    Did this for 14 years. Now I'm meat manager lol. You're doing too much waking back and fourth. It's more productive to spot it quick then throw or park at the front of the aisle and work your way down. This saves time on walking back and fourth. You'll get more cases per hour.

    How do regular grocery stores work in terms of inventory? For us, we have a Front of House (FOH) and a Back of House (BOH). Let's say 24 units come in, and 12 fit in the lane (1 home). We then destock 12 units to a BOH bin, like D.100.RACK10.C01. On the handheld device, we have a replenishment tool that guides us in the store on where to go and restock the items. I assume for you guys, you guys get exactly what they need for the most part, and if any overstock is left, they just put it on pallets and general storage carts. The overstock will get stocked throughout the day. Is that correct?

      tbh, every company's stocking policy does in fact vary, and how they structure stocking and store operations. And it also varies by department as well. both dairy and general merchandise and other products sold at a supermarket or store have a significantly lower case rating compared to grocery. Ofc it varies by company while some companies incentivize their case ratings for general merchandise. Some might put more attention to dairy or market/deli wanting faster stocking speed. but typically dairy and market are half of what grocery is. and grocery's lowest threshold is between 40-55 for minimum standard. and in some places. Might be 65/cph minimum. while others are set by the "slowest stocker" at the store and it can like 60-90/cph and it also accounts for difficulty level of stocking where some aisles can allow you to hit 175/cph+ and others are very difficult to hit the minimum standard consistently or may take longer to stock. But the bottom end is 55/cph but none of that matters, what matters is completion of your aisles. 100% stock block and pull riser/backstock.

    • @MagnusVia
      @MagnusVia 3 месяца назад

      @@vicerichter1163 Here, in grocery on paper with "split / rumble / running" factored in its 55. Factoring out split, etc its about 75. Take out promo. Then its about 65. If split takes longer than expected then those rates rapidly increase. Carton rate 65 is do able even during evening shifts*. Be it by a 16 year old. Handicapped 40 year old. A 60 year old. Male. Female. Shelf friendly cartons make life extremely easy for modern fillers. * During busy times; Holidays; Seasonal periods may see a decline. Of course completion matters. If its not on the shelf it cannot sell. Availability rating takes a hit. Less sales, less hours for the workers.

      @@MagnusVia honestly it depends on policy. I dont know who you work for. but as far as Iam concerned. Our policies are ground-set at at bare minimum according to our store. We dont earn time for "spotting", "splitting" break down LV and specialized products. We must break down and start stocking after 30minute break *No exceptions* our standard break-down is around 2-2.5hours of a truck depending on pallet sizing. If it is greater than average amount. Like 60+ pallets. Expect to start working at 1am/1:45am stock time. Now ofcourse. One thing to take into consideration. Is backstock/riser picking. Im not sure what is "standard" practice in stocking grocery. Ive seen and heard under the same company that some teams do pull risers first while the other half of the team goes and downstacks the truck. So that cph goes from 55 to 70-ish cases per. But on some nights where we do have a late truck. We pull riser, do backstock, and block. And now the cph standard jumps to 80-90 because you're just straight stocking. Everything from only the ground. Nothing else. But for our store. We do stock,block pull. And it is 55. But according to alot of places in the same industry. 60cph is world standard. But we do have stockers who are capable of doing 70+ and our highest is 150cph. And he is our lead. Guy can throw 3-4 aisles a night and average 100-120cph and at one point, he stated he did 200cph+, which I do believe since I have witnessed him throw 4 aisles in 1 night before the store opened. Which is something no one can even compare to.
