I was into Nils Lofgren before Springsteen His old band Grin was really good and he released a great solo album, "Cry Tough" in the mid-70s. I saw him open for Boston and he did the mini tramp flip when he came on stage back then.

This is the first version I ever heard of this song, probably when it was first released and played on Australian television. I love how the band are still a little unsure of the arrangement but they follow Bruce beautifully, just feeling where he needs to go with the lyric. The shot of the girl at the end pretty much sums it up for me. She knows she's heard something very special yet it's probably a brand new song she and most of the crowd have never heard before. I heard it once and just knew it was a song I'd need to carry with me for the rest of my life.

Still makes my cry after all these years. Bless you Bruce.
