To be honest I am not really a big Country or Bluegrass fan. I am more of a Jazz Guy but there are a few guitarists who play this style I know and LIKE and Johnny Hiland sure is one of them. This guy can play like a "........"😝😝😝let's keep it decent. Great bends and a lot nice dissonance and lightning fast too. And he can play the changes, absolutely fantastic player!

I was in Nashville in 2002 or so for the Summer NAMM show and I wander into a bar where Johnny Hiland was playing. I don't drink at all, so I know what I saw was for real and not a figment of a drunken stupor. Here was the unlikely-looking individual playing the most amazing country guitar I had ever seen in my life.

I would literally let someone surgically remove one of my testicles to be able to play like that. I’d probably even eat that testicle. I understand everything that he’s playing but I have never been able to develop clean speed like that. Just forget it, I’m going to take all of my gear out into the driveway and burn it all down.

The only other person that I have heard that plays like that is Albert Lee, but Albert is now in his 79th year and is maybe a tiny bit slower......
