OneBottle Hydration System: Is It Worth It?

If you are like me, you have a hard time deciding if you should use a water bottle or a hydration bladder when hiking. On the other hand, water bottles are easy to refill but not that conven...

Breathtaking Adventure: Hike the Old Bridle Path, with me!
Interesting that RUclips rewards woodworking channel with lots of tool reviews yet it seems your great reviews are ignored.
Chris, it doesn't bother me that this video isn't performing all that well. I have this one ruclips.net/video/O3-AugyBcr4/видео.html That has exploded, it has gotten 29,500 views in two years, and earned about $111 in 2 years. Not every idea or video is going to be a home run. I have another video discussing my 50 liter back pack and that gets regular views. This video might catch on some day.
Got my weekend hike in. Thanks. Now I con do some work around the house.
I don’t know if I would call this a hike. I’d call it a walk in the woods. I am glad you enjoyed the viddy.
I’ve heard snarky comments ate helpful to a channels growth. SNARKY. Hope it helps you. 😅
Any comment helps. It’s all about engagement.
I soooo can't wait to get back out on the snow covered trails.
Great episode man, this was simply enjoyable!
Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed it.
Those pack sizes are way too large. Anyone doing a day hike less than 10-12 miles can easily use a fanny pack as long as it's designed to carry two liters of water. Check the weather forecast and don't pack your fears.
Not in New Hampshire. If you are doing a 10-12 mile hike you had better bring more than 2 liters of water. The weather can change at the drop of a hat. If Fish and Game has to rescue you for some reason and all you have is 2 bottles of water, be prepared to get a bill for several thousands of dollars.
Nice walk
It was a very nice walk. I had just come down Mt. Fayal, that video come out next week, and I saw this trail and decided to take it. It was nice and short and on the way back to the car.
Beautiful work man, trail looks so peaceful and soothing! Love it
Thanks a lot! It was a great day.
Thanks, that was very helpful in my research of the Citro 24
I am glad that you found it helpful
SQUIRREL!!!!!!!!
Be careful you don't snap and ankle, Paul.
That washout area was quite tricky to maneuver through. I am glad it was only a short portion of the trail
once i pass the poles thru the hoop, i like to give it a single twist before anchoring to the pack with the shock cord.
I will need to try that.
this was a short and easy bike ride but man was it fun.
Isn’t there an old blessing that contains the line, “May the ground rise to meet your feet.”? Consider yourself blessed! Of the rocks were smaller and the trail less channeling the reward would be less at the end of the hike.
You are correct. If the rocks were smaller the trail would be less challenging but my back and knees would be happier.
This walk in the woods was such a surprise. I love finding these local trails that turn out to be more than just a walk in the woods.
2:46 that’s one thing I need to get rid of. I do a lot of hiking and chafing very uncomfortable bigger guy stuff to control the moisture buildup
I am glad you found the video informative. Have fun on your next hike.
THANK YOU !!! Sir !!🎉😊
You’re welcome. I’m glad you found the video helpful
The original purpose of that loop is to attach an ice axe. You put the handle through until it hits the head, flip it around so the head is at the bottom of the pack and fasten the handle to the top strap.
Thanks. I had always wondered what that was for. It works well for trekking poles as well.
I should have taken the left branch at the sign showing .3 of a mile to the summit as it would have been less arduous.
Thankyou! More please!😊😎
I will do my best to make some more
Comment below
Thanks Paul😊 Of course I use trekking poles. My 47 year old knees thank me 😆
My 53 year old knees want me to use the more but I am too lazy to attach them to the pack and then stop to get them from the pack. I really only need them for the descent.
@@PaulsWanderings Yeah I hear you. At least you’re using them on decent. Have you been out hiking lately? What state are you located? I haven’t watched any of your videos besides this one.
@@PaulsWanderingsO😮wow! Just looked lol you post a lot. That’s awesome you get out and wander lol.
@adelafirme I live in New Hampshire and usually hike in the White Mountains which are tough. The last few years, my back and hips have been giving me more of a problem than my knees.
@@PaulsWanderings Oo😫nooo both your back and hips. Definitely no fun. I know the back issues got one myself. Noo not fun. Actually very serious for myself. When my back acts up it really affects me in many ways besides physically.
