This also happened to me once before. There were also red flags in my transaction as well but I wanted the deal for $2800 as well! Luckily I found a deal at $2900 and it worked out. My saving grace was PayPal goods and services.
FX3 is overpriced from the gate. Too many cameras on the market with great image quality like the Blackmagic 6K with great color science and you can buy 2 for the price of 1 FX3.
Mentioning PayPal is ALWAYS the first Red flag!
Oh man, so awesome to hear that, just did 2 months, I look forward to getting to the final boss like you did. Very admirable
Hope you bounce back man my whole just caught on fire this morning so there goes my ability to do rollers via mounted gimbal shots on the back of the bike
Cameron Duncan Stewart sounds like the name of an absolute true menace to society 😂
nice guy, I like your attitude
Before you buy anything used you have to test it to make sure it actually works...
Had this happen, paypal got my money back within two weeks.
Get it brother. Proud of you-
1 year sober and living in a bar city is like beating the final boss on expert mode
Congratulations! Keep on crushing it!
That's why I NEVER ship. Whether im buying or selling. For this exact reason. Never been scammed only doing local and in person. When what I want is out of state, I just chalk it up and stay local
it could be Me last week For a Sony a7siii On Facebook marketplace. 😅
just buy new next time, its pointless buying used to saved $1k
I saw on FX3 (NOT 30) for 1,800 in dallas body only. I almost desperately dropped nearly 2 grand without thinking but both my wife and I agreed even with local pickup i can get mugged lol
Sorry you had to go through this. I myself own a Camera selling group on Facebook and have sold multiple of them. DO NOT EVER DEAL WITHOUT DOING A VIDEO CALL. Also do video call while they are shipping at the courier. Camera groups are full of scammers these days.
Crazy how we see all the red flags sometimes in hindsight. I was scammed on a gig payment once. Bounced check scam. Hope you get your money back 🙏🏾
This is why I never purchase anything from Facebook that i can’t see and pick up in person.
Rookie mistake. Never, ever buy anything off of Facebook Marketplace without seeing it in person first. Never send any money before seeing the item. You always need to go and meet them in person and in public. I'm sorry that happened to you. Hopefully PayPal or your bank will refund your money.
Well said.. Yes, Paypal came in clutch and I was refunded. But then I went to FilmTools and spent 6k on a new Fx3, RS4Pro Gimbal and DJI Lidar kit.....so, yeah new gear!
oh, you have a super friendly, personable steez to ya, too. i like it
Appreciate that! Just trying to keep it real and have fun with it. Glad you’re enjoying the vibe!
Saw your channel from the FX3 video. How comes you was planning on buying an FX3 if you have a RED?
Hey, thanks for checking out my videos! I approach every project trying to find the right camera and lens per job. Yes I own a RED V-Raptor package but it’s not always the right camera for every job. For my upcoming shoot we are going to need/lean heavy on the dual native iso of the fx3 plus we are going to need to be very nimble. The Sony fx3 solves that problem for the upcoming job. Also, we would be renting an fx3 from another company if I didn’t own it. So knowing that we were going to rent the camera for at least 3 days, with additional guaranteed rental days coming up…I figured that my investment would be paid for with all those rentals. So any additional rentals after that then the Sony fx3 would make me money.
Man I feel terrible for you, I had a similar thing but the opposite way round, I sold and shipped my camera, all looked good, he did take a while to send me the money, so that was a red flag, but i was waiting for the money before shipping. Anyway, he sends the money and I ship it. He gets the camera and is now claiming it doesnt work and wants a refund. I shipped it in very safe and tight packaging, mustve been in 4 inches of bubble wrap on all sides and it fit snug in the box so I didn't know how that could happen. Unfortunately eBay forced me to issue a refund and to ask him to send it back, luckily I actually did get it back and it worked perfectly fine. I think he just got buyers remorse and wanted to give it back. I was super worried for a couple days though, as eBay forced the refund before I got it back so there was roughly a 48-72 hour wait between returning the money and then getting the camera back. The way he spoke sounded weird from the get go, looking back I should've declined the sale but I needed the money at the time.
Damn, that’s rough. Feels like no matter which side of the deal you're on, there’s always some risk. Glad you at least got the camera back in working order, but that whole waiting game had to be stressful. Definitely a lesson learned on both ends!
Yeah ive been scammed too. They even took paypal goods and services ..then just disappeared.. took me a month to get my money back from PayPal..fcking hate scammers
Man, that’s brutal. Glad you at least got your money back, but it’s crazy how long that process takes. Scammers ruin it for everyone. Hope you never have to deal with that again!
went through the same things. only inconvenience is waiting for the refund claim to go through
Yeah, that waiting period is the worst. Feels like forever when you’re just trying to get your money back. Glad it worked out for you in the end!
Your address though. Over Facebook. Nooo.
Rule number 1. Never send anything to Do with Facebook. Bruh. You live and learn. Sucks.
Yeah, lesson learned the hard way. Definitely not making that mistake again. Sucks, but you live and learn!
@@shotcutandcolored Bless my bro. I could hear in your voice, that you were Excited..That feeling of purchase.. Those Low Lives live for this.. Shame on them. I hope you were refunded..
I used grabyify to get a guy to click on a fake crypto link. I got his IP address. He was trying to sell a Sony a73, he said after work we can meet up but he wanted me to send him money to lock in to buy. His IP address was 500 miles away. I told him I knew his city and he took down the post and disappeared
Cool man!
really great work and breakdown man! love that creative challenge you had with no dialogue. You don't see a lot of projects like that.
