It was just a bug that you can't control on the first hit of the axe

yeah that's how speedruns work in this game. We work as 5 people to complete the objectives. I have to coordinate so I have the least mental capacity to spend on the game. My teammates are incredible at this game, should I not rely on them?

I'm hoping to get more solo and low team records out this season. I just moved to europe though so it will take me a couple of weeks to get back at it :)

In ToM runes the things in [brackets] stack and people in the community have shown that % damage runes stack. To test, play sentinel, throw a shield with 1 nothing to wield, two nothing to wields and two nothing to wields and a far fetched. Each will increase in damage.

Yes, Melee did do damage but it was not competitive and it felt bad compared to sentinel. To explain, Sentinel was bugged to do 2x damage last season. As melee, to compete you needed to do 2000 damage 3x a second to out-damage sentinel with just the runes of the starting set. This assumes that you are hitting the boss 100% of the time. Beyond that, the way that armor scaled you would end up doing 400-600 damage to a boss that a sentinel hit for 15k per throw. It just felt bad.

Holy, QOL update S5 is quite something else.

@@TrawlWizrt Yeah I really like s5 so far! The way combat worked was changed in season 4 and we could no longer use spears the way we did in season 3. Due to a bug, in Season 4 sentinels did 2x the damage they were supposed.

The sentinel definitely is crazy. New season in a day tho so hopefully everything changes!

He is using a rhythmic attack pattern that is no longer viable currently. Not sure what happened with the spear but I'm trying to find out.

As we are speedrunners we push the limits of this game as far as possible and we do not cheat or intentionally use glitches. This is not a representation of how people normally play the game, we have been working on this for months and only handful of people have made it this far. The people in this group are so skilled compared to the other players that it is hard to truly understand. I am sad to hear that this has made you not want to buy the game, I suggest giving it a chance and trying to find people to play with. You may not think it is enjoyable but we love it. It is all preference.

I think you should not check video of speedrunning if a game interests you. They are made to break the standard and turn corner more often. Of course he will be using the most op strats there is, but this is not even close to what most people do in the game.

@@fredericlagace Yeah I pretty much agree. This really doesn't give a good impression of what the average player experiences and we even play theoretically glitchless.

It's just a bug. You can do it consistently but we don't because we try to play glitchless and so when you see it in our videos it is by accident.

@@bleezy2160 It's an interaction with picking stuff up. You can basically just spam pick up if there are items around and it works

I have been trying to figure out how to make melee viable and have been struggling with it. The dark axe berserker seems legit but it’s hard to say where the meta will take us.

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of it personally but I have to bend to the will of the meta and I can't figure out how to get melee to work

@@furlsghost9232 Have you tried the hunter + nothing to hide? The ghost archer can do like 550 dmg per shot, so does the wolf that you summon per bite, and you yourself can do like 1k+ per shot depending on the bow, it's safe because they pull the aggro of mobs and bosses. So you don't need to figure out the melee.

It has actually been changed for season 4. The spear attack speed has been lowered and so we have not yet found a new viable way to do this. I think axes may take over as being the most valuable weapon.

It's a rhythmic pattern. I practiced it by counting in 3's and attacking on 1-2 and pausing on 3. Then I reduced the space on 3 until it's consistent.

Right? When Fenrir is half hp and starts to roar it's like tornado PTSD. We lost a world record one time because 5/6 of us were killed instantly on fenrir. Forever we will remember the day fenrir slayed us all

The best weapon for berserker is the spear. With the surtrs spear, the pumped up rune and all the berserker passives you deal as much damage as another class with soul powered. If you are new and want to learn you should join our discord!

@@Tripsouk As expected, it is difficult to get 4 soul powers in all the worlds you play, but I think it is possible to get 1-2 soul powers in most of the worlds you play in more than 80% of the time by feel. The method is to create an account that has not acquired any rune recipes. The only epic rune recipes you get are Soul Powered and (already acquired from the beginning) Seidr Weaver. When you get the right to get the epic rune, you will have a 1/2 chance of getting it simply because you are not a candidate for either of those two runes. Epic Runes can be obtained by: 1. defeating strong enemies (enemies with yellow strength bars) 2. opening treasure chests in the ruins 3. defeating Jotun 4. treasure chests in Fenrir, Jormungandr, and Surt. etc. are available.

The only rune openings on the account at the time this record was created are the following "Blessed Hands", "Chef's Kiss", "Pumped Up", "Ire of Odinn", "Night Owl", "Soul Powered", "Mimir's Well", "Soul Mate", and "Shrug It".

If you just use the first two attacks from the spear repeatedly you will attack extremely quickly. The way I do it is click click move click click move. I think it's the fastest attack speed without using fury from the fire axe.

Yeah! I love the axe and without the axe this build would be much less viable. With Soul Powered I don't need to build any other weapons but without SP I can swap between the fire axe and the lightning hammer or axe to do a similar thing. With the warrior talent to keep mana when you switch weapons it's pretty incredible feeling.
