Everyone mentioning Klaus Nomi... because that's the only version they know. This aria is over 300 years old! Many thousands of men (and some women) have sung it. And, even though I also like Nomi's version, many sung it better. Look for the song on YT and listen to other versions. Max Riebl (the late) is a good starting point. And there's quite a few excellent bariton and bass versions also.

I'm not sure if it's a total lack of a chest voice the unwillingness to tap into it, but it really diminishes from a lot of low lying passages.
She has improved her chest tremendously these 2 years though. Listen to the ending of this aria, full bodied cavernous chest notes all the way with a decent dramatic heft. ruclips.net/video/QZCKRwaZMnY/видео.html
@@WongAndrew_ That's a lot more chesty than I've ever heard from her. I keep hearing Obraztsova's baritonal low notes in this piece in my head.
@@Shahrdad Yes exactly. But she still needs more chest coordination in her upper register. And of course she wobbles at times .
