You are so right, deepwaters. Yapheth correlates to Ind-European DNA. Shem and Kham correlate to what we call J2 and J1 haplogroups. I find this truly amazing. I came into Bible research as a geographer, and it makes so much sense. The Bible is geographical. However, Josephus only knew about Levitical things, like the Temple. He had no geographical knowledge.

That is true; Josephus was very limited in Geographical knowledge; that is why almost every city or region he lists are all within the Middle Eastern or Mediterranean Region. The fact that Josephus says the Galatians are of Gomer says nothing about whether that is true today, but only historically, and there is additional evidence Galatia was at least founded by Gauls from the North, whom Josephus refers to as sons of Gomer, not specifically of Ashkenaz, Riphath, or Togarmah. This fits what we see today in Europe because there are 3 major variants of Haplogroup R: R1a, R1b, and R2. R1a is common in the East, R1b in the West, and R2 is spread throughout and is not as dominant in large regions of Europe. This shows that it is likely that 3 brothers should be associated with each of these haplogroups. Personally, I think There is context in Jeremiah that mentions Ashkenaz in the region of Armenia along with Minnai and Ararat, so whichever R Haplogroup that is most common in Armenia should be considered Ashkenaz. This is actually not R1a, but R1b (very distinct pocket of R1b among J haplogroups). So I think R1b is Ashkenaz. Ezekiel mentions the "House of Togarmah of the far north" as serving with Gog, and Gog is between Meshech and Tubal. This implies that Togarmah is north of Gog, making R1a in Russia most likely Togarmah. That leaves R2 for Riphath; this haplogroup is more dominant in the Himilaya Mountains and India. Now we ask Josephus who Gog is, and we see he says Gog is the Scythians. Which scythians though? The closest to him! This would be the Skolotoi that the Greeks were allied with. That would make Haplogroup G just north of Armenia in Georgia and Russia the sons of Magog (yes, this is the ancestral heartland of the Khazaria)! They are situated between Meshech, Tubal, and Togarmah! Haplogroup G is very highly concentrated in Georgia, with some places having 80% Haplogroup G! Otherwise it is rare, but it is somewhat in Europe and common in the nomadic steppe! Haplogroup J should be a no brainer since Jews, Arabs, and Southern Italians have J. Jewish traditions say the Arabs are of Ishmael and the sons of Keturah, and Rome is actually Edom (I heard this recently, and it is very compelling)! Jewish traditions also refer to the Orient as the land of Sin, son of Kena'an! This is where M, N, & O are found! Haplogroup L is found in India and T is found in the horn of Africa and Middle East, both of which should be understood from the book of Jubilees to be a land of Shem. I am guessing L is Elam because it is very ancient there, and T is Assur because Zoroastrian priests (religion of Assyria and other pre-Islamic Semitic nations) have a very significant presence of Haplogroup T. The identity of Assur is still a little questionable to me (there could be an argument T is Cush, but most say E is Cush or Mitsrayim), and there is still a lot of room for debate, but I think these haplogroups are compelling and the science links very closely with what we should expect! Truly fascinating time to be alive, a time when "knowledge shall increase" as is written in Daniel 12.

​@DanielAdamFink Shem would be I and J since those are cousin branches and come from IJ. And afroasiatic comes from east Africa via e1b1b ( proven to come from north sudan to Ethiopia) so shem has relations to ham as well and fits with the biblical model.

@SimpleMinded221 I think I would agree with you about Haplogroups A, B, & E coming from Ham; the book of Jubilees indicates that all of Africa belongs to Ham, and even Kena'an was meant to go there, but they never did in an act of disobedience. Instead, they occupied Semitic lands like Israel. China wasn't supposed to go Ham; the islands of South Asia may have been permitted though not specified. I also agree with you about Haplogroup J belonging to Shem; many Semitic peoples have this Haplogroup. I am more ambivalent about Haplogroup I; I am aware these are supposedly closely related, but I need to verify this. Haplogroup I is a good contender for a Japhetic Haplogroup in my opinion; it is primarily found in the far North, which is historically the land of Japheth according to the book of Jubilees, and it appears to be linked to Greece or Thrace. It could very well be that it in fact does have Semitic Roots, but culturally and linguistically it does appear to be Indo-European, which as a general rule implies Japheth.
