Goat Barn Updates (after 1 week)
Просмотров 71Месяц назад
Sunday Goat Barn updates. After having our new farm members for a week, it's time to make some updates. Unlike when we bought our first set of chickens....we've learned not to run to the store and buy a bunch of stuff that just doesn't work. Today, using items left on the property or curb grabs, I've added windows, a small access door, built a hay loft, and recycled an old shopping cart into a ...

Building the Dome Base with Pallets-Part 5 In this video I work on securing the base which is plastic pallets 39" x 41", 42 in total to create a little over 21' platform or deck....when I'm done with it. I use 2x6x12's to create a frame around the pallets as the first step in keeping them in line and together. I also sink rebar into the corners for added stability. If you enjoyed my video or if...

Awesome 👏
Thanks
I watched your video. So creative and practical. I’ve been thinking about an outdoor sink. I’ve looked at the ones that are for sale. They are so expensive!! The ones that aren’t that expensive aren’t big enough. All the reviews talk about how cheap they are because of the plastic. I’m going to tackle this and make my own so it’s exactly what I want. I appreciate your video! I’m probably not going to burn mine because I don’t have a flame thrower but I’ll figure it out. Thank you 😊 for sharing your video and idea. As a single woman I’m learning everyday how to do projects and repairs I never thought I could. I love being able to do me!! I subscribed and I will continue to learn from you and your channel. Thanks 🙏 again 😊
Thank you 😊, and you can paint yours...or better yet let the kids paint and put their hand prints on it. That will make it a heirloom family piece.
I love the hardware cloth top! I might use that too.
You go ahead use it! Thanks for watching
That's nice..I love the door..
Thanks for watching 👀
Wow I didn’t know goats did that sweet 😊
Yezzz, you going down my rabbit hole, keep watching 👀 🤣
You did a great job on your concession area! It was a few years ago around Christmas I was thinking about getting that workbench from Home Depot; I was in love with that workbench.
Exacly, you wouldn't know it was one, unless your a HD doe hard. 😅Thanks for watching 👀
I am so sorry about you hitting yourself in the head. I know that had to have hurt. Hope you are doing ok.❤
I recovered after I sat down for a minute.
I am so happy for you Fran and Love watching and seeing your updates can't wait to book my stay🥰
Thank you!
Won't the boys fight each other? I know sheep are like that. Not sure about goats
They'll probably establish dominance, but they were all together when we bout them with more.
Your set up looks great.
Thank you!
Which USDA grants did you apply for?
Conservation, pollinator, forestry. For next year rain catchment and high tunnel.
Looking Good!
Thank you

Fran, you are such an inspiration to me and many others. Keep doing it girl and sharing your journey. If only I could have gotten or had the info that you've shared already I would have farmed/homesteaded either in Ohio, my home state and/or Mississippi, where I transferred to work at a big shipyard until retirement. But, people who work in these places either don't know or don't you to know. This is the time to "Right the Time". Thank you for sharing.
By the way I'm in eastern North Carolina now.
Thanks for viewing, if you ever have questions, reach out.
How many struts does it take to build a dome that size?
This one has 175.
@@OfficiallyFran Thank you
Very cool originally before watcfhing the whole thing I was worried about the plasti pallets with sun exposer and then I saw the covers you made, this is very interesting! Cool idea and very clever.
It's worth a try! Stay tuned and chime in with suggestions as I transform it. It's always good to get feedback 😌
@OfficiallyFran Thanks, I certainly will! Have an awesome week and hello from Texas! :)
Mosquitoes are terrible back there too! lol That used to belong to my Grandparents. Jesse and Norma Hall are my Grandparents on my Dads side. I think you spoke to my cousin Angie. We're all excited to see what you're doing with this land!! We all have many many amazing memories from that property! We were upset to hear that the original house burnt down 😢
It is soooo cool that your family gets to see all that we're doing. I can't wait to have you guys over.
Bolt
I couldn't get that word out for nothing 😒 😂
"Take my nut" At least take me out to dinner first, sheesh
Hey sis! I love love love this! I have 4 of mine seating in storage i cant wait to start putting them together. Do you have the insulation for the inside?
No, the insulation was damaged. Where did you order from? Email me, info in my Bio. And, Thanks for watching
do you have a link for where you got the dome from? cool music - custom created! Awesome idea. inspiring work. thanks
Sorry, I don't, they where listed on FB Marketplace. I am trying to get a sponsor for the same type.
I love it! It's the women in my family who like to build things too. My mom and I have been building and fixing stuff around her house for like 30 years. My mom has put new covers on our greenhouse in about the same way because I was busy all the days she decided to put a new cover on it. Even she ended up with the cover on the wrong way the first time and she's a mathematician so she spends a lot of time making sure that it all makes sense to her before beginning. I always let her try to figure things like that out because I put my shirt on backwards and/or inside out damn near every day because of dyslexia so I'm not the person to ask. lol We usually end up building something ourselves because the contractors who do things often take short cuts and don't really build stuff right. There are already enough huge jobs to do on the house every so often so we try to just build fun things like raised beds and trellises for the garden, but we did build a 6 foot tall block wall when her fence broke. Neither of us knew exactly how to do it so my mom just took a construction class at the college where she taught then (she's retired now and best believe a lot of things have gotten built since then). Of course she did all the measuring but she helped us with the rest of it too. Since we live in California, we had to build it to earthquake code, which means digging a HUGE footing for it. I don't remember the exact dimensions now because this is one of the projects we did do nearly 30 years ago but we had to dig many feet down and many feet to the side on all sides. Then we had to get all the rebar in there where it goes and situated with the concrete for the footing poured around it and set up. Then it was just like building with Legos that you have to mortar together yourself, with a concrete fill and inspection when it got to 4 feet tall and then a second fill and inspection right before we put the top bricks on. That wall is so solid that I always joke that we should shelter next to it whenever the Big One earthquake finally comes along. lol Nearly 30 years later, that wall has no cracks or signs of deterioration of any kind, even though some wild trees grew up right next to it before we could find the time to pull them out since I was going to college then and my mom was teaching at college too and my dad and brother didn't do shit. lol In any case, you got a new subscriber here. Great to see other women who like to build things and be outdoors too!
Wow, I would've loved to see a video of that! Seems like having to do out of necessity gave us all the opportunity to do what we had to, to get it done! Thanks for viewing 😀 ❤️
Respect 🫡 - keep it up -
Thank you