I started with Sawyer Mini probably 7-8 years ago. I was camping at 7000 feet elevation and temperature plunged to -9F and my mini froze. I replaced it with a micro squeeze. Similar weight to the Mini but more options such as easier back flushing without carrying the syringe. Setting it up as a gravity filter is incredibly simple with a bag of dirty water and a bag for clean water or a regular bottle. Unscrew the bag or bottle for clean water 1/3 turn and the air in the bottle escapes easily. Hang the system from a limb while cooking or gathering firewood. LOVE the system
This was such a great hike
My parents took us up one in Mendenhall, Mississippi when I was around 5 or 6. 50 years ago and I still remember it!
wow! so no one was around there? be careful
this time of year, these towers are manned. I believe the guy in the tower was coordinating a response to a fire.
It was a pretty easy hike, compared to what I usually do. If you'd like to see the hike to the tower, that video will come out on Saturday August 3.
Thanks paul!
You’re welcome. I’m glad you found the video useful
How come some people direct poole tips upwards?
Great question. I have tried if for a little be and it was not safe.
Who else thought he was going to hit it straight into the camera.
I was afraid about doing that so I offset the camera, so in the VERY RARE chance I hit the ball straight, I wouldn’t kill my phone.
Alright already. I'll go buy a new pair of boots.
I wouldn't just stick my hand up there without looking or using a stick or something first. Nice way to get bit by all manner of critter
@@mszoomy same! I just couldn't
Fair enough
@@PaulsWanderings I got stung on my hand 4 or 5 times from doing something similar, paper wasps made a nice little nest up inside my wind chime, found out the hard way why it wasn't tinkling anymore. Another time I had a too close encounter with a scorpion. Look first, always!!
I guess I got lucky
Good job man!
Thank you! Cheers!
my first thought
Did you do that on purpose?
Yes, that was one of my best shots. You have to go see the 5 shots I took that landed in the water. I also hit 7 balls into the water on the 4th hole.
Great swing! Try moving your hands back a quarter to half an inch, use all the length of the shaft and arms you got so that way the flex shaft will generate more power, that be saying you had a great connection on the fairway finder of the driver
Thanks for the tip. Did you see the one in which I put 5 straight into the water? I had two holes like that. I felt like Kevin Costner in Tin Cup.
totally tbought this would be a good way to hide from a bear. I guess I'd just get locked in
I like the idea, if only there was a way to get out.
The latch works from the inside too, it must or they'd have kids locking themselves in there, they do think of these things you know,
Thanks, nice clear audio. I have the CDN Gregory Citro 24. I got it to replace my Gregory ISO (that I just loved,) that I had for years. It just fell apart.
Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
This was a neat surprise.
Thank you for making this video!
You are welcome. I’m glad that you found it useful
Where is the section of trail located?
I rode from Concord Terrace Mobile Home Park on Fisherville Rd. in Concord up to the Merrimack County complex, prison and nursing home and back
Not too long ago I purchased the Sawyer Squeeze and have been loving it so far!
I wish Sawyer would come out with better bags than the bulky bags that come with it. I'd love a bag like the BeFree.
@@PaulsWanderings I don't have one myself but I've seen good things about the cnoc water containers that can screw right onto the filter
Thanks for the info
I've got a sawyer mini still teamed up with a cheap-o 3L OEX blader, I chopped off the bite valve and boom gravity filter. I got my sawyer before lockdown (in the UK) and it's still fine and I've hardly back flushed it, I do use a milbank bag if necessary though
Thanks for the information
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Man, those lilies were tough to remove.
Needed THIS!!!🎉
I am glad you enjoyed it. The funny thing is, I hardly ever attach my poles to my pack.
@@PaulsWanderings Really?😄 I appreciate the response!
You are very welcome.
Thanks. I have a Gregory backpack and I couldn't figure out how to attach the trekking poles either. I'm very grateful for you sharing this. I would like it better though if Gregory had done it like Osprey does and make it so the pole come to the front so you can grab them and use them easily without taking off the backpack. Last year, I rigged up something with a shoelace attached to the front straps and ran through that back loops. I'm going to try to do this with some shock cord instead, however I have several things on my straps already, such as gopro mount and water bottle holder since it's too hard to grab my water bottleon the go when it is in the pocket. Thanks again.
I am glad that you found the video informative
1:28... Nice, Paul
Thank you. I am glad that you enjoyed the video
Nope
Nope, it's not running high?
@@PaulsWanderings don’t want to swim.
@@ChrisStCyr-gnt7 I forgot I had posed the question. You should have seen the trees that were blown down.
hope you do not need a lot of gear for a 3 mile hike
I pack the same for a 3 mile hike as I do for a 20 mile hike, maybe a bit less water for a 3 mile hike. You never know if you will need to spend a night or two out on the trail if something goes awry
