict? Mixing it with the flavored sparkling water is still better. I’m itching to open a new bag…

They said coffee is a drug. I probably would agree months ago. Now, I drink it once in awhile only. In fact, my beans today is now 3 months old. Uhmmm… not as aromatic as I used to remember it. I don’t drink coffee as often as I used to anymore as I wanted to sleep well at night. But in some instances, I miss the smell and the feel of it. Making pour over coffee is a nice experience but espresso? Damn! Dialing it is such a hell and I can’t even drink it as is. I have not drank coffee for a week as I was not feeling well. So I’m quite excited to try a coffee tonic this morning. Excited enough to do second round when the first one was too fast. Sometimes, it’s nice to go through the “pain” of grinding manually (a warmup for upper body strength workout day… lols). Just glad that the sound is pleasing unlike other manual grinders. What made you choose the Flair 58 vs. a machine? You definitely didnt cut any corners with the rest of the set up! One small piece of advice as it looks like you're trying to get started....the video quality needs to be at least 1080p in 2024. Nothing fancy but it will improve these videos tenfold!
Flair 58 has low maintenance. Since I am not really a fan of espresso, I don’t want to invest on a machine that will also occupy too much space.

Dialing in is probably the most frustrating part. So regardless if it’s the Flair or any other espresso machine, it’s the same. Other than that, Flair is easy to use. Most importantly, less maintenance.

I just got a bambino a month ago as my first espresso machine and it was only pulling sour shots unless I got the darkest coffee. My flair 58 came in today and I dialed in 4 shots with a coffee that was sour beforehand and the 5th shot came out literally perfect. This lever machine is really good. At least I can use the bambino to steam milk still though 👍

What scale do you use for flair?
Not sure what brand this is. But looks similar to this : amzn.to/49LHNOp There are quite a few in amazon that can fit. Just look for dimension that is not higher than 100mm for both length and height.

Do you mind sharing your recipe? i saw you had 25g of coffee but i couldnt tell how much ice and how much hot water you used. Tanks in advance
Generally, 6g of coffee for every 100g of water. 40% of the 100g can be in the form of ice. But because there’s less water used to brew, I then add more beans or ground a little finer. So for this brew, here’s the recipe: Coffee beans at 25g (24g + 1 extra) Ice at 160g (though it’s ok to have more since the excess ice doesn’t melt right away if you use vacuum insulated tumbler like I do) Water at 240g Hope this helps.

Great video! Did you face stalling issues with df64v? Are you satisfied with the grinder?
At first use, stalling happens more often. In fact, it jammed on me once. But right now, it’s doing great. The taste also improved as you keep using it. Recommended RPM: Espresso - 1200 Pour over - 800 Hope this helps.

One quick note I thought it would be great to share Currently in youtube, the most viewed coffee vids are simply the really quick cuts, and different angles shorts. A 6 minute video from the same angle, and without cuts. could be hard to watch. even if it was the best brew, or the best setup, Anything else is great. Keep going.
Just want to say I really appreciate the fact that this didnt have a ton of cuts. Made it easier for me to interpret from the standpoint of someone trying to figure out how to use their new flair 58.
i think this is more relaxing. quick cuts can be annoying.
@@oscarthagrouch Some uncutted vids are really cool I agree, but they use different angles quite a lot. Example (putting the beans in the grinder, close up shot on the espresso, ...)

For pour over, between 21 to 23 normally. I just adjust depending on brew time, aiming for 2:30 to 3:00 minutes.
