Curious, the customer we have , has the deadbolt stuck out so the door won't close, I've tried holding in the parts in your video but it will not retract the deadbolt part, any suggestions would be appreciated. Great video by the way.

I managed to do it, you need to play arround with the screwdriver for quite a bit, and try turning it anti-clockwise, youll feel it when you get some tension. Then just turn it at pull the handle towards yourself and it comes out. Lost 45 minutes yesterday swearing and yelling at it, plan for today was to drill through it, but I went for just another try and got it almost first time. Definitely not as user friendly as shown in the video.

I have a keyed 90 degree lock and had to have the key in as well as depressing the pin to turn. I left the key in and the knob on while removing the cylinder from inside leaving knob on. You did not mention this.

Man this is so complicated for just the doorknob and locking mechanism... Does anybody know what could cause the handle not to spring back? Do I really have to replace all of this??? Wow what a door lol

Anyone know of a video on how to install the cylinder, i seem to only find videos on how to remove it. I have mine in but cant get the deadbolt to operate correctly

Great video, but why are the instructions that come with new lock sets so horrible?? Absolutely no mention of even having to rotate the cam? For the price of these things I'd expect better...

This handle is a joke. Mine have been on for several years and now they don't come off, even with the tool?

It omits to mention you will also need an angle grinder/sledgehammer or saw as this quick removal system is anything but. Its quick to fit but you can forget about ever removing it again. You will need to cut it off to replace.

Wow, this was one of the most difficult diy jobs I’ve ever had to do, I had to saw the handle off! Whoever came up with the idea of a small quick release screw needs to have a look at the conditions a door is used in! Obviously it will seize up over time. Crazy!

quick removal thing is a POS and will not work even with the tool. Why have this ? Im super pissed and been trying to get this handle off for the past 20min

What if there's no visable set screw or hole for quick removal? The handle is getting increasingly loose with no way i can see to tighten it

It looks easy, but as other in the comment field says, It dont work. the actual product cant be the same as used on the video. I also need to cut the handlre by a grinder. can Hoppe please comment this or make some mote guidance !

Amazing. I'd pretty much given up in replacing my old and corroded cylinder....resigned myself to calling a locksmith and paying the $200 show up fee. Lo and behold this worked like a charm....at the cost of a paper clip! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

Thank you soooooo much! This video saved my bacon (or tofurkey for vegans) :). I was dog sitting for my neighbors and couldn’t figure out how to relock the door after the dogs came back in. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I would have to camp out next to the door for a week without this video…😄

Thank you. Just received custom doors ordered 4 mo ago. Installer did not know tricky sequence of locking, as key cylinder appears "frozen" if certain latch not depressed, allowing handle to be raised to engage upper and lower latches . I "gotter done," but not before some harsh words to supplier about "broken" hardware.

How about creating an affordable multipoint smart (electronic) lock for Hoppe? $1500+ for the Hoppe version is more expensive than just tossing the Hoppe doors in the trash.

2 and half hours and I can’t open this handle. This is crazy!

Needed to take off a Hoppe Atlanta handle today as the spring needed oiling. Been a while since I installed them. Found the little tool which is a flat blade screw driver. The grub screw in the handle isn’t actually a screw. It’s just a spring that you need depress by inserting the flats blade and turning and at the same time pull the handle off. Hope this helps.

I can't do that either... I don't have the tool but I tried with a tiny screwdriver. Should it be that complicated?

The company I work for installed this doors that used this on a low roof of a sky scraper. To keep people from accessing the low roof, I was instructed to install the thumb turn to the outside and the key cylinder to the inside. The goal was to use the key on the inside and lock the door. But when someone turns the handle inside I unlocks both the latch and deadbolt. I'm thinking it has to do with the deadbolt mechanism inside the door. We can't just change the thumb turn to the outside and expect it to work. I don't know if this made sense to anyone. But if anyone can help. I'd appreciate it very much.

Tight fit! lol the set screw in one handle is solid. I can't get it out of the handle.... just snaps the Alan key. Worst door handles I've ever had to change. I'll have to saw it off at this rate!

Does anyone know how to remove the thumb turn part if the lock broke with the door locked? We can’t get the thumb turn off and can’t open the door....

I'm a pretty skilled carpenter and first spent 1.5 hours to find out I need this special tool to remove the door handle. Hoppe kindly sent one to me for free. And now I have spent another 2 hours trying to figure out how to use it. For me it does not work as in the video. This is the most complicated and over-engineered system I have ever experienced. Although they look good, I would never in my life buy and install these ones again.
