Los Chichanos, the band behind Edinburgh’s legendary late night fiestas, formed to heat up the city with pumping Latin music. Mixing a full rich percussion section, driving electric guitar solos and mesmerizing Peruvian melodies from the Amazon and the Andes, Los Chichanos perform “chicha” and Jungle Cumbia.
With members from Brazil, Chile, USA, Australia and the UK, the international combo formed in Scotland in 2021 and their shows regularly reach capacity across Edinburgh, popular with lovers of Latin music, late night dancers and tropical travellers.
Using traditional cumbia rhythms and full-powered salsa percussion, the group mixes experimental electric guitar and vintage organ sounds, exploring ‘60s psychedelic influences and nostalgia.

One of the founding fathers of the electric guitar-driven Peruvian Cumbia craze of the 1970s, Manzanita and his band paved the way for the genre that has taken the global tropical dance scene by storm. The infectious cumbia and guaracha rhythms and his killer electric criollo guitar lines have left a legacy of hits which have been recently reissued on the widely respected Analog Africa label.