I really enjoyed the challenge of telling a story without dialogue and think it made for a more powerful message!
Is this a bad place to ask anyone if they want to buy my Sony FX3 that I am selling on Facebook Marketplace right now😬😬
Haha, bold move! 😆 Just make sure to watch out for the scammers-learned that the hard way. Hope you get a legit buyer!
Man I feel you almost went through this in London 😭😭. I hope you get your money back from your bank though please send them this information
Man, it’s wild how common this is 😭. Luckily, paypal came through in my favor and refunded the money.
Everyone gets scammed at least once in their lifetime. I know I got scammed a few times lol
Yeah, feels like a messed-up rite of passage these days 😂. Definitely a lesson I won’t forget!
If this had been a really elaborate, sophisticated scam, I might have some empathy, but this is so obviously wrong in every way … you deserved to get ripped off.
Yeah, definitely a tough lesson, but I’m taking it as a learning experience. Hopefully, sharing this helps others avoid the same mistake!
i bought amira for 15K from Facebook and there was no problem - Facebook isn't the problem but i do WhatsApp video call every time and only from reliable filmmakers
That’s awesome! Sounds like you’ve got a solid system in place. Definitely a good call to do a video chat and stick with trusted sellers. Learned my lesson on that one!
When it comes to Facebook Market Place I only do face to face with cash.
I'll drive a few hours so I don't get ripped off.
That’s the way to do it! Nothing beats a safe, in-person deal with cash. Definitely learned that the hard way!
Face to face can be dangerous as well especially in Houston.
Saw a similar fx3 post on Facebook market place however once I reviewed the sellers page and saw only two pics I got suspicious.
Always trust your gut....unfortunately I did not.
Man it happens man we live and learn glad you showed this for others who don’t know about these actions out here don’t be ashamed of this you will make this money back money comes and goes but by showing this your educating the next generation or others to just slow down and really think about how you move your money.
Appreciate the kind words and perspective! You're absolutely right-money comes and goes, but the lessons we learn and share can make a real difference for others. I’m glad this can help someone else out there slow down and think things through. Thanks for the support!
@ No problem man
I saw that post on the FX3 Facebook group! Sorry that happened to you man. I buy and sell a lot of stuff on FB marketplace but ONLY in person. Hope you get the charge reversed
It took a few weeks but thankfully, PayPal has come in clutch for me.
So sorry to hear you got scammed man! I hope PayPal pulls through and gets you your money back.
It took a few weeks but Paypal has officially ruled in my favor.
This sucks-it’s a complete violation, no doubt about it. The scammer is 100% to blame for being a thief, but here’s the hard truth: you trusted, and that’s on you. The good news? Trust is a strength, not a weakness. Now it’s time to wise up, get smarter, and make sure this never happens again.
That wasn’t trust, it was gullibility.
Appreciate the perspective! Definitely taking this as a learning experience-trust is important, but so is being cautious. Won’t let it happen again!
I fell for one too! Similar story different camera group and different camera. This is truly the worst feeling. Specially towards the end when all the doubts start becoming red flags... it is the worst feeling. I made the HUGE MISTAKE of sending the payment via PayPal using the friends option not the business which would provide buyer protection. Guys be careful! TRUST EVERYONE but DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING! But hearing the reactions in the Sony groups SUCK! Canon EOSM group was a lot nicer! Not 1 comment was rude. Everyone was super respectful and teamed up to go after the scammer.
Thanks for the honest take-I completely agree. It’s a tough lesson, but trust is definitely something I value, even if it got me burned this time. You’re right, though-it’s all about wising up and making sure it doesn’t happen again. Appreciate the perspective!
Sorry this happened to you. I do all my "online" transactions in person and cash only. These scumbags prey on trusting people like yourself. Valuable lesson learned that you won't make again. Subbed to at least do you a solid for sharing your horror story.
Thanks for Subscribing and being on team anti-scumbags. It definitely stinks getting scammed. Many life lessons have been learned from this experience including the growth/support from YT.
Brother, let this be a lesson to you and everyone else! Stop buying equipment from personal sellers-you aren’t getting any form of guarantee. Always go to a legitimate store, like B&H Photo or Adorama, for your purchases. Even then, check the product carefully before leaving the store or accepting an item delivered by mail.
nice, what camera used in this reel ?
2800 is a 🚩 and Facebook is a 🚩
My situation would be like me swimming in Back Packer Rip at Bondi Beach...blind to any lifeguards telling me to swim where its safe.
Thanks for the shout out! You and the whole camera team crushed it and we could not have "done what we did" without you giving me the flexibility you gave me! Can't wait to work together again... soon!
Of course! It was such a pleasure collaborating with you-your vision and experience set a great tone for each day. Thank you so much for guiding me and sharing your wealth of knowledge. I’m so glad we could create something special, and I can’t wait for the next project! Let’s make it happen soon!
It’s French
I'm upset with Facebook. They should hiree and let me fix this. There could be a simple escrow service that's even profitable for FB - the dark web figured this out 10 years ago. :/ Sorry OP.
Things have been insanely bad on marketplace. I refuse to go there anymore for ANYTHING. I’ve seen handfuls of cameras that the prices seem “legit” then start reverse image searching and nada. Which is surprising to me. Unless I can meet them in a parking lot of a police station I just said no.
Until things change and scammers are caught and banned I feel like the safe move is to avoid the marketplace in total.
